One thing I liked is how Alejandro Vargas spoke Spanish at realistic points in the story. Most games who have characters from other nationalities barely speak their native tongue on-screen for the sake of the player understanding them and not needing subtitles.
But he speaks Spanish entirely when it's just him and his own comrades. He only uses English when he's talking to the other 141 members.
That's some good attention to detail.

Honestly, feels refreshing after playing through games like Forza Horizon 5 or Assassin's Creed, where the foreign language cast dives in and out of their native tongue at random moments.

I do wish more Campaigns would be like the Shadow Company mission with just another grunt like Dipaolo. We're getting saturated with elite operative type team narratives that I start to miss the times of MoH and COD where you're a participant to the overarching plot rather than spearheading it. That's what I think made MW2 so engaging by playing as Allen and Ramirez because there's a nice contrast between a guy stopping a nuke launch to a guy covering the evac of troops/civilians from the Washington Monument.

Honestly, Cold War is meh (my opinion). It's a generic game at best, it really doesn't make sense that a villain like Perseus is only in the game for 4 scenes in game. Some things in the campaign are memorable, such as the mission where you're undercover and returning to Mt. Yamantau, but thats really about it. Campaign wise its a massive step backwards... in my opinion.

Cold War had its dull moments but I really enjoyed the exploration in Lubyanka and the Vietnam sequence. Also really enjoyed the world building and puzzle solving in the hub world. It's an RPG Lite, but way more interesting. Maybe I just like the theme more?

I personally I fell in love with the storytelling from OG MW, and I have played every campaign since then (except Black Ops 4, of course.) I loved MW2019’s story because it felt way more grounded than the previous space opera style campaigns (which weren’t bad, but I feel COD is best when it has a seat in reality,) so MW2 keeping that grounding and still managing to evolve the story with Soap, Ghost, and Alejandro is such a pleasant surprise.
After Vanguard went off the rails I was terrified they’d ruin what MW2019 built; but I am so glad that they didn’t. You should absolutely play the classics listed in the comment above me; Black Ops 1 and 2 are amazing experiences on their own.

Great video! Personally, I feel like the writers had a safe play this time around with the story; Lots of instances that had me biting my nails, only to kind of be disappointed that the tension led nowhere? Take for instance, the first mission following Alejandro, or the New Amsterdam mission. They definitely took the time to show off mechanics and new elements of gameplay that they've introduced. Take the concealing weapon mechanic, or the CIA injector-thingy-mabob. Now, both these missions, have a tiny tension point.
At both points, there's an air of tension that there could be serious consequence for action, or inaction. Yet, instead of allowing these things, you sooner find yourself at a game-over screen, reloading the next checkpoint, as opposed to having your jaw drop, and everything that you think you knew swept from the table.
You're best off comparing the reboot trilogy to the original, like you would compare the new Star Wars with the original trilogy. It has it's moments, it makes sure to include fan-service for those that remember or who'd played the original, but never does it come close to a No Russian. There are no twists like Loose Ends. There is no knife twirling in your 2v1 Rust match like Endgame. No 50,000 people, no 30,000 gone in the blink of an eye. Just a safe story, something to tell your kids about. The action heroes who save the day.
Sad, really. Never do I expect a story like Disco Elysium out of something like Call of Duty, but-- The spirit was there, once, where'd it end up going? Maybe it's just nostalgia, maybe the industry is lacking innovators, not sure. I just know this left me wanting more, with so many different chances for them to have done so.

Not gonna lie, I’m still burnt out on CoD since MW3. My first CoD was World at War, and I remember getting it just for the zombies mode, but I actually really enjoyed the campaign and the multiplayer. I liked it so much that I even picked up MW2 when it came out, and that was probably my favorite in the franchise. The campaign was epic, and I prestiged at least like 3 or 4 times (and then I did the same in Black Ops)
I think I beat mw3, but I barely remember it, (you get to play as a dog for some parts, if I remember correctly) and I played a fair bit of the multiplayer, the survival mode thing was pretty interesting, but at the end of it, I was all Call of Dutied out. I skipped black ops 2, and whatever else until CoD: Ghosts came out, and I thought maybe I’d want to play it. So I bought it, and played it for all of maybe 3 or 4 hours. Ever since I have not wanted to play a CoD game.

