Kanako's theme. ...I once had the opportunity to visit the real-life Suwa Shrine in Japan, and it fueled my fascination with how gods like her function. These lyrics follow her ambitious quest for faith, while navigating themes of "traditional versus modern" and "earth versus sky." With her co-goddess Suwako (earth) representing the foundation, they powerfully coexist, but she wants to put herself in focus and go farther. This is the rhetoric of gathering faith from Gensokyo's youkai, creatures "so much like her" whose existence is similarly rooted in belief. Perhaps it's also the rhetoric she gave to Utsuho in Subterranean Animism: to extend her power upwards from within the earth.

I quite enjoy Kanako's perspective on "traditional vs. modern". Indeed, the two can coexist, and it is often important for them to do so. The combination of this theming with aspects of Kanako's story works quite well, and I especially enjoy the last part of the song. Well done!

I’ve always questioned Kanako’s morality and alignment. Mostly cause I didnt understand the plot of MoF. But your lyrics put a different light on her!
She's... selfish but practical? She has a bit of a Dr. Doom mentality, where she means well but is perfectly willing to improve things by conquering others.
I think ZUN intentionally left her to be ambiguous so that players could interpret her personality and motives in different ways, adding creativity and flavor to the fandom and people's headcanons. This goes for other antagonists like Keiki, Mima and, to a lesser extent, Junko as well.
I just think her morality depends on what she’s drinking that day.

I always liked Kanako as the god that actively encourages scientific progress. I know that relligion slowly dies in the science community. On my university (i study physics) people actualy make fun of believers, but this two concepts are not completely contradictionary. As long as you don't answer question about reality with "Such is a will of god", there is nothing wrong with believing in something higher.

Yes! I believe in God, but still love studying science. I believe in God and science. Tho I technically haven't been to church since I was 4 when my grandma used to take me. I stared going to my grandpa's house in Sunday so that was the end of that lol. But I still agree, as someone who believes in God!

From 10 to 11-- While Kanako was recollecting prayers, Okuu came to her asking for powers, she indeed, gave it to her, causing the events of Touhou 11 after Touhou 10
11-12 Since Okuu created the Geyser thanks to her new powers, she accidentaly created a Hole in the barrier in Makai to Gensokyo, releasing the UFO's and thus awaking Byakuren, but also Nue Houjuu again, escaping from Makai
12-13 Since Byakuren, awaken again, decide to create her Shrine in a land, where the Princess of Prince, Toyosatomimi no Miko, was resting un peace down below, after Byakuren disturbed in the resting place of Miko, she was, once again, awake, after the events of the Touhou 12 ceased, Miko escapes from her seal and thus liberating the souls from her place, but also awakening Futatsuiwa from Sado, Mamizou if ya will, from their resting places
13-14 Seija Kijin, seeing the Chaos that Kanako made, she took advantage of it to make a Raid, since she can't use the Miracle Mallet, she lied to Sukuna so she can begin the Raid of the weak becoming the strongest, and then the events occurred

Kanako has always been one of my favorites! I like how you captured her essence as someone well meaning but kinda scheming. Its easy to call her bad- but none of her goals are bad, self serving at worst, but she'll drag everyone up with her, as is the nature of a god.
Indeed, I’d happily serve her if it meant I was Guinea pig in her next utsuho type scheme.
Actually I can think of a lot of reasons I’d like to serve her.

You really mastered her character and tone here. She sounds hopeful and charismatic, yet also severely off-putting. Kanako is one of the best Touhou villains.
My fascination for Touhou has been growing stronger and stronger in the past few years, and it has been particularly vivid over the last few months, as I'm inexorably diving deeper into a lot of both game and non-game material. A lot of reasons sparked my slow fall for this universe around eight years ago, but as this song is released while my interest feels like an ever-growing peak, I wanted to thank you for the spark you provided - for how steadily your lyrics have fueled my interest and faith in Gensokyo over the years, for how good an entry point they can be. Your grasp of all these characters, and particularly of singing as they would, keeps striking me each time you release a new song, and it's always a deep joy to discover your take on it.

