Curious on what Liberian food tastes like? In this video, we cook traditional west African food in Liberia with our very own local chef! Chef Alvina spent the whole evening teaching us how to make Palm Butter Soup and it was absolutely delicious.
Palm Butter Soup is one of the most well known dishes in Liberia, labor intensive, but worth the effort.
We hope you enjoyed watching us learn how to make local food from a local!

Shelley is hands down the cutest little girl IN THE WHOLE WORLD.
She is an angel baby! She insisted we called her Dr Shelley because, you know, she deserves to be called Dr. Shelley!

Thank you 🤗!! Dr Shelley was just the sweetest little angel!! :)
Fresh palm butter 🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷☺️
Yuuummyyy!! Love loved it! Thanks for watching :)
that's so awesome to see them eating off the same plate!! 😄😄😆 my SO showed me that when we first started dating. apparently couples do it is what he told me but looked like here everyone did. I see y'all had to use flashlights in the kitchen.. Question.. how is electricity over there? How is it used in the average house hold? Do they have access to it? or only a few homes? What are the uses for it? Following your Liberia playlist! 😆 also glad to see y'all reached your goal of subscribers by the end of April!! 😄😁🥳
Thanks for watching! This was such a fun one to film! Great questions!!
The electricity depends on where you live and it can fluctuate. Some people have generators to compensate if the power goes out, but this particular night, the power went off much earlier than normal while we were filming, which then meant we resorted to our flashlights and cellphones hehe!! I think electricity varies quite a bit depending on household. I've seen people who have wifi in their home with electricity, and many who do not. We've seen Electricity used for air conditioners, lights, some TVs, and some appliances!
Thank you thank you for your support! Let us know if you have any other questions! We are very happy to give all the information! :)
Can’t wait to see more Liberian vlogs 😊⏳

Such a great country! and the palm butter stew was delicious!! Thanks for watching :)
@@samandnick fun fact, it's my favorite soup lol.. And yes, it's a charming country and I can't wait to go back home.
This was fun to watch but as a grebo gal, onions don’t go inside palm butter. Thts our biggest no no! 😅 Y’all know we invented palm butter so whatever we say is true
Good to know thanks you! ❤️ I just did what I was told 😂
Did i hear Canola oil? Canola oil is DEFINITELY NOT from Palm nut. The Canola plant is an entire different plant species totally different from a palm tree. Also the only place that Canola may grow in Africa is South Africa and Kenya. Otherwise it is not even known in Africa in general and certainly not in West Africa.
That is really good to know, thank you for the information! I thought that when she said that to me but couldn't really doubt her at the time...
