The way she just pretends to play a game when she was lost lmao
😂😂😂 her facial expressions in the video is gold 😂😂😂
I kinda like how Shelby looks lost and awkward the second she doesn't have Matt close to her, the mark of a true nerd, you two were made for each other.
That broke my heart. I was dying inside for her.
"Well, I guess I live here now."
nah, she knows exactly where's Matt at. it's just for content
@@AkbarzdesuI’m sure we all felt that effy moment when someone isn’t there for you that moment 😂
@@TonyBullardikr ❤❤
I don't know what my favorite thing about arcades is... is it the overpriced machines? the out of sync guitar hero game that you can't even hear? the dirty, sticky buttons? the smell? the amount of different noises? the one dude taking the basketball game way too seriously? the kids sprinting around?
it's magical
Nah it’s the DAYTOOONAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA you can hear from the food court before you even go in
the creepy dude in his 40s at the dead or alive cabinet making two female characters fight each other🤔🤔🤔
That basketball dude took an L on an adjacent game so he could get double the balls in his own game.
It's gotta be the totally uncalibrated light gun games for me
Hopfully not the kids
The fact that these places still exist is kinda miraculous
They probably went to one where all the games are free-to-play which isn't exactly the same as the original arcades. You can tell because a lot of games said "Press Start" rather than "Insert another coin."
It's totally empty, though. No other customers whatsoever...
@@robertchmielecki2580 seems like the middle of the day. I would guess there's more people in the evening
@@Liwet. How do they make money then, relying on the vending machine sales?
@@AM2K2 Entrance fees.
It is sacrilege to call The Simpsons arcade game not good. It is hands down one of the fairest and most replayable beat em ups of all time. I will literally go to war over this
Unite!
Anytime someone tells me The Simpsons is not the best arcade beat em up, I just assume they never played it.
@@altusshow7574 its just a reskin of x-men
The Simpsons arcade game is the best, and I will join you in battle to defend its honor.
@@spacechannelfiver pretty sure the Simpsons came out before X-Men, but it doesn't matter, because both of them are reskins of TMNT
I love how matt is "taking her" to the arcade and yet shelby is the one driving, logic 100
dont think matt knows how to drive
maybe he told her what direction to go?
@@greyfox4838 yep, probably gave her the location
it's magic how you can put an adress in the GPS or tell someone where to go without telling them what is at that location.
( she probably knew and there where acting for the video, but your comment is still not very clever ...)
Matt is the passenger prince.
The picture for Larry Bird being Dee from it's always sunny was just... Chef's kiss
It's a beautiful thing.
shut up, bird
Bro that was big bird
"I always win"
Dollars comes back out.
Dying
“I didn’t bring money on this date.” Hahahaha 🤣
"it really makes you feel like Porkins." Undrerrated line.
"I don't even know what a quarter is"
she was so real for that.
Man Cliffs of Dover transported me back into a fever dream of red/yellow/blue/green, and orange pips hurtling towards me at breakneck speeds...
The classic early 2000's experience
1:18 I heard somewhere that the first pinball machines didn't have paddles (basically pachinko) and were regulated as gambling. With the addition of paddles they were reclassified.
Isn't pinball without paddles just pachinko?
@@Fuzunga Without paddles and _WITH_ gambling. Otherwise, it's just a marble maze.
That’s basically right; if you had skill and luck on your side, you could win a dollar (gambling?). This is why you see add-a-ball, extra ball, and replay (free game) in flipper pinball instead getting your money back or winning cash.
That backpack makes Shelby look like an 80s cop with suspenders
Hell yeah, Shelby. Dancing to Butterfly on endless repeat is how I got into DDR
Likewise 😂
I love Butterfly is THE theme for DDR
"I'm taking Shelby somewhere"
Shelby Driving:🗿
Matt is a proud passenger prince
The IASIP Larry Bird joke was 10/10.
This was hilarious. Not Shelby throwing it back all the time😂😂. Also, her way of coping with "being all alone "in the arcade was pretending to play arcade games XD
I'm all for Shelby's "Noir Detective Sidekick" look. I really thought the backpack straps were suspenders.
Leaving her alone was so cruel! The second-hand embarrassment nearly killed me.
If we could get an Animal Well review where Shelby does her Dunkey impression for the entire thing, I would be so happy 😭
Take Shelby to Chuck-E-Cheese next.
Are there any still around? A lot of them closed during the pandemic.
I have one 2 blocks away from me, in the town I live in here in Minnesota.