How does your writing process actually go? Seriously, you're really, really good at this and I genuinely want to learn how you think while writing so I could try a hand at it myself.
It's kind of a meme in the Touhou community that the plot of like, four games after Kanako appears happens because of Kanako, but going forward it doesn't seem like she has that much agency involving this. It's more like she knocked over a chain of dominos by giving Yatagarasu's power to Okuu, who inadvertently released Byakuren's followers and subsequently Byakuren, who also inadvertently awakened and angered Miko, all of which seemed more like a series of coincidences with disastrous results than parts of a deliberate plan. Kanako didn't even bother to correct Okuu when she started blowing stuff up (possibly because Okuu didn't actually care what Kanako wants, but that's a theory for another day). Not only that, the heroes all act the same way: Each game they find the culprit for the most immediate incident, beat her up, leave without checking for damages, rinse and repeat. Maybe that's the point, but if you ask me, that's not a very good point. For instance, imagine if these games came out in reverse order, so instead of repeatedly beating people up and leaving until the next incident happens, the heroes would actually try to investigate the source, one link in the chain at the time climaxing with the true mastermind behind everything (that being Kanako). Not only is she a Goddess and would make sense as a greater threat than a saint, a bodhisattva and a Youkai who stole a God's power, this would also be the opportunity for a darker narrative with higher stakes and mysteries to solve both in and out of universe alla Naruto Shippūden. Heck, I can imagine Sanae still being a playable or ally character in TD and UFO except with undisclosed motives and then be revealed as a double agent in MoF and reluctantly fight the other heroes while making it clear that she saw their companionship as genuine but nonetheless has to remain loyal to her Goddess. Imagine how much more memorable that narrative would be.

You say you once had the opportunity to visit the Suwa Shrine. Does that mean you had the opportunity to go but didn't or were you able to visit the shrine?
I did go! It was back in 2015, and it was a wonderful experience that felt meaningful in a lot of ways, to truly play a part in the gathering of faith. Blending cultural and pop-cultural significance, many visitors leave prayer plaques with doodles of the Moriya characters on them, so I did that too. I made an offering to the box, and made a wish that has indeed continued to come true... to maintain a good relationship with my then-friend (now-partner) Lori-hime. I still have the omikuji slip that I got there, miraculously drawing the greatest possible fortune. I love to feel like the Moriyas are blessing us. ♥
Oh I am not sure if what I am about to say but I had an interesting thought in my head basically having the scenario of me being a long lost descendent of kanako and working at moriya shrine being a Shinto priest.😅
One question I have for you is are you some sort of musical genius or does it take a lot of work to make these songs and these voices it's just that you're so good at what you do these are the only two ways I can think of you being able to do this.

its specifically the calm parts done in lower tones, like the first 20 seconds. Feels as if Lyrica lowers her voice to the point where it sometimes walk on the edge of going hoarse. On the other hand after listening to it more, this grown on me - it gives Kanako's voice a slightly tired and annoyed/scolding vibes, that are fitting for her character (together with powerful and majestic chorus counterparts).

For example, the very psychology of every "human" (don't start me on that rabbit hole haha 🤣) has been craftily translated linguistically into a beautiful schematic of simple notions of precision. Ultimately the meaning to be conveyed is any and every human "online" are actually made of math, by very nature of binary language (that which is the natural encoding linguistic used for all modern technology). Without even so much as a "BIOS key"sheet (biologistics key??), All technology would just be hunks of useless junk, right? Meaning our technology needs to be forced into a certain "programming" to even operate, right?
And all the social media platforms and videogames and etcetc forever and ever on the internet are created by linguistic encoding of the binary language, which must be used to CREATE the BIOS Key, preassuming that the technology can READ the bios at all, which means it needs a translation sheet. And people's psychology sociology etc have been put onto the internet service, which thusly means that you had to be precisely sequenced as well in such a manner to actually take our "human sciences" just to put a post online...
That means how we behave in life has already been predetermined as far as the internet goes. In this predeterminacy, we lose our freedom as humans. However, we still have the freedom of choice of what we do with our operative psychology. Meaning we can always change in the system beautifully...
Meaning we are real. Humans exist as its own entity. But we're part cyborg due to binary language of the internet, making us science fictitious... So we're not real. How can this be?
