Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department works a single vehicle wreck with serious injuries

- JFRD worked a wreck to a single vehicle that initially came in as a extrication assignment. The patient was not actually trapped, but crews had to methodically work to backboard and transport the patient with serious injuries in one of our four Critical Care rescue units.

What were the injuries? I broke my neck not wearing my seatbelt but my accident was a lot worse than this one. Hopefully it isn't that severe in this case

My sil is an emt fireman, a fire truck always goes to these type calls.
if it is your SIL, then she is a "firefighter" or "firewoman" ...yes, an engine or truck respond to all traffic accidents.

Unfortunately no...once we drop them off at the hospital, the hospital is bound to HIPAA laws just as we are...so unless the patient comes to us, generally we do not even know.

Absolutely. Engines carry fire fighting equipment. Trucks carry rescue equipment.
Well...it originally came in as an extrication...but we send whoever is closest and can get there fastest for the sake of those injured. No sense leaving perfectly qualified people at home because they are in a truck...that is very narrow thinking.
They are ALL medically trained...this person needed help...the Ladder was the first there!
