    Heather Renée Sweet, known professionally as Dita Von Teese, is an American vedette, model, businesswoman, and burlesque dancer credited with repopularizing the art form in the 21st century. She sits down with host (and self-proclaimed superfan) Eileen to reflect on her start selling lingerie in high school, creating the persona of Dita, her former marriage to Marilyn Manson, her present dating life, and caring for her mental health.

      If what you mean is she still looks young, then yes it’s amazing, but many women in their fifties who can afford to have cosmetic surgery look young. Personally I don’t think you need surgery to look amazing in your fifties, and I don’t think we should sit for a moment and appreciate it if someone looks amazing in their fifties. Or at any age. Very patronising.

    Years ago I had the opportunity to meet Dita briefly at an AIDS charity event in Dallas, TX. She was the headlining entertainer for the event and she had done her famous martini glass show. As one of the bartenders for the benefit I offered her something to drink post performance, as I noticed she was standing completely alone near the bar, not talking to anyone. She was so incredibly polite and soft spoken and I could not get over how gorgeous she was up close. She looked like a living doll. I really had to force myself not to stare. She definitely has an energy that pulls you in.

      Dita is always very poised and self-possessed but this interviewer is way out of her league, it seems. She's either very young or very inexperienced with someone of Dita's caliber but the interruptions are distracting and the lack of nuance in her questions puts the burden entirely on Dita to carry the whole interview. And she did.

    • @carag2567
      @carag2567 Před rokem +20

      That being said, I don't think I would have done a better job interviewing her myself and I don't mean to criticize Eileen. Dita is one of those people who are larger than life, and almost seem like a character they are playing but they are hiding the real person from the rest of the world. I'd imagine it would be quite difficult to interview someone like her authentically while not coming across as nosy or perverse. So in this regard, I think Eileen did an excellent job of interviewing Dita. It had to be a difficult rope to walk.

Striptease isn't on the same level as pornography. If you've ever seen her home it's a reflection of what inspired her creativity. She could easily be a designer and decorator. asking extremely famous (legends) people to introduce themselves is a NO NO. you should always do it. asking them to list their achievements and accomplishments is very awkward and off-putting. it's better if you, as the interviewer who invited her, sings her praises.

    I randomly came across this thanks to CZcams recommendations, and it was a lovely dialogue- I knew about Dita von Teese, but I don’t think I ever watched a lengthy interview of her, she sounds like a levelheaded and lovely person, and it was a pleasure to listen to her stories and views ❤

    I’m not going to tell any of the stories because I really like and enjoy Dita, and been very impressed with her as a human being but I’ve been around her in her private life and home, and she was always a lovely person to be around and was the most amazing hostess I’ve ever known. No matter when or where it was she always seemed to be the same person and was wonderful and fabulous and seemed to do it so easily. She’s still one of my favorite people from that decade of my life. She deserves everything she’s created for herself.

    The fact that she equates someone being loyal to her and not cheating to a ‘fairy tail’ and ‘setting yourself up for failure’ expecting your partner to not cheat is pretty sad

    • @sjoerdeltink
      @sjoerdeltink Před rokem +4

      I respect your opinion foremost, but I personally disagree. I think that it’s important to have a mutual understanding in a relationship that the other may not always be able to fulfill the others desires. You can try to deal with that, but it can also be very rewarding and fulfilling to have consentful exceptions and make rules about them. I myself feel that the love for my partner is even stronger, knowing that that person is happy and loved and being able to trust that they love me, regardless of their sexual desires (for example kissing/having sex with someone else). Being intimate with someone else, doesn’t have to mean that your relationship becomes less intimate or honest.
      I don’t think she equates not cheating to being a fairy tale, but I do think she’s being realistic about the emotional complications that can come with a monogamous relationship and that she’s learned that those relationships aren’t her cup of tea.
