The Analects, or Lunyu, also known as the Analects of Confucius, are considered a record of the words and acts of the central Chinese thinker and philosopher Confucius and his disciples, as well as the discussions they held. Written during the Spring and Autumn Period through the Warring States Period (ca. 475 BC - 221 BC), the Analects is the representative work of Confucianism and continues to have a substantial influence on Chinese and East Asian thought and values today. William Jennings was a rector of Grasmere, and late colonial chaplain. He served at St. John's Cathedral in Hong Kong. (Summary by Wikipedia and Jing Li)

The reader of this audiobook Jing Li is a perfect pick for reading this book because she can pronounce Chinese names and places perfectly adding authenticity to the reading, accuracy and a proper ethnic feel.
If you have difficulty listening to this, go listen to native accents’ speakers until you learn to pick up English sounds better instead of cursing this academic & qualified reader.

I have a book called "Masterpieces of the Orient" and it has many great works and poems from the middle, central, and far east all the way to Japan. It was where I first read sections of the Analects that were included in it. I was moved greatly by this man from the past. I was a 21 year old American from a small town, still trying to make an attempt at "seeing" the world and to see what all was in me, and what I am. Its been almost 11 years, and I've gotta say, I never would've guessed I would have 2 great families. (My wife and kids, and my teammates at our academy). Im apart of Brazuca TMC Brazilian Jujitsu, on the chin hunters boxing team, and making plans to either pick up where I left of with karate, or wait until we get a proper Muay Thai professor and start that. I wish we had a wing chun professor, but a proper Master is few and far between where I am located. As well I have maintained a nice long term sobriety, and have accumulated a fairly impressive library. Thank you for posting this, and have a good day!

Honestly it took me a few moments to work out definitely "yeah, this is an Asian woman", her accent is that mild. That being said I am British, and the way Asian people speak English often reminds me of that, there's some very good schools in many of the countries there that probably teach as "correct" something rather close to the RP (Queen's/"posh"/my own) accent. Perhaps some of the thicker accented Americans are having issues because it diverges more greatly from their drawl? And if you like varieties of accents, look up the absurd number of English ones, from North Eastern to Cockney to posh to West Country (like pirates on a little valium, that's actually where the stereotypical pirate accent came from), etc etc. It's always struck me as peculiar that we're a tiny island with one fifth the population of the US yet I'm sure our accents have just a little more variety.

I agree completely. While she seems to understand what she is saying, her accent is quite distracting and often makes what she says difficult to understand or requires more than should be required of the listener. I speak Mandarin and am accustomed to interacting in English or Chinese, but still have to listen more carefully than I would wish to this particular recording. Why not use a "native speaker" of the English language for an English language recording??? This is a big question.

When it appeared quite obvious to me that it didn't matter how many freebies & assistance i gave you i wasn't going to get my money i stopped. You know how the business world works 4/20. Incentive. You haven't provided me with any incentive to keep assisting you. When you give me what i need then I'll give you what you need. I saw a 5G symbol on my phone despite the fact it's a 4G phone. I heard 5G won't be switched on in one hit, it will slowly be ramped up. It better not happen where i, my mother or father live or I'll take it as murderous intent. Time is running out 4/20... ...... .........
