    I have a Nissan GT-R and I'm really contemplating moving into an LC500. This car is much more sophisticated in design quality. Many tell me it would be a performance downgrade which is true but this car is in a league of its own which I appreciate.

    The 30 mpg is because the engine transforms to an Atkinson cycle (usually used in hybrid applications - the intake valve train changes to Late Intake Valve Closing (LIVC) when cruising at highway speeds where the power requirements at low. If you need power the engine immediately switches back to Otto cycle and away you go. This Atkinson cycle provides the improvement in FE (over the 26 mpg EPA hwy number) Not sure why Lexus does not advertize this feature. I won a coupe and every trip I get 30-32 mpg at 70-75mph)

    Great review and I agree with all your points! I have the 2020 Inspiration Edition and absolutely LOVE everything about my car. Also, the Climate Control System (Inside of Infotainment) has a function called "Concierge" mode. This is a "Set-It and Forget-It" mode that If enabled, will automatically control ALL of your Climate, Seat and Steering Wheel heat conditions based on the Temperature you have set on the display. The car will then monitor the inside and outside temps and adjust the Climate, Seats and Steering wheel Automatically to meet or maintain the temp setting you have applied. As an example, I live in the Atlanta, Georgia area, where on a Spring day it could be 40 degrees in the morning, but 80 degrees in the afternoon. In the morning, Concierge mode will turn the Seat and Steering wheel heat on, but in the afternoon, it will turn the Seat Cooling on. It will even control the level of seat heat or cooling that is needed and will step down from the Maximum as the comfort level conditions are met. This is all Automatic and is based on whatever the Temp is that you have set on the display. I love this mode and I NEVER have to touch anything other than the button on the panel to raise or lower the Temperature. Hope this helps!

      @UtahJohnnyL  Před 2 lety +8

      Thanks much, Larry! I appreciate the info and was aware of it, however for those that enjoy lower-back heat separate from climate temps, it's still the cumbersome step to get there. Congratulations on your Inspiration Edition! Cheers!

    I had a 2020 LC and I loved it. I eventually traded it in and got an R8 because it has always been my dream car but I do miss the Lexus (hence me watching this video). I was probably asked 20 times if it was an LFA as well lol. It pains me to hear that they did away with the V8 version. They are really screwing up all the good cars. Great review and it looks great lowered. I hated the center console. I actually broke it a month after I got it and I would have to replace the whole inside to fix it 😔

    Congrats on your ownership. Black would have been nice, but I think you got the better color as you get a better overall contrast. It is definitely under-rated. It may not be better in overall performance like some of the German choices, but to really see the real difference, you need to take to the track…and how many people do that in the real world. Plus overall the maintenance requirement is less with the Lexus.

    It’s sad this car didn’t sell too well because it discouraged Lexus from making this car a bigger deal with a longer future. It’s an AMAZING CAR. We were robbed of the LC F because of those low sales
    That would have been epic. Once this car market cools down I m buying one of these used. It’s the perfect car to buy with a few miles on it because it’s a Japanese car at the end of the day

      @cavaleermountaineer3839 Před 2 lety +1

      It is a shame but the looks weren't a familiar enough beauty and the performance wasn't stunning, glorious engine notwithstanding. They should've put the LFA's powertrain in this, made it a bit longer, and it would've been known as the "baby LFA". Instead they tried to emulate the Maserati Granturismo but they made it too small. The Japanese struggle with these matters, like Honda and the NSX uncertainty and confusion. It actually is a cultural thing.

      MB, Audi, and BMW (excluding all the top luxury brands) have GT cars that looks better and performs much better than the LC500.
      But it’s just my opinion. I’d take an MB SL500 or their GT C or even the BMW M4 or M6 coupes. Arguably, the oddball potential to keep value or become a sort of collector’s item would be the LC500 but I doubt it’ll become a classic anytime soon.

