I LOVE this!!! I just redid my dresser and my boyfriends dresser because of your tips and tricks so thank you!!
WOWIE THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. This is exactly the look I had in my head! Also, the fact that you recommended a finish that gives it that perfect "freshly-cut off of a tree in my dreams" look...soo soft. I'm subscribing Big thank you!! â€â€â€
Finally starting a channel of my own. Thanks for all the helpful tips (:
I love this! Switching over to an oak and white furniture theme and thought Iâd have to buy all new pieces. Going to experiment on a small table first. Fingers crossed it works and I can save money!
It turned out so pretty. I love the bleached wood lookđ
Me too!! I love it!! So gorgeous, fresh and has a great coastal vibe. I would love to try this technique. The brushes look awesome as well!!đđđđđđœđđŸđđœđđŸ
Always good job Christina đč
This is a very cool look that I might try on an oak piece. Thanks!
Love this! So beautiful. Do you have a video where you get the bleached wood look without the sanding and just using paint?
Love that! Thanks for the directional video. Very Helpful!
LOVE, love, love the Zibra brushes!
Me, too!
Itâs unreal how the color completely changes the entire feel of the piece!!!! đ€Ż
it turned out beautifully !
I am definitely going to try this!! â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
Looks really good
Absolutely loved this!
Gorgeous! This is on my list!
I loveeee this look! đ
Looks amazing as always Christina Muscari!! Really like the light Boho-Coastal feel. Hard to believe it started out that super dark espresso finish.
Thank you so much!!
It turned out amazing! It looks like a brand new piece.
Thank you! đ
Amazing!! Ive seen so many furniture tutorials lately highlighting silk for interiors of pieces! That is such a great reason and way to use it!! How would it do on outdoor furniture, do you know?
How do you think it would work on a piece I didnât sand the original finish off? If I just pained and sealed the base color in a flat. Maybe in a burlap like color. (Or even used silk!!) Then did this wash technique over the top. I have a solid wood drop leaf end table, loads of spindles and details, with a bright red spray paint finish. If I TSPâd it and scuffed it up, couple coats of BOSS and then the paints I described. I just love that bleached effect. Or even a driftwood effect. I just can not take off that red easily.... thoughts?
I'm looking at refinishing my piano. I think I am going to try this technique.
Looks brand new. Nice work.
This is amazing! I have a home with oak cabinets that have an orange-yellow hue stain.... it screams basketball court flooring to me! I want to lighten them all with a sander... perhaps even do this method! Thank you for sharing your hard work!
I really want to try this technique on a piece and wasnât looking forward to using bleach, so this was a great video/inspiration. đâ€ïž
i will be trying this on one of my videos thank you.
I love that you did this because laundry bleach can be superrrrr hard on wood, I like the two part kit for actual bleaching or now this technique because you are UGHMAZINGGGG
Thanks, friend! I prefer those two part kits, too!
I can't even believe this finished piece!!! Extraordinary! Beautiful! Now, send it to me... lol!!
Love this!!
Unrelated question to this awesome video here but I'm painting an old coffee table that was quite a dark brown with Boss. I'm almost out of boss and it clearly needs another coat...Would it be OK to mix some of my dixie belle cotton paint into the primer? Or would that not work?
Thank you for the surf prep info!!
You bet!
This is amazing!! Do you think this technique would work on maple cabinets?!
Was planning to bleach but Iâll be doing this instead TODAY! Iâll be âbleachingâ a desktop and its drawers. Itâs a kidâs desk, so I love the alternative to using harsh chemicals. đ gonna have to check out these brushes, btw!
Reporting back & GIRRRRRRLLLL!!!! This is flipping brilliant. DBâs Sandbar was perfection. Thank you đđœ
Very cool!!! Thatâs pretty amazing....it def looks bleached.....turned out great! Quick ? What color did you use when you did your RH dupe on I think your bedroom furniture? I remember you used a white color wash over it ....just wondering......thank you for sharing đkim
Itâs beautiful!
Thanks!
Beautiful
I *need* to get me some zebra brushes, they make the painting process look so easy and smooth ! This came out so cute! I just did something similar with a small dresser, soooo much sanding , but definitely worth it for that bleached wood look!

Gorgeous!!
Thank you!!
I'm looking to do a few projects similar to this. What brand/type of sander do you recommend?
Nice!
That is a really awesome look.
Thanks, Dar!
love this video
The piece looks amazing! Wondering if you have used Silk with you Wagner Flexio 3000 yet and if so, how it went as I am considering using Silk on a project I am doing and wonder if it will spray well.