NVG tubes are mounted to your helmet and then reach about three to four inches off the helmet. Not only that, but NVG's project a very flat image, messaging with your depth perception, making even lining up with an optic extremely difficult. Pretty much every CoD campaign ends in an extremely anti-climatic way, with you just walking through a corridor and the game ending (peaking at BOPs 2 with you falling through a collapsing floor and falling literally over the main antagonist).
So even if its just a tank with a huge health bar, that's already better than the alternative. Even if it's frustrating, hey come on, it's the last battle in the game, it's testing all your skills and reflexes you developed through the game, it's supposed to be extra challenging.

If activision want to earn back the trust of their old time fans then they should released 2019 as a bonus pack alongside MW2022 at around £35-40 then I'd seriously reconsider taking the steel padlock off my wallet. But when it comes to activision it seems misdeeds & empty promises speak louder than action. I agree well thought out Boss fights should be a common stable within COD even SOF12 and (it pains me to admit even Payback) all had boss fights in em, though the 1st has objectively the best final Boss battle against a dude an iron man suit. As for the file size there's no reason for COD to be over 40gb even with its MP mode Warzone & all that other shit the vault edition & upgrade that costs three times the price of the the base game and it makes me shake my head in utter disgust. How do tell when a multi bijillion $ game studio is nothing but spineless criminal front...when they're caught red handed for trying steal artwork from an indy studio yes activision stole artwork for promotional material for 2019 from the devs of Black Powder, Red Earth.

So after 2019 came out and you had missions like clean the house and the wolfs den, I was like oh they are probably going to see how well those missions did and they’re going to make an entire campaign like that that is completely bad ass. Instead, it just absolutely sucked. Lots of sneaking around and crafting things, lots of missions where I barely get to kill anyone yet I’m handed lots of guns, a jumbled mess of a story that didn’t really make much sense, graphics that were worse than 2019, and a practical tutorial for Warzone 2. I could go on but you get the picture. Why do they always do this to us? Why do they have to make some thing better after years of junk and then immediately screw it up when they try and do a sequel? Why does everyone suck all the time these days? 05:52 Thank you for mentioning the variety of mechanics in MW2022, as so far, I rarely see people give credit for IW's effort in it. Yeah, the point of a shooter game is to shoot the enemies, but in the campaign, the AI is not that smart, so it doesn't give me that satisfaction like I get when taking down an actual player in the multiplayer. So in many previous COD campaigns, as the game reached its end, I found the AI shooting gameplay loop started to get tedious since that was what I had been doing from mission to mission. So mixing up the gameplay in MW2022 with the driving, sneaking in the Cartel's vila, survival crafting, and guiding Ghost through the prison keeps the game fresh. Yes, I do agree with the criticism that IW's implementation of these mechanics is lackluster, the driving mission goes on longer than it should and the switching to survival crafting kills the tension in what is supposed to be the climactic ending battle. But in the end, despite the flaws, I still appreciate the amount of effort the devs put into the campaign.

I first timed the campaign on Veteran. Did the same with MW2019, only on Realistic (same thing, but this time that was locked until completion). It's a great experience, in my eyes. Makes you careful. Makes you pace yourself. Sure, there are moments where you feel cheated out of it, but you also feel the 'bad luck' of real war. You don't often get a fair fight. Nor do your enemies.

It’s also pretty amazing how they notched up the gameplay every now and then to keep your mind sharp as well. I’m gonna look into buying this because like you, I also played these games for the campaign and the execution and results of the older games at times felt all over the place.
