My husband and I are trying to find houses to rent right now and it feels impossible! So many people are trying to rent and multiple applications are sent to houses we're interested in. It seems like on base housing is the only reliable thing to do at the moment. Hoping we'll get some luck soon!
Hi are you there with your husband? I’m still in my home town he just finished his AIT and In Colorado now to do his paperwork for his unit. I’m not sure how to do the whole finding a home thing and the BAH switched over.
I was stationed at Fort Carson, but lived on Peterson, YOU DONT HAVE TO STAY ON CARSON, I had buddies that stayed at AF Academy which I would not recommend because of distance but there are 3 other bases you can stay at, which also has Shiriver
Fort Carson was a place my husband would have loved to get stationed at. But of course, it wasn’t in the cards for us. The weather seems nice. I’d love to experience the snow. I heard about altitude sickness.
My wife and I are currently in Fairbanks at FWW. We have options for JBLM, Carson, or Sam. Wondering how you like it in Carson after being there for a year? Thanks!
I absolutely loved Colorado! I would go back in a heartbeat. My husband didn’t love his unit as much but it was worth it to live there. I think it’ll depend on your MOS/potential unit if y’all will end up loving it! Colorado in general though is amazing!
Wow this is great! What was your husbands MOS? Me and my hubby are dual military. We have the same MOS and we will be PCSing to Carson within the next few weeks! Any advice?
He is a 14G! How exciting!! We really love it here and will be so sad to leave. A lot of people here are weirdly negative unfortunately, but there are so many things to do here! It’s so beautiful. My one piece of advice is to take advantage of being in Colorado (and don’t let negative Nancy’s talk you out of loving it lol). Let me know if you need anything ☺️
Ashley Vering of course! I will definitely keep in touch with you! How great! But man wouldn’t it have been nice for you to stay! Being in the military is definitely not easy! But good luck on your future endeavors ❤️❤️❤️❤️
We live near the Broadmoor and love the area! There is a street right outside of post called Westmeadow that has tons of apartments. It’s a military dominant area if that’s what you’re looking for. If you’re looking for a house, Briargate area and Fountain are popular as well.
I’m coming to Ft. Carson as my first duty station in May. I have a wife and a five year old son. What would you recommend as far as housing is concerned?
We did not live on post so I can’t recommend anything on post. I do recommend living off post though! It was one of our best decisions while living there.
@@AshleyVering I’m trying to convince my husband! Lol both are on his list of possible locations and I keep telling him Colorado sounds amazing but the once in a life time traveling we could do in Europe would be the best!
Germany because you can visit at least 6 countries within a 6 hour drive regardless as to where you live at, but as state side assignment’s and I’ve done 6, Carson was the best!
I was stationed at the "Mountain Post" many many, yrs ago. 80'-82' I was fortunate enough to be 1 of the 1st females to join a gender combined Army. Everyone I know at Ft Carson seems to like it. I never thought of altitude sickness. Thanks for sharing.
Ft. Huachuca in Az isn't far behind at 4,600 ft.
I really want this to come here next, we are currently at bliss.. my husband has one more choice before he "owes the army" this is top on our list!

Yes, we actually heard back from Peterson housing before Carson when we were looking to live on post!

We do really love it here! Yes, altitude sickness is widely talked about among spouses. I've heard its affecting kiddos pretty badly.
Perhaps Colorado is still in your future.
My first duty station. I’ll be there in January 👏🏼

I would LOVE to be stationed in Colorado! Too bad hubby's a marine 😂maybe one day when he's out. Great video!
We loved it! I’d definitely move back after he gets out too. 🥰 How much longer do y’all have?
@@AshleyVering 3 years! It'll be a while before we have a say in where we live!
I understand the feeling! My husband is planning on doing 20. Do y’all want to move back to where y’all are from or go somewhere new?
My husband got PCS orders there his first time. We have no clue what to do. I’m still in South Carolina he in Colorado.
Are you planning on joining him in Colorado? If you are, then the army will pay for your move there!
Me and my husband are moving out there the end of September!
How exciting!!

Do you think fort Carson is a good place for single soldiers in the barracks ?
I'm wondering the same thing. Everything I read or watch is targeted for the married audience

I will be PCSing out to Carson Dec 3rd. Will be looking off post housing with family asap.
We are also from Houston, TX (Clear Lake area)
As someone who has been to both Germany and Colorado, which did you like better??

Where is the best place/ cheapest to live off post in fort Carson
Check out the app Zillow! That was my best bet for finding places to live. There is a big range of places around Ft. Carson.
ill be arriving at fort carson in Aug 10.
Awesome! Enjoy!
Do Fort Carson go to the field often?
When we were there (2018-2020), it was somewhat often. It really depends on your job!
They need to upgrade housing! 😡😡😡😡
Tell me what it’s like please!!!!
