- A teen is warning others of the dangers of homemade slime. Jessica Morehead, 16, started making slime about six weeks ago after looking up recipes online. Among the ingredients was borax, a chemical compound that can cause a host of medical issues, including irritation, diarrhea and vomiting. To all of you saying to use contact lens solution, it contains boric acid, which is basically borax. That means even that isn’t completely safe, although it is safer... I use borax sometimes and contact lens solution other times, and I’m absolutely fine. The people who were hurt or made ill from the borax either had an allergy to it, or used it the wrong way.
You should just be careful while using borax like everyone else. Not our fault, you probably weren’t using it correctly.
