Clapton, et al are sitting there pinching themselves...they still cannot believe they are in the presence of BB King, much less playing with him. Their 1st concept of music and motivation to play was the likes of the immortal, BB King!

I listened to B B King as a white teenager, played by Randy’s Record Shop in Gallatin, TN. When my friends moaned over Pat Boone, I stayed in my room listening to BB, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Big Mama Thornton, so many I don’t remember them all. Those days are gone. Does anyone else remember? Thanks for this memory

After Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Jimmy Vaughan (in case you don't know, he is Stevie Ray's brother, he played in The Fabulous Thunderbirds... check out "Tuff Enuff") played, I believe that was Robert Randolph who was tearing it up on steel guitar.
I love B.B., got to see him live in the '90's, but this was toward the end for him, not at the top of his game anymore. In his prime, he was sublime, truly awesome.

Yes, that is Robert Randolph on the pedal steel. If you want some fun, check out the Sawyer Brown's video of Paul Thorne's, Mission Temple Fireworks Stand; he just tears it up!

1976, I was 18, a friend and I were heading to the disco on Miami Beach.Across the street was the Marco Polo hotel. The had a sign that said BB KING 2.00 entry, 2 drink minimum. We went inside a small lounge with about 6 people more or less disinterested.BB King was alone on a small stage wailing. In between sets he sat at the bar with us and drank.

I was a 13yr old white girl who lived in a town named Cool, Ca. Population 296. I had a fabulous woman who was student teaching. She had raised her children then became a teacher, a great one as a matter of fact. She took myself and 7 other kids who were in a class of hers. She believed as smart as these other kids were the needed some cultural experience other than that small Northern California town so we made a trip to the San Francisco/Oakland Bay area. I myself had spent a lot of time in the city but these other kids not so much. We went to see 😊B.B.King and Ray Charles, I knew that night that this music was for me. I've never forgot the first time I saw Mr. King perform this song, it was incredible. My teacher was the best, her husband and herself were our chaperones. Those were the days!!!! I saw B.B. 3 more times before he passed. I feel blessed to have that memory🎵🎼🎸🎶

B.B. King is arguably the King, of the Three Kings, with Albert and Freddie. These are the guys who took the newly created electric guitars and changed the world of blues, and then by doing so, made the music that eventually lead to rock and roll, and all that followed. Before The Beatles cut their first record deal, they were playing marathon gigs in Germany, playing this music. Playing the blues, is how they got so good at their instruments.

I got to see BB King live in Seattle in the 80s. I honestly felt that I was in the presence of royalty. Thank you for your reaction and the trip down memory lane

B.B.King and so many other great Blues musicians always showed up at the Ann Arbor Blues Festival, Michigan in the 1970's. We always had a great time watching them perform.

Saw him twice and talked to him briefly once.
Both shows were among my top 4 shows ever.
When thinking of blues, most people don’t think of a TIGHT, HARD ROCKING BAND. But they WERE!!!!

BB King , Eric Clapton , Robert Cray and Jimmy Vaughn .... good Lord it doesn't get much better than that . Except if Leon Russell was playing piano ( may he rest in Peace ) . I've seen Eric Clapton , Robert Cray and Leon Russell multiple times and it was a blessing . I have to say as a child Leon taught me to love rock n roll and the blues like brothers and Elton John called him his greatest influence on piano . I live less than 5 miles from his Memorial in Tulsa , Oklahoma . PK