Most arcades down here in Buenos Aires, Argentina are just a small collection of old button-broken, incredibly loose red-balled sticks with classic games like Snow Bros, Street Fighters 2, etc and you'd be lucky to find 1 guitar hero station (shopping malls do have a lot of big machines like shooting games, moto GP, Daytona, etc) but THAT place you TOOK Shelby to looks like Arcade paradise 💚
Larry Bird got me.
"He took me to the arcade." 😑
Matt slept on the couch for three weeks
Totally worth it. 😂
Having a picture of Dee show up when you said Larry Bird is so funny!
She looks like she wants to go home in the thumbnail. lol
Or disappointed 😂
She looks like she wants to go home the entire time she's there and is blowing through everything as fast as possible to do so.
Next episode, Girlfriend Reviews The Jurassic Era.
The way Matt said "battle pod!" was so pure and loving
Shelby twerking to DDR was not on my 2024 bucket list
Ayyy Family Arcade LA!! Love that place, u can instantly tell from the vibrant squiggly neon lights on the ceiling.
Cliffs of Dover was my favorite song to play on Guitar Hero!
Don't worry, Shelby, I used to play Guitar Hero on Expert and also tried it at an arcade recently. I could barely play on Medium and my hand started cramping after 2 songs.
I love your Girlfriend Reviews on location episodes. You guys to come up with so many great moments by using what's in front of you. Whether it's in an Ikea or an arcade, I'll always enjoy these types of videos.
Girlfriend reviews all the games goes hard
I thought Matt was also about to start playing Tekken 8 and participate in Sajam Slam 2 when I read the title
Goes immediately for "Cliffs of Dover", Nice
Literally raised in the arcades as a kid. Thanks for this time capsule into my childhood. Its too bad i dont live anywhere near any of the remaining arcades but im glad you guys get to enjoy one!
The thumbnail makes you look like a disappointed detective
This brings back a lot of nostalgia. My dad used to repair and restore old pinball games on the side to help my uncle(many fond memories of the 2-3 weeks between a table being fixed and my uncle coming to pick it up. We’d get to “test” the table as much as we wanted to make sure no unexpected issues were going to pop up. 🥰 good times). While my uncles main business was restoring player pianos, organs and nickelodeons, there was a stretch in the 80’s where he had a public business near Guelph called Nickelodeon Gardens where people could see/play all the restored items on display. The point being that he had an upstairs section that was a sort of classic arcade. When the real arcades of the time had Street fighter and double dragon, the only video game here was an original Space Invaders cabinet, but even at 9 years old I thought the stuff there was awesome. While about half the items were pinball tables ranging from recent(at the time) early 80’s to 50’s era, the other items were REALLY special.
They ranged from early 1900 to 1950’s machines that I’d give anything to see again. One let you watch a 3 minute boxing match for a nickel that was a flip book of photographs inside that you played/watched by turning a hand crank as you looked in the viewport. Another was almost like a very early pinball that was a baseball game that “pitched” a ball bearing at your single flipper “bat” to score singles, doubles, outs, or home runs depending on where you hit the ball(it had a mechanical scoreboard and could have single or two player vs games where you took turns). There were even target games like arcade versions of the travelling carnival games where you shot bb’s at moving targets for points and a driving game where you steered your model “car” as the conveyor belt lanes with other cars on it had to be steered around.
Sorry for the long post, but I had so many good memories of those years. But more then that, seeing arcades like this one that recreates the nostalgic memories of those 80’s and 90’s hangouts filled with arcade cabinets, it made me think about how little most people know(besides ones like pinball machines, foosball, maybe table hockey) about the arcades before the video games replaced all the electric/mechanical games people played for close to a century. How creative so many of those machines were at somehow creating experiences that oddly enough aged better(I think)then many of the 80’s driving, shooting, sports video games that replaced them. And I find myself wanting to search google to see if there are any vintage arcade museums still operating today where you could go and not just look at but still play them?
That said, arcades in general are just great fun, and glad the channel’s couple got to have some classic fun.
I love the look of disdain as we're at the arcade from Shelby lol
I wonder how many issues they find or if the machines are well maintained
I just got home from an arcade.
King.
Love the random Friends theme song chiptune at 5:30.
@Girlfriend Reviews. (1) Who knew she could rock out so well :) (2) I am equally envious and happy to see this and see her immersed in a arcade. (3) His explanations of the games was smile inducing
Awesome!!! Love the vlog style. More of these please
Shelby singing Pinball Wizard killed me 🤣🤣
That Gauntlet music at 1:19... I'm in love!