Several of my services at the dealer were also covered under an extended service plan on my car. If you've owned a Lexus before, you'll know just how wonderful their service/customer care is. Other brands need to learn from them. Insurance is on-par with competitors, and fuel consumption is better than anything else nearing 500hp. All in all, a very positive experience. :-)

You'll always get more rubber (tire profile) with a 20" but the 21's are not bad at all. As I mentioned in the video, I am old enough to NOT sacrifice the comfort with these great cars and adding the springs and wheels (which again are the same diameter as OEM, just different offsets), was a great improvement in my mind. Many professional auto journalists have reviewed these cars with positive accolades given. Many felt the suspension to be slightly soft (as it should be since it's a GT car), but adding the slightly firmer springs turns this car into a GT car with a sporty feel in the canyons. Everyone is different and have different desires/goals. ;-) Cheers!

    I’m looking to replace my older 2008 Lexus IS250 and getting these. Well, Maybe I should keep that older IS250 because it’s been super dependable. I am seriously looking at this LC500 or a new IS, but the IS500. Lexus, beautiful cars. They truly never age. Timeless

    You are the most suitable owner of the vehicle. Tall, a US resident and loving the car. I know a Japanese automobile journalist who has the convertible version of this car and hates it. He is a short guy who lives in Japan complaining car is too much for him and the Japanese road. Sounds terrible for his profession yet guy is popular there for reasons I don’t understand.
    The car is most suited for big American road and big guy like you. I’m glad to see you loving it. Hope you keep it forever because the car really suits you.

    Hi, enjoyed your video presentation of the 2018 Lexus LC 500. So encouraging that you have no complaints and are still so enthusiastic after two years of ownership, I have had my 2018 for 5 days and am thrilled with the ride and the sound it makes as I make my way up and down the gears. So impressed. Beats the pants off enjoyment of my former Porsche 911 Turbo in every way. I spent two months test driving variously cars (Mercedes GT 63S, BMW M6 Competition, Porsche Panamera 4S) and was about to give up when I was fortunate enough to walk back into a Mercedes dealership to find the LC 500 featured on the showroom floor. After a 20 minute test drive I was convinced and the rest is history, signed up on the spot. The salesman put a sold sign on it right away as other customers were starting to circle the car. Anyway, to make a long story short I am in LOOOOOVE...Already thinking of ordering a new 2024.

    Hi Johnny, I have a couple questions. First I was wondering which RS-R springs did you get? Did you get just the lower springs or did you go with the coilovers? (significant price between those two) so wondering which you went with and does it bother the hardness or softness of the mag ride system any? Second, I was wondering if you have the Concierge option on your car? If so, does it help any with offsetting the awkwardness of of the mousepad heater/air controls? Some have said if you use the concierge it almost eliminates the issues of having to dig through the menus to find the a/c - heat controls. Have you found that to be true or do you still have to dig down daily or weekly to change the settings on the heat-a/c? I have been searching for one of these in cars the Vegas area and its not easy to find one. I WILL get one (just a matter of finding the right one) as the small quirks it has does not deter me. I love its looks, engine, and all of the reviews say the comfort is great, so I have to give it a go. I was searching for a 4-door lexus like the LS 500, but until they put the engine from the LC 500 in the LS 500 I have to go with the LC. I love V8's. Thanks for this review, as someone looking for this car, your review helps. I was hoping you would go a little bit into the reliability of this car and any maintenance costs for the past 2 years but I still got a lot out of your review. It just makes me still want to get this car. Thanks again and take care.

      Hi Shawn, glad the review helped. I did just replace the springs with the RSR's, not the complete coilover system. The springs have been on for 2 years now with no issues and the ride is great. All functions of the suspension settings are still 100% functional, it's just a little lower and handles better on spirited canyon drives.
      The HVAC system has manual buttons on the dash, and that isn't really the concern, it was primarily the seat heaters/coolers. And yes, you can set and forget it with the concierge mode, but when I like heat on my lower back (on a hot day), it's just a little cumbersome getting into the screen. Not really a big deal.
      Someone else in the comments asked about the costs over the last two years and I am happy to report that I have not had one single issue. Costs associated are just the typical tires/maintenance items. The car also had some prepaid service plan oil changes left so several times I've left the dealership paying nothing. In typical Toyota/Lexus fashion, these are extremely reliable vehicles that are built to last. Hope that helps, cheers!

    The door handle thing is for giving time to the window to slide open and break the seal with the door frame
    i guess 😅
