I usually get slightly upset about legacies who say “oh it doesn’t give an edge at all” but your honesty is very appreciated. You definitely didn’t get in only because you were legacy.

one more piece of advice regarding application for other students who are going to apply -> you can also use the additional info section (650 words) to talk more about a particular extracurricular activity if you feel like 150 chars are not doing justice to the work you did. tbh, you can use that section for many purposes, like talking about low grades, unusual situations, etc... However, don't use it for writing a totally new personal essay. That section should be used only to emphasize some other sections or to add some concrete, factual, and to-the-point info.

Currently trying to write my essay and it’s nice to find a video from someone who is in the University I want to go to. I’m first gen, low income so I am going in blind and with no actual help when it comes applying. I’m super nervous but I hope I get in! Ty for the video!

hey Evelyn, thanks a lot for elaborationg on your applicaton. My question as a prospective student is in case of not really having great stats (grdaes and test scores), do you think it is still possible to get into Cornell with more emphasize on essays, letters of recomendations, awards and extracuriculars? I have been wondering the same thing!!😶 I got 1 B+ & might get another for this yr but idk yet!
it’s a little weird, but her school actually calculates the unweighted GPA on a 4.33 scale!
