Hi there. I'm on a Glass Menagerie jag and wandering down the CZcams rabbit hole. I enjoyed your summary and you awakened some deeper symbolism for me. First, the fire escape as the primary entrance and exit from the home, the "escape from reality." What this really brings into focus is Laura's abject terror of answering the door when the Gentleman Caller arrives. That door is the doorway to reality and she absolutely cannot cope with it. The second point I would make about the unicorn, its horn, and Laura's fantasy that it has had an "operation" to make it normal -- this fits terrifyingly closely to the interpretation of Laura as Tennessee's real life sister, Rose (hence Blue Roses for Laura), who had a lobotomy for the very same purpose. Basically, the unicorn was lobotomized. Thanks for doing this.

Very great, helped me understand what the whole symbols in the book are. I do have a question though. Near the end of the book, he said that left his home and a family and that Laura touched his shoulder and her ran away, drinking, talking to nearby strangers. He said he wish that Laura blew her candle out and that she did. What does that mean? Does that mean that she died?

Pretty detailed work, just one minor thing that bothered me was your misuse of the word menagerie. A menagerie is a collection of rare animals--basically a zoo. In the text, it refers to the glass collection as a whole, not the specific pieces.
