The spirit of the Lord
I woke up this morning, April 11 2023, hearing the word Imbeni in my Spirit. I remembered that years ago, I used to listen to a song with that lyric in it, but I could not remember more than a couple words from it, and did not know what Imbeni meant. Turns out it is the Swahili word meaning "SING", and after much searching I finally found the song by the group First Call. It's Called "O TSIFUNI MUNGO"!
Wow! Those kids are awesome!!!
I'm doing this for a school concert
I'm singing this in my choir class.
Same
+Gabe Becker now we are 3
+Nicholesheat43 Now I am too.
I did it with my high school Concert Choir back in my sophomore year. Best song yet I think. And that's not saying much
Lil Pedro same
We do choral fest (where all teh choirs of the school district come and sing) and it's like 1500 kids. We're all singing this song. I cannot wait!!!
Showing my age. Second piece 1987 Marching Band. Love it!
ah, I miss being in choir now. we sang this in 6th grade.
Our 7th and 8th grade choir did this song last year. (I was in it) and honestly, we did great; but you guys did much better than us!
I am singing this song in our spring concert for our school!!!
That was amazing! I wish my choir sounded that good.
Things takes me back to 1993. Had so much fun that year!
93 for me too!
I sang this in a friend's graduate conducting recital! She had us forgo the music and sing this from memory at the last minute. This brought a smile to my face since the recital was one of my happier memories.
I’m singing this in choir ps thanks mr. Fan Does anybody else go to the middle school in Ohio? cuz if so say high to mr . Fan!
My chorus sang this. awsome preformance.
WOW, fabulous job!
Love. I listen to it everytime I'm on here.

This OWNS my school's performance lol
WE ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
3:30 Good Lord she has a good voice
ahh love they killed it
Aahhhhhh! The ending gave me goosebumps! It always does!
I'm just in love with this song! The choir did excellent and I can't find any flaws besides the second soloist was a little early on the second pazeni and the last soloist was a little late at the end. All in all, I love this song and this choir; I can't stop replaying this song!
Great job kids!
I love this song. We did this last year for our Spring concert. There was about 300 choir students wrapped around the auditorium. This is a very fun song.
Did this in a regional choir too! This is awesome!
My chorus class and the seventh grade chorus kids sang this at our concert! ^_^
Like a BOSS.
I loved it. We're doing this song at my school. So much fun :)
My 8th grade choir is singing this! I think were doing a more simple version though, since were younger you know. I just auditioned for some of these solos today actually! Your choir has a really good balance. You know kids in middle school choirs... how no one but that one kid in each section *cough* ME *cough* sings so theres just like.... four kids singing. So anyways great job!
Did this song in '12 and '13 in concert choir for Mater Dei High School
Proud to be kenyan tge sweet swahili language
Great job, Emily Tucker! We are so proud of you!
this sounds great!
I’m singing this for my school concert
My choir is doing it for our xmas concert
Sang this back in 2014 with my Middle school and it was in F Major and G Major transition. I love this version though 3:30 is amazing.

I did this my 7th and 8th grade year and it sounds just as good as this. Maybe even better. I'm a junior now and I'm trying to get our choir director to let us sing it
Uwaaaaa eastern regionals!
Yooooooooo Nutley Middle School here ✌🏼️✌🏼✌🏼
excellent job
My choir doing this song this year I hope we sound as good as these guys
we did this song in december and i miss this song but the teacher wont let us do it for UIL
Well this past summer I went in a mission trip to suswa nairobi and Masai Mara Kenya. This was one of the songs we sang to the people there. They appreciated that we took the time to learn a song in their native language even though most of them speak English. The people who sang this did a great job. I would recommend using less of a choral voice to sing it because Africans use a lot of energy and volume in their music as opposed to the second soloist singing very Legato. Overall good job
I got the chills!
Well done! Great sound from everyone :)
Nice balance and blend! Solid sound and interpretation!
I'm doing this in my concert!!
My spring concert song I GOT THE GIRL SOLO
@nicocorzi Good luck getting it in Spanish. The main two languages of most of Africa is Swahili and English. The composers wanted the audience to hear the same song in English and Swahili together expressing the same thing.
Nice dynamics.
we are singing in this in our chorus now!! this song is soo cool and you guys did sucj a great job! :D this song is awesome
Did this back in 99 in junior high
I had a performance of this today.. they kicked our too ;)
Hi Mr. Salisbury
just sang this in eastern regional :)
Our choir is doing this song for our concert, but we aren't half as good as you guys, especially since our choir has about 35 girls and exactly 5 guys, one of which is never louder than a mouse.
@TheSoulAlchemist22
I think you might be in the same district as I am! 'cause we're doing that tonight :D
soooo good. our choir did this in 8th grade, we were good. but, not like this, lol.
Me too were singing this for our school concert
wow this is so nice and you singing in swahili!
my chorus class is doing the same song, but they sound waaaay different.
i love this song. i did it sometime in my middle school years and im doing it again this year. this time, my choir director is trying to change the words so that they seem 'all-inclusive.' i disagree completely with her decision, and i hope she changes her mind.
me too i am doing this in my choir concert
Amen to clap-hating!
That girl with the reddish brown hair is a really good singer
Very good performance..
did this back in 2005
Im performing aa solo in this tomorrow night!!!
im doing this song for my winter concert im chorus
@Pinkmanatee25 it shouldnt im doing it in my chrous class and i'm in 6th grade soooo............. we are WAAAY ahead of you.....
These guys rocked it. Is there a deep voice near the end? It sounds like the choir belched a little. That sound is mesmerizing. I wish I had it like that. That's super low and so full of body. I can't believe that sound can be projected like that. I guess it's a bosso profundo? I just heard of Oktavist. That's some low stuff. Sounds amazing. This song rocks!
@zscherz25 no, it's probably because that's the way that the music is written...
Wow. The first two video's i see and they're either faster or slower then ours. (we just performed this)
Who is watching now ?
1st soloist has a mohawk :D
Good
is that summers playing to congas
I am doing this song in my choir, but we do it faster. :)
Nvm I I'm corrected.
just a quick question, who did this arrangement? Thanks
Gaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh where are the altos?! Didn't hear them at all.
Please song in spanish!?
almost sounds like my schools chior performance excpt ours was 7TH 8TH and high schoolers lol and ours was abit slower
i m singing this song in my choir so this really good practice, they sing really good
I don't like how they switched it up
Not bad, my high school choir is doing this for Chorus 1 and 2... Not half bad... Although, the vowel placement could be MUCH better.... It has to be AUTHENTIC and swahili has clean vowels... the other thing is your soloists, very nice voices however, they sounded nasaly and could also use work... And the feeling(emotion) is wayyyy to rehearsed.... Most of them look as though they dont want to be there... :P Not bad though!!! :D We were told to use this to help with our voice parts...
homework anyone?
We sang this 2 years ago in the seventh grade and our vowels sounded better. That is sad because this is a highschool choir
