Bins are bulky if you don't have a big car or a truck. I use very sturdy canvas tote bags so they fit so easily in my car. Basically the same storage idea. They work really great. Just remember to put them back in the car at night in case it might rain, or the critters mess with them. Critters get into bins too I guess. Happy camping.
A good bin will protect your stuff from rain. I leave mine out all the time. Some bins keep critters out better than others.
I would include chairs and small camping table, which is great for food prep and stove.
Yeah, I was thinking a camp chair would round it out for me.
Make spread sheet inventory tape on inside of lid sealed plastic. Make second copy for shopping
I found that Rubbermaid Roughneck bins were the best overall for long term storage. They came in 10 and 18 gallon sizes and two colors. When empty they nest. When stacked, the base of an upper one nests into a recess of the lower one. The plastic doesn't get brittle in the winter. The lids have no moving catches to break, snap in place.
Same exact way I car camp. Bins are awesome. If I go rock climbing I just grab the rock climbing bin. If I'm going Scuba Diving I grab the Scuba bin. Bins rule! :)
This man is NOT bear safe!!!!!!!!!!
You sound awesome lol
I swear by bins as well. That's how I was able to decide on Friday to go camping when my 3 kids got home from school. Grab the buckets, load the car, stop at the market on the way out of town. Done. Not to mention, when you get home, you don't have to load stuff back into your kitchen. You have designated camping stuff, including some food.
Thank you Alex Honnold!
I clicked on this because I thought it was Honnold haha
It does look like a nice tent. Thank you for sharing your camping setup and the tent. You have given me some ideas.
Its a huge pain in the a88, but once ur set up, its a blessing (sooo enjoyable, sooooooo much fun!!!)
Organization is essential. Great video.
Love your container system. Thanks a lot.
Thanks. I love that tent. It looks easy to put up.
I live in my car thanks for the video love it !!!
I wish this guy had his own channel. I would definitely watch.
Good system...my wife and I have bins in our Ford E350 van...good for van camping!
I also use bins. Using them has eliminated so much frustration when it comes to organizing and storing my gear, supplies, and food. I love the tent! A little elbow room in a tent makes everything easier. Nice video. Thank you.
I live in my car I like the bin solution for under bed storage keeps it organised 👍.. also have a big pop up tent when I’m staying put 😁
This video is very helpful thank you for sharing. I love to have a camping like
That tent is quite nice. I like it. Great video.
Thank you for this video, its a good start up.
Love it thank you !
I’m new to your channel! Thank you for showing all your neat and essential things for camping.
Always,
MommaFaye
Love the organization!
Thumbs up O. Love the bin idea. I'm on the road to making these ideas a reality with the idea of going car camping ... within the year.
Grace, did you go!?
Well ... I have recently bought myself a tent, and plan to go camping mid September, with friends. This is my first camping trip, and Im' really looking forward to it. Just need to practice getting the "Instant Up" tent up. Thanks for asking.
Plus folding chairs and camp table.
I had much the same stuff organized the same except I used the flip-top bins because their stack securely and I don't have the lid to worry about. One negative is they will let water in so I kept them in the car or tent. also had a Coleman dual fuel stove. It all got stolen from my site near Lake Shasta back when fires were breaking out there a couple of years back.
Add one folding table cooking and prepping ;)
Great video, thanks!
Bins are good at home keeping things ready, however on a trip they take up the same amount of space whether full, half full or nearly empty. (Note bins in video, none are full) Also they are set shape/size so may be difficult to fit in your vehicle, especially cars. Why put sleeping bag, tent, etc in a bin. I use river dry bags and those bags they sell a stores so you do t use the plastic bags, by end of trip some are empty a folded away. If you have a big tent, buy those moving blankets (about $3 at Harbour freight, get free light too). The blankets are used to pad the floor. Less holes in gear, gets rid of noise inflat. Mattress makes when you turn over. And yes, table and large water container, or make DIY shower.
I don't keep my sleeping bag, tent, lantern, chair/table or stove in bins, but the rest goes into bins. Kitchen tools & dry food in one. Camp stuff (pegs, ropes, etc.) in another. Cooler for cold food. I cart it around in my van; smaller vehicles will be different. Between trips, everything's stacked in the shed ready to go.
If ya want to live out of a car... ask a bum.
@Maroxa’s Choices Not all cars move Ms. Anonymous.
@Maroxa’s Choices That happens a lot and it''s not always a good thing.
@Maroxa’s Choices Yup, the unlucky are everywhere.
It was nice seeing a basic car camping video that wasn't about glamping
You have reaffirmed my want to get a bigger tent than I need once I’m able to go camping just to make sure I have a big enough covered space outside my car that I can stay in.
Big tens for car camping are great. Enjoy the space! Great video. I have subscribed! :)
Nice tent I really like it!
Great ideas... Thank you..
Good info. Thx
Thank you!!!
Great idea!👍🏻
Nice tent great info.
Very nice video, thanks for sharing
Great information. Thanks for summarizing your bin system. We're always trying to get more organized and recently added another bin. I'm kind of curious if you use this gear just for Summer camping or if you add anything else for Spring and Fall camping. Nice production quality, btw. :)
I loved how organized you are...I will definitely buy those bins.
