[2022] How to Install Windows 11 on Mac with Virtual Box (Intel)

- Hi! Welcome back to the Indigo Software CZcams Channel. In this video we show you how to run Windows 11 on your Intel Mac (also works for windows 10 and older) using a free program called VirtualBox. Virtual Box is a VM software that can easily run Windows from your Mac. Be sure to watch the video until the end because we use bypass methods to ensure proper installation!

Thanks. Does this work on Apple Silicon? Guess Virtual Box is still not compatible with Apple Silicon!
We don't currently have a video covering this specifically, but it is possible to run Virtualbox on M1/M2 Macs. You need to use Windows 11 ARM in the installation, but most of the other steps would be the same.

I'm on an M2 Pro Mac, so had to register for the MS Insider Program to get access to the right ISO file.

Hey, I didn't receive a product key. Was it because I wasn't logged in to Microsoft when I downloaded the ISO?
You actually need to purchase the product key, which is a different process than downloading the installation file. From there, it's forwarded to your email. In later steps after installation, you'll input the product key to register the OS. Have you already purchased a product? Hello, I have been trying to download windows 11 on my MAC for the past 2 weeks using parallels but keep experiencing unending reboot error. Just encountered your videos and appears I am making progress using this virtual box. hi. I couldn't get to the setup screen all I got was the bsod what should I do?
Hi, hope you're doing well.
Check the following:
Make sure the version of windows in the virtual box setup is correct. Make sure the type is correct.
Also, the most likely issue you have is the virtual box CD setup. As well as the settings that come after.
I'd suggest rewatching from 2:30 and beyond to ensure all of your setup is correct.

@@indigosoftware9625 Thanks it worked here’s my mistake: I accidentally installed a newer version of virtual box and installed the older version of virtual box
After installing the Guest Editions, I now have a blank screen which is still small. Any help?
There are a number of threads and bug reports with the VBoxSVGA support. For the time being I would recommend shutting down the guest and changing it to the older VBoxVGA controller (the one with no S).

Should I keep the ios aftter setting everything up or can that be deleted off my desktop?
You'll need to keep MAC OS as the native OS is required to run anything on Mac.

When I install the extension the screen become black and I can see anything. If I restart the VM, it blocks in the VirtualBox logo...
That's strange. I'd suggest configuring a new VM, and make sure you setup the correct steps.
I have the same problem. Try to rebuild 2 times with different w11 iso and VBox but seems that the extension don’t have the right drivers for MacBook Air Retina 12” early 2016. Any suggestions? Thanks

The best suggestion I have is to either try Parallels Desktop 18 or UTM to run the vm. Hope this helps!
How much storage does this take up on your hard drive?
VirtualBox requires only about 30 MB of hard disk space. You will need enough storage to house your VMs, and VMs can easily start at 10 GB each.
I personally like the dynamically allocated feature of the virtual disk, which allows you to only consume space that is actively used on your VM.

Is this VirtualBox also available for M3 Mac's?
Yes! You can download from the link in the description.
Unfortunately, my Windows VM does not boot.
I had this issue a few times initially when trying this for the first time. I believe it's likely messing up in the part where you create your boot setting (cd) and select the image file.
Without seeing your issue, I'd recommend creating a new VM and carefully repeating the steps where we select the image file in virtual box.

Did you choose any of the “N” version of the OS? You have to select a non N version of the OS, for example Windows 11 home (no N) etc.
