I got mine through a trade on a local trading app. Traded for a case of Guinness. So about $20 CDN. Had the same problem. Cleaned with white vinegar and 70% ISP alcohol , and worked randomly but the holder was too far gone. Bought the MS-12 from Nikon and happy days.

Great stuff. I got one pf then with a battery leak... Now the leak wasn't big inside the camera still ot doesn't work after cleaning. Any idea what the reason for that might be?
Did you try replacing the entire battery compartment insert mate. Or look down onto the battery contact point inside the compartment …. Are they corroded ? If so then clean in there also. Let me know how you do
@@robbellphoto yeah I put the new battery holder with new batteries, contacts are clean but I see some acid got into the top part of the camera not much but it looks like it reached the power button
@@furiouzzzz :-( sounds like the power button may be compromised. I never open the outer case myself on the 2000s SLRs , might be worth seeking a pro consult …. Probably looking at $100 + for that but if the camera is otherwise good, at least you’ll know that you get a working 100 after the service
@Robert Bell I'm gotta get it services for sure. On the positive side, I got F3 from Japan (just like the broken F100) as a broken unit hence the price was low. It turned out the camera had no batteries other than that it works perfectly

I have an Nikon F100 and I was taking pictures today but when I try and take a photo it says error.
It is on F22 and I tried two different lenses and the same thing happens. When I press on the depth of field control preview button, it does not work. Any idea what it is?

Battery acid will eat the circuit board copper and damage chips. You cannot always clean just the obvious problem. The acid often travels into the camera and can short out a part if you power it. on.
It’s not acid, dummy.
Unfortunately, in some cases with an electronic camera like the F100 the corrosion goes further than just the battery compartment. It can actually travel through the wires to the circuitry. In that case the camera is not recoverable.
TRUTH ! please folks , do not leave batteries in your electronics
