- Check out this designer Lamp-shelf made with Dollar Tree materials. This has gotta be my favorite Dollar Tree home decor project on my channel. I added my touch of glam to both of the lamp-shelves. Even if you are a Farmhouse lover this is a DIY you can customize to go with your decor. I made two of these. Each lampshade is different but both shelves are made the exact same way. I hope you enjoy this video and are inspired. Thank you so much for watching!
Materials for this project will be for ONE lamp - Dollar Tree
13 - canvases
4 - cutting boards
1- plant hanging basket
3 or 4 - rolls sheer ribbon or gems (if gems you'll need dowels)
1 - 3 pk clear folder
1- extension cord
Zip Ties
Wire
Other :
LED Bulb
Plug in light socket
On / Off Switch
Glass Gems
Everything not Dollar Tree is all on one easy to find Amazon Page. I keep my page updated. Anything I use or purchase myself like gems, mosaic mirrors, or other supplies you can always find on my Amazon Page or just check em out to see what they look like so you can buy somewhere else in stores.

This is the best deal on the glass gems but it's NOT the best deal overall. If you're cool with acrylic gems (btw I ordered the acrylic ones too & haven't received them yet) you can get 99ft for nearly the same price as 30ft of the glass gems. You can come back here and I'll give an update on the quality of the acrylic ones after I receive them and let you know. It should be one day this week. Today's date April 14th 2019

The chandelier gems are glass too and for some reason these aren't a lot of difference price wise as the acrylic gems. I'm so very happy with these, They're so clear and have a lot of crystal cuts in the glass.
** THE STORY THAT INSPIRED THIS DIY
A company reaches out to me and wants to work together. This company sells lamps and that's virtually all they sell. They tell me they want a dedicated video & they want to host a giveaway. After the 2nd email, I replied giving them low rates since they offered to host a giveaway. A few days later I get another email asking if my previous email was still relevant. She said again they would like to work with me & apologized for the delayed response. That was no problem I totally understood.
Since they offered to host a giveaway they would get two videos but announcing the winner in the second video wasn't all they wanted. They wanted two full-blown advertising segments with several minutes of promotion in EACH video. She wanted to know what two lamps I wanted for myself. I didn't even realize they offered me two, or so they said. I still had questions about what all she expected from me so I break it all down in an email and share what all I'd been working on regarding the giveaway which had some straight forward questions. It wasn't until the 10th email she tells me this. OH, we weren't gonna give one away to your viewers this time, we meant we wanted to do that some other time later in the future.
She goes on to say they were just gonna give me one lamp, not two. Honestly, that was fine but it's not what you said.
Creators wanna give back to their community if and when they have the opportunity. I can only hope nobody else will fall for their games. I can't say for certain but it appears I was gonna end up finding out AFTER I MADE the video that they didn't intend on sending you guys a lamp nor my supposed 2nd one.
The kicker was letting me know they don't pay for advertising & promotions. They wanted me to do all the work in return for a lamp. Another words the value of a creators time & effort for what all it takes to film, edit, create, plus the use of their equipment such as camera, lights, data, setting up, editor, editing the video itself, processor, researching their website and products, etc all that is worth the bare minimum they have invested in a lamp? If they would've just been honest from the beginning I wouldn't have created these lamp-shelves so in a way I guess I owe them a thank you.
These things are not unusual. Companies try to get over on creators all the time. I'm just happy I was able to walk away from this with a positive outcome. Hopefully bc of an email that started weeks before this diy, you're inspired to create something too & maybe keep an eye out for a company that sells just lamps, lol. Thank you for watching. I think they are both very beautiful and it is nice to know that you could change it up some and add a little more color to the project by choosing a different color tulle or even gems. White is great, but I think it would look even better with a little more color to it, especially if you have children that love color and want to do something like this in their room. You can also design one that would work in a boys room too just by switching up how you decorate the shade part of the furniture.
Hi Nicole, yes you are exactly right! I love your comment. You could totally make this fit any style or theme by changing the colors. I even thought of adding some light pink in the top myself but yeah you could even change the color of the shelf if you wanted. So glad you like this idea, thank you

TFS, I like both lamps, and would like to tinker around with some ideas. If I was to change anything, it'd be the hanging basket part. It's ok but managed to trip my O.C.D. with three legs on one side, and two on the other. Anyhow pretty lamps.

Love them both, u did a great job they’re both gorgeous. My bedroom Decour is BoHo Gypsy and my kitchen and living room Decour is Farmhouse so I will be making two of these. I will adapt one in the BoHo style and one in the Farmhouse style. Thanks for the inspiration.

Oh I know it, me and my big ideas lol. I could've just finished making the one I started last week but nooooo I had to make two. I ran out of materials twice so I had to stop and start several times and before I knew it it was time to go back to work before I could get the video edited. Bling, bling, bling! Guess which one is my favorite. Gosh darn it, my DT doesn't have the cutting boards yet! What does a girl have to do? I live in the country and the nearest DT is a half hour away. The next closest is another half hour past that. I hate ordering things cause it takes so long to get to the store. Geez...... I really like both but I like the sheer 1 the best. What I would more than likely do, if I make it, jems on side, sheer front.
That plug in light socket.....my parents had a couple of those when I was younger, 1 of them had a pull string to turn the light on and off

As far as the light socket, this was back in the 70s. But they kept working until I lost track of them early 90s
Sheer fabric is called"tulle" but I love this, elegant looking I'm going to wrap mine with fairy lights:)

Yes yes yes yes girlfriend the plug in socket adapter is everything. I've been showing these for a while on my channel and I always here from people that didn't know they existed. Check this out ... they even make them with switches. I didn't know that until after I posted this video. I always buy them at the Hardware store. BTW Lowe's is $2. These are a HUGE game changer with diys.
