- The point to keep in mind is that all tests have strength and weakness and no test in medicine is perfect. No test is 100% perfect and 100% specific. Both the ELISA test and the rapid test are amazingly accurate tests with accuracy rates to more than 95 to 97% in most situations, rapid tests tend to be very popular in clinical practice because they tend to be easy and can be performed immediately and you can get a result within less than 30 minutes. Their accuracy and sensitivity is about 25 points lower than the ELISA tests. But once again the things to keep in mind is that the sensitivity of rapid tests are 95 to 97& and ELISA test is 97 to 99%. It is just a couple of points and overall these are extremely accurate tests.

Please sir i did a test three months after exposure and it was negative,and another at 6months and a final test at 9 months all negative but i have all the hiv symptoms from, diarrhea,one swollen lymph nodes after 8 months,neck pain,rash , headache and neuropathy i don't know if i can trust the tests

Or a need to never ever test. HIV is a harmless retrovirus. It has nothing to do with AIDS. AIDS has to do with the whole immune system falling apart. Many were given an IDS diagnosis (and didn’t test positive). Many healthy people tested positive (lousy tests that pick up most anything) and are forced to take the ARVs with no understanding that they are chemotherapy. I took them as a healthy 30 year old. After years they nearly killed me.

The window period for rapid tests is 30-90 days. As such ,only a test after 90bdays can be conclusive.

Hiv 1 is worldwide its the one everyone gets. HIV 2 is less pathogenic but rare to get it more seen in western Africa. If your test is read as non-reactive than is non-reactive unless you had sex again. always get tested 3 months 6 months.

Yes sir eclia and elisa test are similar to each other for detection of hiv 1 and 2 antibodies in human serum or plasma...but little bit both are different methods.. 👍elisa is enzyme link bass and eclia is electro immonossay bass.....

Hi Doc, my sister has been on ART for 10 yrs and lately she tested Negative; NON REACTIVE with a rapid test (microscopic). She did the same test again after 2weeks and it was NEGATIVE but REACTIVE. 2 weeks again she did the ELISA test and It was POSITIVE. Is there an explanation for this?

Yes bro! You need to test after 6 weeks and again after 3 months to rule over HIV but if you tested negative at 19th day the chances of being positive is only 30% which means you are near to safe.Please Contact me for more information.We can Discuss Easily here
