With several onboard cams, I record everything important to show you High-Speed-Runs, Acceleration tests ( 0-100 kph / 0-200 kph / 100-200 kph / 200-300 kph ) and test drives on German Autobahn or Road. Please note, Germany is the country of "no speed limit" highways. So in some places, it's allowed to drive very fast. But please don't try this if you are not an experienced driver !! Loved my XV diesel. Very comfortable, nippy and awesome in the mountains, great fuel economy, a beast in the snow and awesome off the beaten track. Also got to test the 5 star rating in a head-on crash when a French driver decided he liked the oncoming traffic lane better.... I walked away without a scratch. LOVE Subaru!! Subaru doesn’t make good Diesels, hence why you don’t see many of them or hear anyone recommend them. If you want a reliable, affordable off-road Diesel, go get an old Isuzu Turbo Diesel with mechanical fuel injection and a manual transmission. Toyota Diesels aren’t too bad, but there aren’t too many of them around in North America anymore. Nissan Diesels were okay, at least until they started using electronic fuel injection and Renault bought the company.

      Mostly because early ones in 4th Gen late model Legacy had catastrophic manufacturing defects and it tarnishe the reputation of Subaru somemore, even tho they improved it greatly(without giving new designation to the engine stupidly enough) in 2011 onwards and even more so after 2015. You can differentiate the revisions by lower compression ratio. flat out 16:1 in 2011+ models and 15,3:1 in post 2014/15 ones these are all good and reliable. Only ones to be scared of are very early 2007-9 motors in Imprezas an Legacies, they still got tweaked so its not as catastrophic as launch year diesels, but actual revision that made them fully reliable came later.

      @@ondramalanik8463 Why the hell are you going at me? I am european. Also emissions fucked over Subaru to a point they dont even sell anything remotely sporty , diesel is also gone.
      Their line up reverted back to FB20B and FB25B both only with CVTs because this and port fuel injection helps it barely clear the newer Euro6 subdirectives. They will probably pull out entirely once Euro7 hits unless they have EVs by that time on sale here.
      Subaru's last efforts to do something nice in Europe was the diesel and 3.0L Spec B Legacy in mid-late 2000s after that maybe Levorg and Forester XT could count, but ofcourse without a stickshift for whatever reason.
      Later diesel revisions until 2017. Meanwhile WRX STi was removed from offer in late 2016 same with BRZ.

      @@Kacpa2 You know that they still Sell the new BRZ right?
      The problem with Subaru of Europe is not with Subaru, but with Emil Frey, their major importer.
      They simply do not want to import the other Models.
      In Switzerland you were able to get all kinds of Subarus, the turbos, the 6 Cylinders etc.
      You were able to get the 3.6 with the help of Subaru Romania, but nobody wanted them, so they stopped producing.
      The new Levorg and Levorg STI are able to pass emissions.
      Even the WRX is. I have a 2018 Forester XT and I have the exact same engine as the WRX.
      I meet the Euro 6 criteria and its direct injection.
      What is holding them back now, are the EU Regulations forcing fines onto a carmaker for every ICE Car that is sold without an Electric car being sold too.
      After introducing the Soltera, the New BRZ could be imported again.
      But it’s a very sad Story realy

      @@Mongolopolis8 I remember H6 Legacy(manual and wagon too), its one of cars i am curious to try for my next car, but as things stand they dont offer anything fun new in Europe anymore.
      Toyota does sell their GR86, but subaru only sells Forester, Outback and XV(Crosstreck) all with CVTs only. and it's been that way for years now.
      STi of VA generation(2014-2021) was only sold in 2015 and 2016, after which they stopped offering it, same with BRZ.
      2017 was last year they offered any form of manual transmission once diesel Outback lost that option that year, and XV went to 2nd generation that didnt have the 6speed that 1st gen had in europe previously and 2nd gen had in US.
      Levorg was never sold with a manual either.
      Its a barren wasteland when it comes to new subarus. Used ones are only stuff you can get and its in short supply, and usually costly. Plus basic stuff like XV with manual is nothing to write home about, its very far from sporty. Its less boring than say Nissan Quashqai, but not even remotely as fun as BRZ would be.

But even the Germans stopped selling diesels in the US in the wake of dieselgate, which really seems to have hurt the Germans more than anyone here in the US. It seems that the Fiat Chrysler (now Stellantis) diesels had software that messed up emissions as well, but mainly because some suppliers installed certain software without them knowing, and were able to correct the faults without any substantial reengineering or fuel consumption penalty. But German cars have been hit hard, and German Diesels even worse. We'll see how these automakers hold up in the US market over the next several years, but the past several years have been quite hard enough for them already for various reasons. I think that if they can get good electric cars, they will do well enough. I don't know what will happen to them if they don't.

      On diesel boxer engine the camshaft bearings need to be replaced every 100k km. It is a fault from the manufacturer. If you want a Subaru buy a petrol engine one with low mileage. Any boxer engine after 150k km starts to fall apart.

    • @Kacpa2
      @Kacpa2 Před 2 lety +2

      @@adrianzaharia8885 Not true for later models. Only pre 2011 engines are faulty. Everything after 2011 is fixed, they just didnt change the designation of EE20 engine. Most reliable are 2015+ with lowest compression ratio of 15,3:1.
      And boxers dontfall apart after 150k, that's just a flat out lie and stop spreading bs like this. 2.0 litre and 3.0 petrol motors and newer FA/FB series 2.0 and 2.5 ones are incredibly reliable. What you probably go at are horrible cheap headgaskets used in old 2.5EJ motors in 2000s, just put in one from turbo/WRX version and you never ever have to worry about that again.

    • @Kacpa2
      @Kacpa2 Před 2 lety +3

      OP try getting something after 2011 like XV in the video or later outbacks. They dont have the issues that plagued early diesels in Legacies. If you are really worried about reliability if history of the car is not sure then go for petrol versions, 1.6/2.0/2.5 motors in newer subarus are rock solid, older ones in 2.0 too. Pre 2011 2.5 motors have faulty headgaskets from factory that dont last too long, but it's possible to permanently remedy by using headgasket from Impreza WRX turbo version of the motor. Then it will never have headgasket issue again.
      Headgasket issues never occur on other engines for most part, pretty much the same as other cars of equal age from Toyota or other makes, and just depends on level of care and driving habits of the owners. And any car being abused and not cared for will suffer similar issues.
      Mechanics just repeat the horror stories of those early diesels an it stuck around. Later diesel models when kept well seem to get high milage without any bigger problems when cared for.

    I consider it a crying shame that Subaru discontinued the Boxer Diesel engine. Was it perfect? Define perfect. It's an engine, a machine, complex in its build. It's not like a Peterbilt truck diesel engine.

      There are 2.0L boxer diesel engines from factory. You can choose petrol and diesel. Diesel has more torque but it's a bit "dirtyer" when it comes to maintenance.
