In this video you can see the removal of the V157 motor to install the P2015 repair bracket for VW Common Rail TDI engines. This procedure applies to all 2008 and later 2.0 liter TDI engines with the aluminum intake manifold. Removing the V157 actuator motor is the only recommended way to get this job done correctly the first time. If you do happen to lose the spring, check out this video: • Is the V157 motor retu...

Thank you good people from internet. Assembly worked even without dissasembling of the whole unit. Was enough to just loosen the cable plug and the bottom screw and mount the repair kit. Started new 3x and the error was gone. Car works nice again.

I just installed the new style bracket. It probably took me 35 minutes, including watching this 8 minute video. It's a pretty easy install. My first start of the car i saw the CEL light blink and come back on. The second start did the same thing with the CEL light coming back on. The 3rd start, the CEL went out and has been out ever since. Result!! Turned an $800 job into a $70 job and a little bit of my time. I'll take it.

Thanks Jim! I ordered the part, it came in two days and I installed it on my daughters car and after driving the car two or three times, the check engine light went off. The screws are easy to take off with a short screwdriver and a T30.

For starters I am not a mechanic in any way.
The ACTUAL mechanics quoted me upwards of $800 to replace the intake manifold to fix the P2015 error. Thankfully I'm a serial researcher and came across the video from Humble Mechanic that told me about this fix.
Long story short, the only extra thing I had to do was remove the air conduit tube (I think that's what it is?).
It took about an hour, $75 (I needed to buy torx screwdriver) and now everything is working great. Couldn't be happier!

Had P2015 code on my 2010 Sportwagen. Dealer estimate: $1200. I added the repair bracket and the code is gone. The work was pretty straight-forward and despite my limited car mechanical knowledge finished the job in under an hour. The working space under the hood is tight so it wasn't quite as easy as the video showed due to the air filter hose being near the work area. I wasn't comfortable removing it so I just worked around it. Best $65 I ever spent!

  • @vmbanner
    @vmbanner Před 8 lety +1

After driving my car around for the past couple days, I believe the car is running much better....for sure, my mpg has improved. My actuator was very far out of tolerance. It actually confused me a bit on the install because i had to move the actuator arm so far back to install the bracket. When the actuator is moving that far passed its setpoint, it's actually closing the baffles (starving the engine of air) when the engine is expecting full air. If you have this problem, you probably see your mpg move around a lot as the computer is trying to find a good place to run the engine. Anyway, if you're just a little bit handy, i strongly recommend this repair. Make sure and keep an eye on that little spring. I nearly lost mine when it fell off the actuator on my way to the computer. Good luck!!

Our experience is the p2015 faults do not significantly impact engine performance though some people report slightly reduced fuel economy if the manifold is faulting. The bracket solves that problem along with the check engine light.

Well, all good, although, for some reason the three bolts were very tight and wouldn't budge with a screwdriver and torx bit - sprayed some penetrant on and had to use a 3/8" ratchet to budge them at the start. Had needle nose pliers to remove the (return) spring and just lost the spring when I had to manoeuvre the V157 motor to get it out (spring dropped down on to the plastic engine underbelly cover below). I will recover the spring when I do the next oil change. Otherwise, not difficult.
Was surprised to hear the spring isn't necessary - is that 100% correct?

Please disregard my previous post .
I as most of the people here got the lovely check engine light on , up on a scan I found that the code I`m getting is P2015 . So went and ordered the bracket from dieselgeek , and started installing it with a friend of mine. We followed everything from the video and all the suggestions . We took the spring out with the motor , but when we were reinstalling the motor and hooking up the spring we were having problems with the black arm that is supposed to be attached to the motor itself, and this is then when the disaster struck , we lost the stupid spring , in a panic mode we purchased the entire manifold , as a back up plan. But today we decided to try the local junkyards and found a couple of cars having the springs so we got them installed one of them , and after a several restarts on the engine , the light went out on its own. For my surprise the sound of the engine changed it became much more quieter and the fuel consumption improved with over 2 liters per 100 km . What dieselgeek did with this bracket is absolutely amazing , and genius. I saved over 1000$ by using his bracket.

Thanks for helping us. I have little question if possible. I was getting p2015 and installed bracket. It is 2.0 TDI CR with plastic intake manifold. Mechanic needed to take away manifold to install bracket, he disconnected fuel lines from high pressure fuel pump because they were covering intake manifold. Anyway, long story short, no more p2015 but after this engine started to work louder, after few days i noticed he did not tightened fuel line bolt from high pressure fuel pump to rail and the fuel was leaking under high pressure fuel pump, including revving up on idle to compensate for the pressure i guess. I visited mechanic once again and he fixed this by tightening the screw but engine still works louder along the vibrations on idle, no revving on idle anymore. Is it possible that 'ecu/computer' needs to learn new settings while driving, or there is 'air' in fuel lines? is it possible that he damaged hpfp because he did not tightened fuel line from hpfp to rail? or something else? thanks a lot to anyone having time to help me out

I think you did the same mistake as I did. You either change the whole system (whole intake with flaps and actuator), or you apply this fix. If you only change the actuator, it will never work with the old intake manifold, because they have to be synchronized somehow. It can only be done in factory...

Hello there, I have a 09 jetta Tdi that had the P2015 code. Installed the part but the check engine light is still on. Cleared it with my computer and it comes back on as soon as I turn the car off and back on. When I turn the engine off, I can see the motor move to the forward and backward position so it's not stuck. Also, my car does have the diesel particulate filter light on so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. Any thoughts, thanks!

clever fix DG! Thank you!! I opted for installing without removing the entire motor. Seemed to me easier all around. Tell me though, would it be obvious if the bracket were not snug at the back of the motor arm? In other words, there's little chance of having the bracket too far back or forth, right? The fitment seems to only allow for a singular, correct position. Mine's flush and the bolts are behaving the way you show for re-install. Thank you again. Will spread the word about this part when I have the opportunity.

Yes the bracket can be installed without removing the motor, however it is more difficult to verify that it is fully seated and keyed on to the motor body that way.

Can you advise what to do if the light hasn't come off even with bracket install?

Cheers, I've fitted this to my VW Tiguan 09 as I had the P2015 code. It took me about 15 minutes in total and the code has disappeared. But not long afyer fittibg it I started getting the p2196. Can this fix cause this code to pop up?

dieselgeekdotcom thank you for getting back to me. Im just trying to figure out what could be causing the error to appear, and was just wondering if this could have been a possible cause. Thanks

What if I have already replaced the actuator? Still getting the error, but I've heard that if it is not the original actuator, dieselgeek fix will not work..

@@dieselgeekdotcom Yes, I'm aware of it. I'm still wondering why they are actually selling the actuator only, when Vw says that you must buy the whole 9 yards, otherwise you cannot synchronize them...and also dieselgeek fix will not work, if you have already replaced the old actuator...

Can you install the repair bracket without removing the motor? Seems like you could just take out the bottom screw and add on the bracket. Thoughts?

Yes, you can. If you have enough space and good feeling for positioning brecket there in no problem. I made it by my self today, without removing motor. After 3 or 4th engine start and highway driving y.light disapear :) It works!! Thank you deselgeek

I tried a couple times installing the bracket without removing the motor. After watching the video it was pretty simple to remove the motor and install the bracket. Took all of about 10 minutes. Thanks Dieselgeek!
