This young man is overflowing with talent and charisma . It would be great to see him go to moto GP , take a year to learn the bike and the tires then lay waste to the field . There would finally be a rider to cheer for in moto GP . My hats off to Kenan Sofoglioglu for doing such a fantastic job mentoring this fine young man . Go Toprak ! .

He says that he wanted to understand the bike, the tires, he wanted to get the feeling and responses. And he did say that he was not pushing for lap times, considering bringing the bike back one piece. So I can’t understand people expecting times etc? What should he do, brake the lap record? Those comments show people don’t understand biking.
I wish Toprak a great future and only given his talent and amazing riding style like no other, any MotoGP Team willing to invest in a new strong and long lasting relation, most probably would build up a fighter for the podiums. It’s just being able to sense the potential and willing to give him the legit chance and time for him to make the bike his toy, as he plays with the Superbikes.

First of all, he could not express himself adequately because of his English speaking ability. secondly, he may not have wanted to force himself because it was the test bike. therefore he needs more time and chance to see himself. Third, he also wants to see himself (his qualifications) for moto GP anyway. He doesn't want to stay in the middle places in motoGP. Clearly, Toprak understands what he needs to change when riding a MotoGP bike. He made numerous references to the seat. Please keep in mind that he was a Yamaha rider, and the bike was a Yamaha. The team failed to fulfill his request for a lower seat. In other interviews, he expressed his disappointment about this fact. I don't think it should be perceived as an excuse for his riding; it is clearly an expression of his disappointment. He is a rider who pushes the limits and needs feedback from the bike to understand his riding limits. That opportunity was not provided by the team. What a disappointment. In some tracks, he's faster than MotoGP riders with his 240 HP R1, it's not a skill issue but compatibility issue.

Ofcourse he isn’t concerned with his times… 😂 His times were 2 seconds off Yamahas test riders 🤦🏽‍♂️ there were rumors he had difficulty getting used to the Yamaha moto gp bike overall. They said he needs time. Which they have zero interest in giving him. They will get Jorge Martin before Toprak. He’s a race winning proven rider. An they’ll hope Martin fixes his inconsistency and be able to not fall off in the last ten laps like he does now. Notice Topraks emphasis on “it’s a completely different bike” and how he says “he’s just enjoying it” he knows he didn’t do well an he’s making excuses for himself.

At times I really wonder with some of the questions from journos, what did they want to hear from Toprak. We have seen from past new riders to MotoGP will need time to understand and adapt regardless of how good they may be from the class or Championship they are from.
Yamaha need and want a rider who is quick and already fast in their MotoGP team as they are well behind the rest. I do not think at this moment Toprak fits that description simply cos they do not have time to allow a rider to adapt. If they still had a satellite team then perhaps a little bit easier to slot him in even though Keenan says only an official factory team is wanted (they'll put the latest spec bike as enticement) That is all moot until 2025 if Yamaha can secure a satellite team. Until then I reckon Toprak's best ride shall still be in WSBK.

completely different bikes with completely different ride style required, completely different tyres, plus don't forget Toprak has extremely specific traits as a rider (size and unique riding style all on the front end) and Yamaha M1 a super dated bike (as well as R1).
Both him and Fabio in such a difficult situation, I wouldn't want to be in their shoes
