James Whitey Bulger is probably the most famous Irish gangster in the United States. Starting as a bank robber like Dillinger, he rose to the head of the main Irish gang of Boston called Winter Hill, which for a long time was considered even more powerful than the local mafia family.
However, to achieve such a position, he managed not by brute force, as is often the case in the criminal world, and cunning and unscrupulousness. Bulger became an informant for the FBI and told everything he knew about the mafia, thereby helping to put the mafiosi one by one. In return, the FBI turned a blind eye to his crimes, and sometimes acted as a silent accomplice.
When the tacit agreement with the bureau was broken, Bulger went on the run and managed to hide for more than 15 years. So if you're interested in hearing how an Irish gangster with FBI patronage conducted his affairs, then meet James Whitey Bulger, on the other side of the law.

Great job in telling Bulger's story! Even though Whitey Bulger was a depraved murderous gangster, it must be said he was one of the most connected and interesting crime figures we have seen in modern times. Doesn't seem like we'll see anyone like this again for quite sometime.

When I was a blackjack dealer in Connecticut I made a joke about Whitey while dealing and a player at my table was, in some way, personally affected by Whitey's crimes and it did not go over well. I almost lost my job. Dealing at Foxwooods then was to all Bostonians. Like 4 out of 5 players were from Boston.

Rest of the world manages without and doesn't have 40000 gun deaths per year (unlike usa) Those that ban guns do better. So yes it is the proliferation of guns and the person.Cheers buddy.

@@_Meng_Lan "If we ban cars there will be less car accidents" How does that logic work? The UK has acid attacks where they throw acid on your face from the back of a motorcycle. They have rap music all about knife play over there. Take one weapon and people will use another. Everything in the constitution is there to allow citizens to limit government. You can argue that we have lost all control over our gov't and that is true. It does not mean we should negate what freedoms we still have.

@@cegould191 true but he was American not Irish. I have similar roots, with my mom being born in Ireland and dad USA. I was born in the USA so I'm American. That's at least my opinion but everyone has their own. If you go to Ireland and say your Irish, someone may correct you and say you're an American.

@@user-hx9iq4yv8n I agree he was an American born citizen. but that would be like telling someone who is born in Texas with Mexican parents that they are American not Mexican most will tell you they are Mexican from Texas. So I think that's what they mean by Irish gangster is that he has Irish roots but from America. He also kept his Irish ties by working with the IRA and such
