I guess it's a good thing that the real spies and heroes preserving Indian securtiy remain unsung... Because then it becomes a testament to their undercover prowess, their determination to keep their objectives and methods little-known for as long as possible. If their identities and work were known by all in detail, even years after their retirement/death, it would certainly be a lesson to learn, to anticipate any future designs and nip them in the bud.
But these bravehearts also deserve our gratitude and respect, so I think having a national memorial for all the anonymous intelligence officers would be a better option for acknowledging their service to the nation, without jeopardizing their post-retirement lives and our future operations.

This episode deserves applause. These unsung heroes should be known to the people of India. It takes years of work and that too with life at risk. The strategy of having an NSA post as a different one altogether and making an operationally effective IPS/Military personnel rather than some bureaucrat to head it, is wonderful and utmost needed. This clear difference between now NDA and earlier UPA should be highlighted too.

  • @pharaohakhneton9553

It is the finest ever tribute paid to the true patriots of India, who risked their life with supreme sense of duty and sacrifice to protect the sovereignty of our motherland. In spite of all their dedication, they don't get the kind of attention, recognition and honor they richly deserve may perhaps be because (1) the very nature of their job is discreet and remains hidden, and demands secrecy. 2. Right from the time of Chanakya ( because spies were mentioned in 'Arthashastra' though the spying network might have existed much before him as an important apparatus to serve the King and the state), their job put them behind the veil of dark curtain,so people never knew about their presence or role unlike the military soldiers, who were more openly visible and the spies had no balladeers to sin g the tales of their sacrifice and heroic acts as in the case of military. The popular imagination is fed with stories of great warriors, but when it comes to spies, the historical time canvas is almost blank. 3. Perhaps because they are perceived more as bureaucrats and part of Govt aparatus, so honors and decorations are hard to come by.

@@BruceWayne-qe7bs Nehru according space to Tibetan government in exile was a diplomatic necessity. It brought the plight of the Tibetan to the global light. If anything it helped India to understand what was going around in Tibetan border. China didn't attack India because of Dalai Lama, China was already building the infrastructure in Southern Tibet and Aksai Chin from 1951-52. What made China Indian conflict inevitable was Zhou Enlai's visit and the way we reacted in 1960.
Instead of putting everything squarely as a failure (sweeping generalizations), we should look closely at the events individually and identify the immediate cause. In the case of 1962 humiliation, look around this visit, and the forward policy we adopted without adequate military buildup and deeper intelligence.

Thank You "ThePrint" and very much thanks to" Sir Shekhar Gupta". As my vocabulary is little weak I had a tough time understanding the meaning of words. Through, it gave me the felling of doing something for our country as we a knowledge citizen of India should utilise that knowledge for the betterment of India and our Globe as a whole.
(That's the felling I got & definitely I will utilise my knowledge for the betterment of India and the entire Globe as a whole.)
    Thank You

All who know what is going on this discipline have great respect for Ajit Doval in effectiveness and nationalism. However most experts in the discipline of spying mention that Kao was one of the greatest spy-masters ever. His caliber is recognized internationally. He rapidly made RAW into an organization of global respectability.
