Lloyd Bridges was a class act. When I was a kid we had a cabin in the same place Lloyd did. We would run into him occasionally. He was the most polite, kind, personable and hospitable person one could meet, even to some star stuck knucklehead kids. His kindness meant a lot. He was a True Gentleman.
Fast forward to Jeff winning Best Actor. There is some justice in the universe.

In the Summer of '92 I was walking down the street in Cologne Germany with some classmates, and we saw Lloyd Bridges. We walked up to him to say hello and to thank him for all of the entertainment he had provided us over the years. We were able to get our picture taken with him. He asked me what my favorite movie of his was, and I said "Airplane" He commented that "everybody says that. I've made so many great movies and that's the one everybody loves." I told him that for people my age, it would be their favorite. He was so nice to us, he was a great man. It was also funny that all of the Germans were looking at him wondering who he was...

And it’s one of the best because of seeing Jeff bridges and Tommy Lee Jones together in an action movie. And it came out the same year as speed and true lies which also dealt with terrorism and bombs and explosions. It still is a classic to me and better than Arlington road 5 years later.

But then knowing the pleasure of having his dad "knock it out of the park" as he said, in the audition. The one thing hollywood did was creating typecasting, because it´s not the actor, it never was. Here in Australia it was reported that Lloyd Bridges was an ex navy diver. It would have been great if Jeff played the son in Seinfeld.
All the main actors in Flying High (way better title then Airplane) had appeared in Aircraft disaster movies.