Are you sure? It does sound very similar/familiar but I cannot figure out which gauntlet or which world the sound is from. It's really bugging me so if you can think of which one it's from that would be amazing. I check Gauntlet Legends and Dark Legacy and part of me is wondering if they're playing the original classical music that Gauntlet Legends used in their soundtrack
I love this, me and my girlfriend go to Dave & Busters all of the time. our goal is to get enough tickets so that when the next console gen comes out we can get one from the prize room lol
I don't even watch Friends, but that 8 Bit Cover of the Friends Intro song in the background goes so insanely hard.
I honestly love this type of content, just seeing you guys out and about in the wild lol. You guys are hilarious and it's fun seeing how much fun you have
You guys are just so effortlesly funny and fun to watch!
Wizards and Warriors theme playing on acoustic guitar throughout is fun
"I read the thing"
Me (lmfao): Omg, of course she did
I laughed so freaking hard when the money came back out of the vending machine
The high school musical reference was just chefs 💋
I loved this! You can find these “retro” places popping up here and there in fact the one in downtown Pasadena CA is amazing! Looks like you had so much fun! 👍👍
I used to spend all my money in the 18 wheeler game, where you drove a truck with a big steering wheel. I loved it so much that I actually became a truck driver!
I am upset that the Gauntlet music is constantly playing, yet no Gauntlet is shown
we need a part two of this asap!
That Larry Bird edit made me almost shit my pants from laughing
The Midway Presents caught me off guard 😂
Love the use of Death Road to Canada bgm and sfx. It's a very arcade-y game and it fits perfectly
This is so wholesome yet so unhinged lmao. I love it and I wish one day I'll find a relationship like this someday.
the Gauntlet NES music in the background gave me a nostalgic flashback, thank you :)
That moment when Shelby is lost without matt is so sweet 😭
babe wake up!! NEW GFR VLOG 🤩🫶
It does my heart good to see an actual arcade in this day and age
'Stranger Things', 'Wreck-It Ralph', and Shelby's enthusiasm makes it seem like such a magical place...
this video is funny!
I almost caught some nostalgia too :')
i appreciate all the background topical 8bit cover music :D
"I don't even know what a quarter is!" Oof! I felt that.
Matt forgot to bring dollar bills. Cause he’s got amnesiaaaa
Yoooo Family Arcade in LA! This place was a childhood staple for me back in the day
"oh my God, who's that!?" "WHOA" 😆😆
A+ editing, the Luke inserts had me dying from the start.
Larry Bird image of Deandra Reynolds charcter is the funniest sht ever im fuckin done
My fav moment was realizing Shelby owns a vintage coach backpack and i was like “i have that one too!”🤩
Love me some vintage coach ❤
god I love arcades, def wish there were more of them still
Dunno what's better, Shelby singing Pinball Wizard by The Who at 1:45 or Matt turning it into a meme song at 1:50 😂😂
Leaving the comment appreciating the Super Mario Galaxy 2 music used during the NordVPN ad
Really enjoyed this video. Family arcade was the best with friends!
Shelby being lost and pretending to do something, anything just melted my heart
I’m sorry, but the guitar sound when you stroked Guitar Hero was comedic genius 😂😂😂😂😂
The arcade, where I lost so many quarters and was the only place you could play the coolest games for so many years
The 6:07 bit where dee from always sunny is the Larry bird one caught me off guard. Spilled my chocolate milk
i wish i would be as unhinged as shelby in those clips :D :D :D looks like alot of fun
Yo the Larry Bird/Kaitlin Olson sight gag is straight fire hahaha
Is that neon retro arcade in Pasadena? They use to have one near me in Northridge but it shutdown after the pandemic
Shelby looks like a PTA Mom who is not having fun. The arcade is a magical place and she did not appreciate it. Awesome to see all the retro games. You could have spent more time just going over stuff from the 90s. Like how House Of The Dead was always with Cruisin The World or Time Crisis or Crazy Taxi. And how those songs or themes would never leave your head.
If this is what "finally leaving the house" looks like...I need more.
I love that you included pinball!
Once saw a guy dual welding those shotguns in House of the Dead 3. I bet he's winning in life right now.
Took my girlfriend to this exact arcade in LA for our first date when we met irl! Have to say that playing against her in Mario Kart GP and DDR was a lot of fun, and she kicked my ass in Mortal Kombat.
I love these edits! lol
That Chris Pratt smile as the photo booth opened. My adorable meter exploded.
I said, "Oh nooooo, poor Shelby" out loud when she came out of the battle pod.
There was pinball, then Pac-Man then Simpson. Wow.
Great episode! I miss the days of arcades. I'm surprised Matt didn't make Shelby play Ivan Stewart's Off Road. That's one of the classic quarter munchers.
OMG putting in Sweet Dee for Larry Bird has my sides hurting! 🤣🤣