I'm wondering, if you read an Atomic Habits by James cleare? ;D
*Great Video! Where’s your First Aid Kit?*
As somebody with a small car, that's way too many bins to bring along. I have a cooler and one bin. Everything else like sleeping bag and the tent stays out. You can stuff them in smaller places that way. Want a towel to swim or shower with, a body size pack towel or the REI one. I don't even bring a lantern anymore, just a headlamp. Have a giant car? You can bring tons of stuff. Have a small car? You figure out what you absolutely need.
Me gusta su forma de pensar.
Buen video.
Very good organization.
Yeah those bins are big! I think being able to see your stuff through the sides is a plus, but size is prohibitive. Dry or river bags also come in clear fabric- the small ones do, anyway. I like the way this guy categorized his load of gear.
Nonsense. Plastic storage bins come in all different sizes. You can get the size that works best for you. For people like the guy in the video and myself, we have plenty of room for storage at home, and in our trucks. If you have limited space, or ar sadly the type that have only a small car, then you're much more limited. Common sense says you tailor the system that works for you.
@@r.w.7232Needlessly rude and arrogant tone. Your message content gets lost in your unfortunate delivery. suggest you either stay polite or just stay out, nobody needs to hear from a jerk.
Thanks
I aways thing truck are for work but your set is real cool I would get a double cab put all the bins in the back seat area put in a air bed in the back 2 could sleep in there I would add chairs & the beer but love the bin idea
Sleeping in your truck sucks. Get a tent and a good cot system.
a large tent that one person can put up alone. cool.
The bins are great. I use them too. The tent however is a pain in the rear. Get yourself an 'Instant Cabin Tent.' Mine is bigger than his and erects in less than a minute. It takes longer to stake it down than to set up. Coleman makes good ones but don't be afraid of the Walmart tents. They have an Ozark Trail Instant Tent that's 14'X10" for less than $180. It sets up in a minute.
Bill Vegas ... and everyone seemed to have them on sale for Black Friday weekend.
Amazing review ❤️ I bought the The Original Pop-Tent after watching your video from Terra-Explore,com and it’s been working amazing thank u again for reviewing
(replace comma with a dot can’t post link on CZcams) thank me later ❤️
I couldn't find this site. Site without hyphen seems to be for sale. Closest thing was Terra Nova in U.K. Any suggestions? I love the tent on this video.
I just received the same tent, for free 😊
By “car camping” I wasn’t sure if you didn’t mean sleeping in the car itself. BTW, I notice that is a truck.
Nice campsite location.
I am debating whether to sleep in a truck-bed tent or a freestanding tent.
I might try the pvc bin system. Just getting started but I have “camped” in the Army extensively.
What is the exact name of the tent? It looks great.
Im getting a bin for my first camping
Jeremy from Jersey just subscribed
I solo camp in the REI 6man Base Camp. People are stupid when getting a 2 man tent for two people when car camping. I call my tent the Tent Mahal
I completely agree. When I car camp solo, I use a 10 by 10 Dome Tent. That gives me plenty of room for an air mattress, and room to move around. If you're stuck inside your tent riding out a storm, it's sure nice to be able to sit up in a chair and be able to move around a bit.
The Taj Mahal is actually a mausoleum and not a palace. So I hope for your sake your tent isnt a Tent Mahal 😧
Me too! When I solo car camp I also use a 6 person tent. When I have to ability to be comfortable, why would I not do so? It makes the trip just that much more enjoyable.
Thanks for the video. I'm getting started with car camping like this. What size are your bins?
RoughNeck 201... check out my camping setup video.
One small thing, would it hurt to consider a small stand like maybe a wooden tv tray to set your stove on so you'd have access to your cooler while cooking....just a suggestion
How do you secure your shell for safety from the inside?
What size are the bins? What brand?
What about tarp for under tent?
A folding table is a godsend for cooking. Don't forget adult beverages
I found out that my Honda CR-V under the trunk is a folding table lol. Nice to have. Happy camping God bless.
I got that tent. It's awesome.
I have it too...is awesome
Ditto on the question, what stove is that in the video?
Buy a Canyon Cooler. They are cheaper than Yetis and have some cool accessories.
what tent is that in this episode?
Kingdom 6 is $499. I bought a Kingdom 4 for $210 at the garage sale.
What size bins?
Great video! :-) I am exclusively a car camper (though also exclusively dispersed; I like the adventure!); I find a spot, stop, stake & stay. I, like you, am precious about my tentspace; I have my Summer tent, an 8 man cabin style, my foulweather tent, a 6 man dome, & last, my holy-crud-it's-cold tent, a 3 man dome. I only use that one when it's mid-Winter, & I'd be miserable in anything larger (read: less economical for body-heat).
Otherwise, I have to have at least 9msq to myself, or I get physically claustrophobic + socially overextended - + thus crabby + unpleasant - within like 2 days, which isn't great because I never go on trips of less than 5 days (if you count the day of arrival, & the morning of pack-up). I'm married, but my husband doesn't camp, so getting that space to myself is rarely an issue though I have had to explain to a friend once or twice, when they asked why we can't just take 1 tent, & save the extra cargo space.
