Ryan Cavanaugh plays the Ralph Stanley classic "Clinch Mountain Backstep" on a new Deering Goodtime Special Deco banjo. The Goodtime Special Deco features a steel tone ring and maple resonator to produce a bright, crisp, bluegrass banjo tone. The new Deco banjos also feature bronze powder finished hardware as well as art-deco inspired inlays and peghead engraving. As with all of our banjos, these are made in U.S.A.

Sounds great and looks good. Regarding the comment about maple necks most Fenders have maple necks - solid, stable, and the neck material contributes little to the tone doubtless less on a banjo.
