Thomas, this is pure gold. I’m formally a lead engineer at a company, but im filling my role as a software architect and i’ve been asked to build a huge system. I was always confused what would an architect do.
Got so much insights and clarity on what i should be doing as a software architect ✨
Insightful talk! I too feel like the old type of "Architect" (with the title) is a person that just sits in meetings and then makes decisions for others to follow, rather than provide leadership in making decisions.
And today it seems like everyone i talking about architecture in terms iof technology and patterns - being intertwined with design. But architecture is a broad area and takes many factors into account, not only technical code decisions about whether to use microservices or not. Decisions that will affect how to maintain development - stuff that will affect cost.
In cross-functional environments, architecture involves everyone. Though there a places where it is less obvious. It also depends on the people, and how motivated they are in
Interesting talk 👍
Great video!
