    The thing I love about this episode was that I didn't know why Bryce (stolas' voice) sounded so off in this episode during his song. I thought he was sick, but found out later it was because everytime he tried to sing this song he broke down crying, so finally they just did a full take where he started to cry again and just let him go with it. Makes it so much more impactful to let the actor feel their emotions for episodes like this.

    The Goetia are all birdlike, but not all of them are owls. Stella's family looks more peacock-like to me.
    Poor Stolas. When he caught her hand, she looked surprised - this is not the first time she's hit him.
    I like the parallel of Stolas and Blitzo both looking at the pictures on their phone after the disastrous "date night". In all the pictures Stolas has, Blitzo looks unhappy to be there; he's reaching the conclusion that Blitzo doesn't care, and is starting to read about Asmodean crystals. And yet, Blitzo did take that selfie of the two of them in bed and keeps it in a collection of his most precious relationship pictures.

    You know, we have to appreciate Stolas strengh to endure Stella all this time if Octavia never suspected a thing until he slept with Blitz. He was probably miserable from day one and no wonder he wasn't very active with Stella in bed, seems like she's just not his type.

      @@Mangalore620 this episode Paimon mentions, "Which one is this?" because he has so many children, i think they're mentioning it's weird Stolas wouldn't see his siblings. However, if you think of how Paimon is a shapeshifter and needed a reminder as to what species Stolas was, it's likely that any siblings he has would've been carried by other women, so they would've been raised in their own households.

      Just to drop some context here about Paimon and Stolas. Yes, Paimon is a shapeshifter and the patriarch of the Goetia family. In regards to the line "there's so f*cking many", Stolas is one of 72 princes of the Ars Goetia from the book "The Lesser Key of Solomon". Each spawn of Paimon is depicted by a different animal and Stolas was the one depicted by an owl. He's also said to be the more benevolent of the princes and will teach any human who summons him anything they want to know about astronomy or botany. He is still a demon though, nice or not, so any attempt to summon him would be ill-advised.

    • @marithflugelhorn7352
      @marithflugelhorn7352 Před 6 měsíci +4

      I want to know about Stolas' mother too. It sure looks like he was raised in that big empty palace by the servants and his father only visited occasionally. No wonder he's tried so hard to give Octavia a more normal life.
      As for S1 episodes 1 and 2, we can guess what must have happened: Stolas backed down in the face of Stella's rage and they did not get divorced after that night, but they started fighting all the time. He convinced himself that Blitzo wasn't just after the book, that they formed a connection on that first night together, and so he came up with the idea of the deal as a way to pretend they were in a relationship. Blitzo was irritated by his phone calls and flirting, but he needs the book so he went along with it. And over time, I think a mutual attachment _has_ developed, but the book deal is in the way and they're both so terrible at communicating.

    Just a heads-up, Dave!! S2 Ep6 "Oops!" has a song called "Look At This" and has been copyright claimed by Alex Brightman, the VA for adult Fizz. You'd do well to not include it in your reaction. I've seen other people having to cut that part from their videos.

    • @marissabrown4193

    • @ravenhurst96
      @ravenhurst96 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@marissabrown4193 Honestly, I have no idea. I noticed a lot of reactions either segmenting the song or just cutting it entirely from their videos. I had no idea what was going on until I saw the VTuber, Aliciaxdeath, do her reaction. She let the song play but cut the audio so her youtube viewers couldn't hear it, only she could, and she put a text up on the screen that the song had been claimed. That was how I found out about the claim, but that's all I know. Just figured I'd give Dave and another channel I follow a heads-up to save them the trouble of finding out the hard way.

      @@ravenhurst96 yeah I also watch Alicia and I made a comment on her video as well, I'm really curious honestly but Google turns up absolutely nothing when I look up reasons, so I suppose it's something that we'll unfortunately just have to wait and see.

    • @ravenhurst96
      @ravenhurst96 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@marissabrown4193 So, I tried to see if maybe he wrote the song and therefore claimed it as a result, but he only performed the song. It was written by Sam Haft who wrote all of the songs in the series so far and none of the other songs have been claimed, to my knowledge. I couldn't find anything either on why Alex was given permission to claim a song he didn't write but maybe it's more complicated than that.

    I have to admit, and I know many will disagree on this, but... next to Moxabuse the Episode (Harvest Moon Festival)... this is my LEAST liked Episode. Probably the same reason why many like it! For me, it doesn't do anything for the characters! It feels like it is there to service the Stolitz fans more than anything else. Sure, this episode is great DRAMA, but to me, it has little substance.
    "Oh look! Stolas has been in love with Blitzo ever since he was a child! So cute!!!!" "Oh look! Stella is just an evil bitch with no character depth to her!!! STOLITZ!!!" "LOOK! BLITZO'S DAD HAS BEEN SO HORRIBLE TO HIM!"
    First of all... even after Blitzo's dad let slip how little he values his son, he still could've made more money out of that than just handing him out for free... For me, it really overindulged that. Also, with a later episode (which, togehter with another one in this season, also is annoying due to how Moxxie's being portrayed), it feels like somebody really has daddy issues...
    For Stolas... Honestly? I think the reveal "He's loved Blitzo since ever!" Kinda... cheapens it. Or, if not, makes it feel less interesting. It feels like "Puppy love for the sake of it." Also, i think "Gay man in horrible marriage" is a bit of an overused trope. Now, i don't think it's been confirmed yet that Stolas is homosexual, but I just think they could've gone with a different sexuality. Maybe Demisexuality (meaning he needs an emotional connection, which he just never created with Stella. Say, he caught Blitzo stealing the book and decided to make a transaction for mutual gain which then developed in him developing an attaction to him)
    ANd, last but not least, Stella... the whole "I love tormenting you!" and such feel like it's there to give Stolitz a (imho unnecessary, due to how she overreacts) moral high ground. "Look! She's been evil all along!!! STOLITZ IS JUSTIFIED!!!" basically. Which, for me, just doesn't mesh with Loo Loo Land. Especially considering how it seems to be something she does iN PUBLIC! When talking to Octavia, Stolas is conflicted, he knows that he's also done wrong! He is tempted to throw Stella under the bus, but doesn't, knowing that it's not just her fault. Then, this episode comes along and reveals: "Nah, Stella has been an abusive monster to him forever!" (which, to me, feels like it was somethignt ey've come up after EPisode 2 of Season 1, as i said, maybe to cater to Stolitz fans). And again, in public. SO, for me, it feels like the scene in Loo LOo Land has been retroactively cheapened by removing that and, basically, telling us: "Stolas should've just told Octavia that he never loved her mother, that her mother has been abusing him for years because she gets off on that, and that she should know it because she isn't even trying to hdie it!"
    For me, this episode throws away a lot of potential of very interesting complexity for Stella and Stolas. An Example: Maybe Stella could've become as abusive to Stolas because she felt that the other noble families were seeing them as weak, as jokes and, potentially, easy pickings. Maybe demon politics are extremely cut-throat. So maybe it was either trowing Stolas under the bus, or risk being considered weak, easy pickings whos holdings should belong to a stronger, more worthy family, which could've had... nasty implications for herself, Stolas and, especially, Octavia!
    My favourite Episode of that season is Ep 6 "Oops"
