  • Welcome aboard the Metro Red Line! This train's final destination is North Hollywood station.
A couple days ago I had the chance to film out the front window of the cab of the Ansaldobreda A650 HRV from the origination point of Union Station to the train's final destination of North Hollywood. This is a very rare view that not a lot of people get to see. This particular A650 was equipped with traction motors by GE, which make the distinctive "whine" sound due to the DC to AC inverters. Thanks for watching and enjoy the sights, sounds, and exhilaration of riding through the underground tunnels at up to 70mph under Hollywood Hills!

    Nice video!
I wish Los Angeles' subway was very developed (with about a network of 13-14 lines), a subway comparable to the size of London, Paris and Tokyo.
Los Angeles is a city with a metro population of about 18 million population, and two lines of subway (plus 4 lines of light rail) is simply not enough.
But unfortunately, I think it's very unlikely that Los Angeles will be able to have a subway of the size of London/Paris/Tokyo due most of their habitants preferring to drive.
The Red line (now called Line B lol) stations look very nice too!

Going to North Hollywood, the Red Line leaves from Union Station, the cost is $1.75/ride which can be paid with cash or easier by buying and loading a metro tap fare card which can be bought from vending machines in stations or on above ground platforms. The blue , gold and purple lines all start from Union Station . The Blue and Gold lines are also above ground , the blue Line goes to Long Beach and The gold line goes to Pasadena. The Green line goes from Redondo Beach to Norwalk with a station near LAX. The Expo line travels between Santa Monica and Downtown LA . The purple line travels between Downtown LA and Mid Wilshire and there is a light rail line being built that'll link the Crenshaw district with LAX. Hope this helps
