One of my favorite songs from the musical! The irony that this song is about television being superior to books. Yet we’re most likely watching this from cell phones or tablets maybe they should rename the song “Techy” for technology. Otherwise bravo to Mr. Wormwood and Michael!

well technically this show is set in 1988 so telly was all the technology they had.. but a very good point hahaha
Honestly this is my third favorite number from the musical. But then again I love Tim Minchin and this is the most similar to his broadcast numbers like Three Minute Song and Song for Wossy. I hope they make time for it in the movie.

Like another commenter said, most likely due to contracts and how much hours child actors can perform. They're down some actors right now, so probably had to save their hours for actual shows.

Even if they had to do a song that doesn’t have Matilda, there are loads better they could do than Telly, although I suppose it’s a very easy one to stage.
Both Miracle and When I Grow Up are coming to mind as good numbers if you want to omit Matilda. Or a medley. Just not this bland thing.

The film sidelined the parents a lot - they'd even rehearsed all of Mrs Wormwood's song so why they cut it is baffling.

Think there’s a good chance it won’t be in the film. Wasn’t in the trailer, and is a bit of a pointless song if there isn’t an interval.
