Apex Predator My college opened this play tonight and one of my friends is playing Laura. I wanna play Laura someday. She's such a beautiful and delicate character to play, not to mention she gets to look at all of those beautiful glass figurines. Beautiful, but so fragile, just like her.

The 1966 television production of The Glass Menagerie starred Shirley Booth and Hall Holbrook, and is, in my opinion, the best screen adaptation of the play that I have seen. Shirley Booth is far superior to both Katherine Hepburn and Joanne Woodward. The video is available for view here on CZcams, and I encourage everyone to watch it.
Thanks for the recommendation. Shirley Booth was a great actress of course, but I don't see how anyone could top Ms. Woodward. If you can find it, there was a fine recording of the play made in the early '60's with Jessica Tandy in the part and Monty Clift as Tom. He was clearly not well but still did a great job.
I'm pretty sure you guys made this video now because of the broadway revival just ended a week and a half ago, so i'm utterly surprised that you didn't talk about the most popular stage adaptations in here, too.

Well, that's awfully nice of you to say. I'm currently in an Intermediate Acting class and I have been given the absolute honor of playing Laura in a scene from the show. I got the role yesterday and I'm still slightly in shock. Laura's been my dream role ever since I first saw the play. I even started a glass collection of my own and I realized that, back in my senior year of high school, I had a slight crush on a guy named Jim. I'm also incredibly anxious, I have a slight limp, I've become very shy over the years, and I have my own record player.
I'm reading a monologue from this play!! :) After I perform my final performance I'll come back and look at this. I can't watch someone else perform the piece I'm doing or it'll mess with my mind and I don't want to imitate anyone.
I had to do a group project on that book for AP Lit in 12th grade. I'm sure it's well-written, but I had SO MUCH TROUBLE with that book. I couldn't finish it. Also literature like that transfers over into pop culture. The movie Easy A is a perfect example, I think.

I remember when I read the book. I may get hate for this but... I didn't like it... at all. I thought it was too drawn out, confusing and dull.
