Hello @ Paul Ramone, if you like the Atari cover art IDW published a really nice Atari anthology book with a lot of cover art pictures and Atari trivia.
Mr. Immortal, awesome as your collection is, I'm more impressed with the condition of many of your cartridges and boxes! I was blown away by that Pac-Man Tele-Games label...
The thing I'll always love about the 2600 was the cover art for the games. It was always so amazing, and made you WANT to get that game home and play it! Missile Command had these futuristic guys right out of Battlestar Galactica on it, fighting for the survival of the human race. Berzerk had a Buck Rogers background extra who was fighting killer robots, complete with glorious 70's hair and immaculate white outfit. Yeah, the games themselves didn't quite live up to how the art represented them, but, still.
With the intro of retron 77 I have started again to collect atari 2600 carts. Also learning about atari age and the homebrews. Its like falling in love again with atari which at one time I had owned in 1981.
Atari cover art was gorgeous.. it helped jump start for the gameplay.. while the game itself lacks what the cover presents... that's where the imagination comes into play. That's something this generation will never get to feel and experience.
Hey John Hancock, I have an Atari 2600 game cartridge collection that approaches nearly 90 game cartridges in total. About a dozen of my game cartridges consist of hacks and homebrews. I still play and enjoy my Atari 2600 video games.
Call me Captain Obvious, but for you younger gamers who don't get it, because the graphics weren't up to your modern day standards, the games had to be fun and challenging to sell. By challenging I mean mostly your reflexes, because most games weren't deep. Still puzzle games like 3D Tic Tac Toe were very challenging. As programming advanced, graphics got better, as long as they weren't trying to copy some arcade game with highly advanced technology. But even then they often captured the essence of the game. And 30+ years later the Atari 2600 lives.
Hey John you have a fine collection of Atari 2600 game cartridges with most of them in their own boxes. I have only one gatefold box and it is "Basic Math" (which was later renamed "Fun With Numbers"). I have both homebrews and hacks that I bought from AtariAge that don't have the boxes. But I prefer to have my Atari video game cartridges in their original boxes with their manuals.
Not only one of my favourite systems to collect for, but I love playing 2600 games. The game play stands up really well. Nice seeing some of the more obscure titles from the other publishers. And of course the home-brews.
CRASS06 John likes to keep the stickers on his games. It’s part of their history. It drives most of us nuts but I can see his point. Especially once the stickers get old and you can see prices and old stores.
Once all Atari related videos are done, I will be showing my nintendo stuff. I have enough videos for well over an entire year, and will release a new video every week.
Many of the games didn’t hold up particularly well over the years, but there are some very competitive head-to-head games like Activision’s Tennis, Freeway, & Ice Hockey, M Network’s Frogs and Flies, and Atari’s Super Football & Warlords that are great two-player fun. For 1 player there’s Activision’s HERO, River Raid, & Seaquest and Atari’s Phoenix, Vanguard & Berserk
the cartridge cover art are amazing, I´ve already had some of those silver boxes and they are just beautiful.

How can I sell my Atari cartridges
Touch of lighter fluid on stickers and they will peel off with no damage :) I use it on my vinyl record sleeves.
