I can't help feeling that you have left a lot of important features out of your review so as the proud new owner of this bike I would like to add a few things here that seem to have been missed:
There are reasons to buy this bike other than the DCT (which is just an option). Unlike for example the BMW 1250 it has fully customisable throttle response, wheelie control, traction control, and suspension. There are even two fully configurable user modes. You can set this bike up exactly as you want and ignore those chosen for your convenience factory modes .
It is the only bike with integrated android auto and apple carplay. Also unlike the BMW the TFT is touchscreen and when stopped this makes navigation and setup changes fast, as far as I am aware it is also the only bike offering this feature. It's cornering lights work a lot better than the complicated BMW attempt at the same thing, and with a full 21" front wheel it handles far better off road than the BMW which is much heavier, has much less ground clearance and is inclined to wallow and bottom out.
Its a Honda and won't breakdown as often as a BMW which in my experience is inclined to cark it on corrugated outback roads, and if it does break an Africa Twin is cheaper to repair. It definitely doesn't have the oomph of the big Beemer, but still has plenty and a shit ton of torque. Also it is cheaper to buy than the BMW. Don't get me wrong BMW adventure bikes are great if you are going to stay on pavement. Wonderful machines for going from hotel to hotel with a film crew. In this they excel, just superb, but as an adventure bike where you want to, well ... adventure in say the outback .... Well then give me the Africa twin over the big Beemer every single time.
Lastly, and I know that this is a very subjective judgement, but I think that it just looks fabulous again and not wanting to beat a dead horse but lot better than the 1250 which is a bit of an ugly duckling in my opinion.

I would put my GSA against the AT anytime...I have a 21 with over 33k and not one mechanical issue....suspension is superior and off road equally capable if not better....you love your bike and I love mine...I rode a 21 manual AT recently and no comparison....but each their own....there were some things I liked but doesn't hold up against the GSA...

@@lifesjourneyat50 glad to hear you love your bike and especially that it has had no mechanical issues; I compared these two bikes because they are a bit familiar to me, and the Big Beemer is certainly a superior touring bike to the AT. But I have seen what happens to a 1250 when used for days on corrugated outback dirt roads and it wasn't pretty, (some kind of failure with the cardan shaft if I recall he was not going anywhere, needed rescue.) Whenever I ask BMW riders if they have ever had any issues with their bike the response tends to be the same "No none at all ... except". To each his own. Good luck with the bike. Keep the black side down!😉

I must’ve watched hours and hours of motorcycle reviews on CZcams but this is the most objective, well presented review I’ve ever watched. King regards from Barcelona!

I'm glad you enjoyed it even though it only presents the positives about the bike. But that sometimes is what we need.

LOVE my 2022 ATAS DCT. Completely reliable, plenty of power, is beautiful, very capable off road, very comfortable on road, strong dealer network. Can't imagine a better bike (for me).

This is very nice to read that you're happy with the bike. I totally can see the appeal of it. And to me, the name Africa Twin, the heritage and the whole legend make it unique. All the best with your bike!

I have a 2020 version with your spec plus the foot change. It’s excellent if expensive.

I to też pewna opcja! Ja trochę na odwrót miałem z odczuciami, bo DCT zrobiło na mnie wielkie wrażenie. Ale super, że Honda daje tak duże możliwości wyboru wersji i opcji.

I am surprised out how loud the exhaust is in your video. Has the exhaust been modified? I thought it had an Akropovic unit on it but see it is the stock muffler

The standard exhaust is quite loud at higher RPM, but fairly quiet at low RPM.

It is really loud when riding too. But the enjoyable kind of loud.

3:33 - yeah, that happened to me at low speed. I was upgrading from a CB500, gave it a little too much throttle, grabbed the non-existent clutch, panicked and went for the front brake. I know now you just cover the back brake instead & use that instead of the clutch. Yeah, I dropped my new bike. 😞
I kinda wish they still had a lever there you could use to de-clutch the bike though. If you whiskey throttle it, what do you do to save yourself? Kick the side-stand down?

    • @VToldsMotoShow
      @VToldsMotoShow  Před rokem

Oh yes, I know what you mean - this happened to me on an electric bike and I very much didn't like the feeling. Still have this uncomfortable sensation of humiliation when I think about it. I managed to close the throttle somehow but once you're hanging onto the handlebar with the throttle suddenly opened too far, it's pretty confusing when having no clutch. Somehow it sounds like a simple scenario and an obstacle to overcome but real life shows that it's not. Anyway, it just requires getting used to I guess.

I believe that they might've been Honda's original accessories as this was a dealer's bike.
