    This was SO helpful! I already use a flash bender but have been keeping my ISO waaaaay low, like 100. And yes, my batteries die so fast. Had no idea that was why! I’ve been dreading getting a second flash/stand but this video just gave me the push I needed to know what to do! Thank you so so much for all your time and effort into educating other photographers!❤️❤️

    I’ve been shooting for ten years and never got the hang of flash and have always been sooo intimidated by it but this actually makes sense finally!!

    • @anthonypaladino1006
      @anthonypaladino1006 Před 4 lety

      Emily actually this was not a helpful video at all.First of all it is essential to know camera exposure if you don't you will never understand flash. Exposure should be done with camera in manual mode only. The reason is your camera has a built Reflective Light meter and you need to learn how to meter for a correct exposure based upon the F-stop & ISO you choose. Once you have this ingrained in your mind , flash becomes much easier. Without going into great detail you can do most of your flash in TTL mode. This applies to flash on camera and off camera, remember never point the flash directly at your subject. Hopes this helps.

    Have you considered the Godox V1c with a lithium battery and the XPRO c controller? You could buy 2 V1 speedlights and a XPro controller for the price of one Canon flash! The V1 has a built in transmitter/transceiver and a channel scanner for best reception. The battery is good for 480 full power flashes so at 1/32th power that is over 15000 flashes per full battery!! Way more than the 300 you’ll get with eneloop AA batteries.

    Hey Hope! So thankful for this video and your channel. I have a question about flash and shooting large family photos at reception. If you had about 30 people in the photo and 2-3 rows would you shoot wide open, or would you shoot closer to 5.6 or higher to get everyone in focus with a flash? Thanks so much!

    • @HopeTaylor

  • @eddyalmaguer1758

    Hope, for the reception dancing portion, any reason you wouldn't want a second off-camera flash giving you three total? I've seen some photogs opt for two off-camera flash opposite each other, and then the on-camera flash with you allowing you to move wherever you'd like while still getting constant lighting from the corners.

    • @HopeTaylor
      @HopeTaylor  Před 2 lety

      Hi Eddy! I personally don't feel the need for this unless the dance floor is MASSIVE for some reason. The flash bender works well to light from any angle!
