In prep for getting my off-grid storage shed powered up I wanted to make a simple ground mount that would utilize a 4x4 post sunk 3 feet into the ground and could hold 2 X 100W panels. This project turned out great and most of the materials needed (excluding the solar panels) can be purchased at your local home improvement store.

Not sure how I missed this whole project. The algorithm just showed me the connection video on the other channel then I came here. This is timely as I have a resin shed from Lifetime and picked up a pair of rigid 100W panels and was trying to figure out how to hang them from the roof w/o putting holes in the resin. I have an empty spot next to to the shed and wondered how I could build something to hold the panels that would not cost more than the panels. This is perfect. I will look for ideas on making it adjustable, but I suspect the fixed angle will prove to be enough for my meager needs. Thanks, Scott!

i live in rural ontario canada and i'm planning to do a 4 panel setup (but might add 4 more in the future) with 2 6x6 posts.

Great video, thank you. This is exactly what I wanted to build for a shed out back of my property. Using an Ecoflow Delta battery and just need to understand how to get it wired from the panels to the inside shed location.
Video coming out next week where I will trench in the wires from the panel to the shed 👍
My 2 cents is to not use the tube in the hole, either fill the hole with tamped in dirt or mixed concrete.

Just a heads up, aluminum and pressure treated lumber don't play well together long term. The copper in the treatment will accelerate corrosion on the aluminum. In my personal experience, it hasn't been too bad. I built two 3500Wp arrays from treated lumber and check the panels regularly. There's some slight discoloration on the frames where they touch the wood, but they're still sturdy. It's just something to be aware of.
Unless I missed it, this shed’s electrical system needs to be grounded. This is a “separately derived system” as described in NEC code.
I've found not using tube forms to work very well, and reduces the cost as you don't need to buy the tube form. Concrete below level, then after it cures a bit, cover up with soil or gravel.

Not sure if you grounded your array, didn't see that in the video, but would you recommend doing that on a smaller array like you're showing?
This one I did not ground. It is a good idea to ground but some might argue if it is needed for a setup like this.
If I understand, the panels are for the shed just behind to the left? If yes, I was wondering why you didn’t put the panels on the shed roof?
I can think of a few reasons: angle, more panels needed, wanted to build the pole support setup, etc. I’m just curious about your thought process on this. Thanks!
Yeah, those panels will be for that shed. I will put the whole system together in a video within the next week or so. I just wanted to show one of the many options for mounting panels and not necessarily saying this is the best. Like you mentioned each case is different with multiple factors that have to be considered.

For the surface area of your 2x 100w panels, would it have been better to go with a single panel of 275w to 400w? More output for the approx same area.
Yeah, I like 100W panels because they are so popular in the DIY space but you could probably make better use of the surface area with only 1 larger panel.
How about a car canopy structure with at most 3 legs that is designed to have solar panels mounted to the canopy? The solar wires would then feed into a nearby ecoflow battery bank. You then have an off grid car cover and an EV charging station in one. That would be a highly watched video!
It doesn't work to change an EV off the sun!!
Thanks for the suggestion. That would be highly watched and also would highlight that car/truck batteries are much, much larger than even a standard EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra. Would be interesting to breakdown the energy generated into how many miles added to the EV car range.

Just knock the snow off 👍. A ground mount like this is easy to manage. Roof mount is a bit tougher.
Solar panels actually function much better in the winter with the lower temperatures you just need to take the snow off like Scott said. You're not going to get as much production during the winter as you will during the summer but you'll definitely get something.
If you use bifacial panels you will benefit from light reflecting off the snow.
Also I read somewhere to dump some white gravel on the ground so the bifacials work in the summer as well