I have! czcams.com/video/1Azmr_MIwhY/video.html
This looks great! Iâm in the process of copying your boho dresser using the zissner bleach. Itâs coming along nicely.
Iâd love to see it when you are done!
@@ChristinaMuscari I would love to share but where? This is my first project and I really appreciate your in-depth videos. You have inspired me to start a new hobby!
@@andyjulia you can email me at christina@prettydistressed.com
You use so many brushes, can you do a video about how you clean and maintain them. Mine never come completely clean, there is always still some dried paint at the very top of the bristles by the handle.
I wonder what would it look like if you had painted the handle the same colour of the interior of the drawer ?
Love it đ
Thank you! đ
Awesome
Beautiful! Only one coat of paint on table?
I think my particulate and vapor cartridges on my 3M respirator need to be replaced. How often do you replace yours? It seems a shame that the 60926 needs to be replaced every three months (according to what I've read online). I see that you're using the particulate filters, 3M 2091, on your respirator for this project. Do you switch out filters on the same mask? I love your vlog. I've learned a lot from you. Thank you!!!
Wow, awesome job and a must try going forward. Thanks for the demo. What items and what website can I purchase the items you used? Can you pls. Provide a link?
If you go to the top where the title of the video is, click on the title and the drop down box gives that info
Hi Christina. I have seen you sand off many pieces to strip the wood. Is there a reason you don't use stripper instead?
I use my mouse sander with a shop vac
A little tape and voilé
Looks beautiful! Please tell us more about using a sanding screen. I have never heard of that but sounds interesting. Does it save on using a bunch of sand paper?
I agree I always use sand paper whatâs the sanding screen do thatâs different ?
You can wash a sanding screen and reuse it
How long did it take you to sand this piece down?
Would this technique work on Cherry wood? I've heard Cherry wood darkens over time.
That's my side table in my bedroom, so I can verify it IS from Cost Plus World Market. Bought mine in 2009. Mine's still in great shape, but this is great to see what it could become in the future.
Hello. Please help. I'm trying to stain mahogany wood to a warm walnut brown. Now, because mahogany is red I'm afraid I will never achieve this look. I keep reading that the only way that mahogany will take a brown stain is to bleach the wood. I don't want to do that. My question is, can I do the process on the video and then apply the warm walnut stain that I want? Should I use a green undertone stain to cancel out the red? Thanks!
How long did it take you to sand the entire piece ?
The piece looks great and you are a true professional. I would love it if your music was more relaxing. I look at these videos before bedtime and normally they are a wonderful relaxing experience.
Which colour would you suggest to get more of a natural wood/ oak colour?
Burlap by Dixie Belle is a good one.
Beautiful!! Where is the other video where you used Hampton Olive?
czcams.com/video/5KbyWUF1wQw/video.html
@@ChristinaMuscari Thank you! I love that color.
I want that sander but soo costly. Ive looked everywhere to find a cheaper price with no such luckđ
I used a $60 one from the hardware store for years. The Surf Prep is an investment but so worth it for full or part time refinishers.

Iâm in Melbourne Australia itâs 1.13 am Iâll watch tomorrow... since we are in our fourth lockdown đđđ
Melbourne too, canât sleep when in lockdown so going to watch now. Cold old night.
Are you in lockdown from covid
If the Silk paint is 'all-in-one' then why did you use a topcoat?
I only used a top coat on the portion I used the chalk mineral paint. I didn't topcoat the Silk.
The USA is the best place to be for buying these products, in New Zealand, just one brush will cost you minimum amount of $25 !! So you Americans make the most of your easily obtained products
People-you can do this with any Brush and any paint!
Itâs similar to white wash technique.
Yes it is!
5:13
what masks do you use?
I love your work but this one not so much. The table looked painted not bleached. I hate cleaning brushes and you used like 6 or 7 brushes no wonder you got behind cleaning all through brushes. My father was a professional painter he used disposable brushes he claimed that some of the cheap brushes worked just as good as expensive ones. I know you used some very special type brushes they looked nice did good job but they donât clean themselves.
Ugh!!! I hate when people call it DARK furniture makeover...err no its light oak, a no-brainer after a light white wash! I've been looking all over for a mahogany or sapeli wood to light oak or pine finish, no luck! How to give dark woods a natural light wood finish??
Err..So you Basically just painted it light...
Do not care for zibra brushes! Not smooth and soft like other brushes in my opinion. But your work and videos are excellent!!
