You know, your a legend in my house. hahah You are as much as a geek as me. All the products I am looking at purchasing off ebay you already have a review on it. Keep up the work dude :)
That small 12v 10w LED sounds handy, I hope you will keep us informed on that. One question I want to ask is about automotive lighting, I know you have done videos with various links to cars but I was wondering if you could test halogen vs alternatives. I'm interested in changing my headlights to something with less draw if possible but definitely with more light per watt. I did have HIDs at one point but the beam spread was untidy so it would have to be some sort of projector light I would assume. Or perhaps like the LED lens combo you have shown with a cut off. I only ask because I know you would do it properly and would be more concerned than just getting more light.
Those IP cameras are pretty handy. I've got a "Foscam" brand one, and they are decent but a bit buggy and sometimes hard to set up and get all the features working properly. I use mine to record to my dropbox when it detects motion, so that way even if somebody were to steal the camera or even my whole computer, by the time they've done that, the video will have already been uploaded to dropbox. The IR nightvision on them is pretty decent as well. Good for a cheap and makeshift home security system. Just make sure to update the firmware on those things - they are often vulnerable to exploits, and it even made the news when somebody took control of someone's IP cam and screamed at their baby in the middle of the night!
Google Translate may not be perfect, but i guess more understandable than chinese ;) S6006 is a PIR sensor controller with band-pass filter to eliminate PIR noise, active bandgap reference, adjustable switching delay. Supports an additional LDR for day/night-detection.
The wall security light lasted less than 4 hours stripped down and found that the lithium ion battery was not charging replaced the cell and so far it is still working Michael
You shoot your videos with a phone camera? Man, I wouldn't have known if you hadn't said anything. I thought you were using a camcorder. It's excellent quality.
Hi Julian, what's your average postage time from Banggood? I got one package last week and one today but both were ordered on the same day. I'm still expecting one more too, again ordered at the same time! Keep up the vids! Cheers, Andy.
Kind of wondering the same thing. I'm in the US and placed an order a little under 2 weeks ago. I was surprised that I got a tracking number in less than 24 hours. The issue is that it hasn't shown up in the 17track.com website yet. Not even a "we know there is a package we just haven't picked up yet" message. I've ordered a lot from DX so I know the drill of packages not shipping for days or even a few weeks but when I got a tracking number so fast I thought maybe they were different. Not a complaint, more of what to expect. Oh I did post on the forums and Bang good said it may take 7-10 (assuming working days) for it to appear in tracking.
Tom Jacobs but when/ if you got a tracking number when could you see the package in the shipper's system? I have a tracking number but no tracking and this Friday it will be 3 weeks. I got an reply from Bang good just have to figure out what they are saying.
Cliff Hartle i can't track where it is, it just says its shipped. And a response email just told me it was shipped 3 weeks after payment ... I just have to wait minimum of 40 days.
Tom Jacobs Well after 3 weeks of no tracking information I had them refund the order. They say it must be lost in shipment but I'm not sure if it ever left Banggood or even if there ever was a package. Usually when a tracking number is created the shipper knows about it. The tracking number never showed up anywhere. Also its an odd format. Its supposed to be Air Parcel but 17track.com thought it was a EMS package. I'd like to think that this was just a mix up and order again. The only thing that reinforces this is that I did get a prompt refund.
brian whittle Have you measured it? At budgetlightforums or candlepowerforum (I can't recall which one) a member measured the lumens of these cheap chinese 10w leds and the lumen output was close to 500. The advertised lumens (~900) are always fake.
runner180fxr Well fake and fake.. They often quote the LED maximum brightness, but the led driver is often set to a lower current to avoid overheating. It's like my 18 led e27 is quoted at 54 watts, ie. 3watts x 18 leds which is the maximum power output of the individual leds, but in actuality it only consumes around 25 watts off mains, which is ok for the price. Similarly the overstated lumens are probably for maximum diode brightness.
Wibin So is that more like 3 Olight S15 Batons (280 lumens I think) strapped together or a little less than one Fenix E41 at just over 1000 lumens? Would the Chinese light made from the LEDs have long battery life?
Nice post. I have already ordered the solar pir light ;). Julian Ilett: What is the easiest way to contact you with a question :) ? I have tried to write you a private message on CZcams but I do not know if it got through.
Oldrich Svec Sorry, I'm way behind on answering private messages and emails. One-to-one communications don't benefit other people so I give them a lower priority. Probably the best way is to put the question in the comments of a recently uploaded video. I tend to watch activity on newer videos more than the older ones.
Scanning the QR code for the play store AP camera app took me right to it no problem.
LOOOL That Nokia 3310! Oh how I love that indestructible wonder :D

Michael
how is for the solar panel, 6v x .2 a = .49 w at 3:58, and how does a 6v solar panel charge a 3x3.7v battery?
The battery looks like a cell phone lipo package: tale off the plue shrink tap and see if it's a sinhle piece or 3 Ni-MH put together.
If you don't mind me asking what is the wearable and what does it do
How long is Bangood shipping to the UK... usually?!
I think it is a prismatic LiIon cell.
For some reason WOT does not trust Banggood. Have you had any issues with them?
You shoot your videos with a phone camera? Man, I wouldn't have known if you hadn't said anything. I thought you were using a camcorder. It's excellent quality.
So Julian are you NOT giving ebay numbers now or links to where we can buy ???

Why cheapest possible way?

How many lumens would the 10 watt LEDs shine? More than perhaps a Nitecore EA4 or SR03 and maybe 10 Olight S15s trapped together?
about 800 but it's mostly directional so will seem spot light bright in the direction it points
brian whittle Thats pretty impressive for the price! Wonder who makes the LEDs the die is much larger than the Cree one!