I'm an unrepentant glamper; elevated bed w. memory foam topper, inflatable sofa, zero gravity recliner as fireside chair, chemical toilet...the works. Though I stop short of the AC unit, the little heater + the TV, as I have seen some family campers bring; if it gets too hot in my tent, I leave it, if it gets too cold in my tent, I line the walls with foil blankets, & if I get bored, I go for a walk. I camp to be in nature - comfortably so, but still in nature - & maybe it makes me a fuddy-duddy, but I feel like there's a big difference between bringing your phone, or even your tablet, & bringing your TV. So, that's my line, but everyone has their own.
Thankfully, I'm a very skilled cook, + since I plan the menu & do all the cooking for the entirety of each trip, none of my friends ever complain about the extra weight of all my 3-star, humble homebrew glamping gear in the trailer. ;-)
P.S. I am now enjoying exploring your site! So much great reading material. :-D
What size are those totes
What kind of stove is that?
A FIRE EXTINGUISHER! Campers are starting fires all over the west. Put your fires out. Take a fire extinguisher.
U have to be train to use that or be a fire fighter or else it would be way too heavy
@@yamiyo_sag4637 lmfao, you know that you can get small ones ?
@@lachlanoneil8938 wait there's small ones
@@yamiyo_sag4637 yeah like the ones you can fit in your car, I have 2 one is under the seat lol.
@@lachlanoneil8938 I never knew about those
A tent, blankets, cooler, etc. I never would have guessed to bring all of that.
😂😂
-Alex Honald's humble cousin. 😎😎😎🤨👍👍

By car camping I thought you were sleeping in the back. I ditched my tent last year and now sleep in my 4Runner. I make this possible by using the same toe system. I run a tarp off the side of the truck and use custom screens for the windows. It's comfortable, quick, and organized. Also one thing I'd say you missed which is essential to camping is a good table. I bring a 6' folding table. You can check out more of my set up and ask me questions on my instagram @48thStateOverland
Exactly. Car camping to me is sleeping in your car.
Lesson learned! always bring plastic bins on camping :)
I have two kids and two dogs that stay in the tent at night. My list is just a little bigger. Haha
Snow Peak IGT
Hi Lena... It's Jeeim ;)
What happened to camping 🏕 all I needed was a tent a sleeping bag and a sandwich 🥪
I keep my stuff in totes too. The last time I went car camping with the family I had so much crap I looked at my Tacoma and the bed was literally packed full. I was looking thinking wtf do I have so much shit? I had two totes which is my cooking stuff in one and keeping bags and stuff in the other, cooler, lantern, propane tanks, stove, giant mega tent cause the wife needs a massive tent the size of a mansion just to stand up in,now she has to have a air mattress, three bikes, and firewood. It’s jus overwhelming how much crap I had to pack and do all the work myself. It makes me not even want to go camping their is so much to pack and unload.i feel like I’m moving and not camping.
whatfreedom7 yeah that sucks. It's more like work than fun and relaxing.
Kick you're wife to the curb and find a real woman that likes adventure! It's not hard work!!!! That's a fact! Camping is easy and cheap, . Minimal work required after obtaining standard gear
Beats hotel packing daily and restraunt food. Had a burger fries and drink $19 the other day.
You crack me up. My wife is the same but hopefully with some training/re-education she might come to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
XD
If you have a van or suv then just sleep in it instead of outside in a tent. Sleeping inside your vehicle is way more secure than sleeping outside in a tent.
Secure and doesn't leak! Don't forget screens for the windows.
Storage bins is space waisters
Is the tent bear-and-mountain-lion-proof? If not, how do you protect yourself against that risk?
Bring bear spray and don't put anything scented in/near your tent.
Don't camp where there are large predators would be my tip! Or get a hard bodied camper of some description!
Do you ever sleep in your car and how is that done?
close your eyes
I’m guessing I need a 4x4
First aid kit?
Keep one n your car at all times anyway.
No small table and chair?
I guess if the bins are sturdy enough you could use them to sit on.
Nice and simple... I don't recommend cooking on your YETI ice chest, I had a similar type of stove that I put on a plastic table... it melted it... Check out my camping setup video. Thanks for sharing.
This is what I suggest guys
So leave your house without packing any thing well if u have stuff that u sure u need then drive out of town but stop by a mall and buy the things u need
You say that in jest, but some people are so terribly unorganized that they end up doing just that each time they go camping.
Essential gear for car camping..... #1 get a car
What is this "outside" place everyone keeps talking about?
I don’t put anything in a bin, they are a waste of space. As he said, he has plenty of it, I don’t. I put everything in bags and stuff sacks. They can be squeezed into tight places, bins can’t and any air space in the bin is taking up unnecessary space.
Thats how I pack...until the wife adds her stuff 😡
The other four letter word😀
Elite Services 98402 DKWA LLC lol, we need our stuff.
HOW COME YOU HAVENT GOT THE KITCHEN SINK
Where did you get those high quality bins?
andy D at the shop.
