Honestly I love this focal length for vlogging. Currently I’m using the 10-24 version 2 and I almost always use it at 12-14mm. The 16mm is still too close to my face for my taste and the 10mm is a little bit too wide and has the wobbles.

As someone interested in both video and photos I'm curious as to your perspective on why you chose to go with the X-H2S vs wait for the X-H2. Do you think the X-H2 will be a viable video camera for someone who does "travel" style videos? Or is rocking the X-H2S the move?

Why should I wait for a slow 40mp non-stacked sensor for video? I only see disadvantages for the H2. 40MP file sizes are too big anyway, 26MP are enough. And the rolling shutter performance will be worse… only downsides for a few pixels more.

Would love to see an astrophotography test (especially sharpness away from the center into the corners and chromatic aberrations of the stars). Seems like the perfect option to get for wide angle astro stuff with fuji. I was already thinking about getting a star tracker because the f4 on my 10-24 is just not quite doing it for astro. At the same time I was really keen on that 11-20 from tamron that might be coming. But this one will "only" be f2.8 compared to f1.4 which would be a game changer for astro stuff. Lot's of decisions to make here xD

    • @pascalbasel
      @pascalbasel  Před rokem +1

The XT4 stabilization is not bad. You have to develop a felling for how to move it or add stabilization in post to get rid of the lags. I never found the ibis an issue in the XT4. The af is a big difference, but therefore 4K60 and 10bit with the XT4. It just comes down to the af overall. Everything else is better or good enough on the Fuji.

I'd love to set my settings for video in the Q profiles and whenever I toggle back to photography mode, my video settings get saved and not mess with my photo settings, that would make switching back and forth much easier and make the X-T4 a better hybrid.

@@pascalbasel for photography I found the IBIS to be very helpful especially in low light situations, but for video, particularly for wider lenses, 16mm and wider, the IBIS was the main culprit for wobbly footage, it doesn't bother some, but it sure messes with me 😅 I have both the 16-80mm and the 16-55mm, the ibis on the 16-80mm does a meaningful difference in managing corner wobble even without turning DIS on.
My plan it's to use the 10-24mm as wide as possible/manageable, turn all stabilization on (ois+ibis+dis+boost) 😂 and hopefully come out with an average 20mm FF equivalent of "fully stabilized" footage.
My reason not to go with the Viltrox 13mm is the fact that it limits you over what a zoom lens can do, like you said you can use the camera's crop mode to get a tighter focal length via cropping, but you can also do that with the 10-24mm and "squeeze" a little extra focal juice our of that lens. So that's the plan and by the time the Tamron 11-20mm come out I shall review everything.
Aside from the caring the 10-24mm, 16-55mm/or 16-80, and the 70-300mm (+the 1.4x teleconverter), I've also been loving using the Laowa 9mm f2.8 zero D which sort of could be replaced by the 10-24mm, and also the Laowa 65mm f2.8 macro, man I like these lenses. But less is more and I gotta boil down what I add to my camera bag.
By the way are you still using the same camera bag as of your last video? Camera bags are always a struggle, the bigger they are the more we carry, yet there is never such a thing as too much space 🤣🤣🤣

On the other hand Panasonic has tremendous video features in their cameras which both Sony and Fuji lack of, but dang Panasonic continues to stick to contrast based AF.
One thing is for sure, unless we run a CZcams channel with manufacturers sending us free gear (not loaners) we can't have all systems 😂🤑💸

@@vasiliychernomorov1115 I don’t quite understand your comment. In his prior video he mentioned that he sold his Sony gear (or at least some of it) and in this video he mentioned that he is travelling to various countries and is currently in Germany. So I would assume that he is travelling with a light kit, which means that he would probably only have the Fuji body and one or two lenses. Then while on the trip, he decides to do a review of why he loves this particular lens on Fuji. Are you saying that he shouldn’t have done this review because he didn’t have a Sony lens and body to compare it to?
There is no inconsistency in story telling here. He is just having fun doing what he enjoys doing and we get to benefit from it. He is not obligated to do any of this for us because we are not paying him to do so this.
Whether full frame would be better is subjective. If you love the full frame look enough to choose Sony over Fuji, then that’s you. He loves the look and experience that he is getting from this camera enough to switch from what many would consider to be a high end camera and so he his sharing his experience. He is not aiming to convince others to switch (at least that is not what I have gathered)
It’s not about perfection in storytelling. It’s about sharing one’s experience (for the benefit of oneself and others) and having fun doing so. As a content creator, you cannot please everyone with the videos you create, and aiming to do so will only result in burnout. You can only aim to put out decent content and have fun doing so.

@@ifeanyiisitor7929 you're not using click bait like I switched because of.. And not telling it) lenses are direct 20ff vs 13apsc competitors and he is mentioning that, then compares lens to slow f2. You either tell what you mentioned or not tell at all. No offense, I watched full video looking for an answer and feeling a bit frustrated

@@vasiliychernomorov1115 I totally get your frustration but I think that it is important that we lead with gratitude for the effort put towards creating something beneficial that we aren’t entitled to. Otherwise we end up just contributing to demoralisation and burnout.
I personally don’t think that the title is click baity. It seems quite appropriate as I see the review as being a review of the viltrox lens for vlogging on the fuji system. The mention of the Sony equivalent seemed to me to be just in passing. I didn’t get the impression that he was intentionally trying to deceive or annoy anyone. In fact, I get the impression that he aimed to cover as much bases as he possibly could, given the constraints. The video came across as very informative and high quality. I have been searching for videos that show what it’s like to vlog with the viltrox 13mm on Fuji and how it compares to the Samyang 12mm in this regard, and this is the best video I’ve seen so far on the matter. Not only did he talk about the lens, but he filmed himself doing so with the lens (in a very ‘cinematic’ manner) so that we could see how it performed for vlogging. As such, I got all the information I needed from this one video.
I don’t agree that one must expound fully on every detail mentioned. Those sort of rules only work to take the fun out of the work, and they further promote burnout by promoting perfection as the goal. Again he is not obliged to do any of this. He is free to do and share what he wants. And what’s most important is that he has fun doing it.
As mentioned in my previous comment, it’s impossible for these reviews to satisfy everyone’s needs. As such, it’s better to lead with gratitude and then just ask if he can possible show a comparison between the two lenses and systems. We aren’t entitled to anything

It looks awful for video your corners are like gelo it's got a life if it's own. I really wanted to like this lens for video but just can't. For photography it's superb...

Dirty lens. Get it clean. Too shaky for vlogging. Get a Panasonic GH6 for that, or an S5--better stabilization.
by the way, I'm a big Fujifan, and own the XH2s. I just don't think it's for V-logging.

Better bit more shaky as Panasonic but therefore good af ;-)
I think it's a great vlogging camera. Just being able to choose which settings should stay when switching between custom modes is missing.
