- The invention of MRI Scanner by Peter Mansfield. Short story. Kevin Fong. The One Show. Dr Sarah Jarvis. Harry Hill. Presenters: Matt Baker and Michelle Ackerley
- Komedie
The only reason I looked this up was because my Granddad was a programmer in his team.
The worlds first full-body MRI Scanner is on permanent display at The Suttie Arts Space, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
The story of MRI began in Aberdeen in the early 1960s, when a young researcher named John Mallard studied the magnetic properties of electrons in tissue samples. John Mallard moved to Aberdeen in 1965, to take up the newly-created Chair of Medical Physics. Professor Mallard was still very interested in the possible medical uses of magnetic resonance, and he appointed Jim Hutchison to work on this. In the early 1970s Jim started putting together equipment to measure magnetic resonance signals from hydrogen in tissue samples.
do you know if there are any documentaries on this? maybe even like a tv show

Somebody at York Uni was watching Star Trek.
What's the joke Peter Fong heard just before the program was filmed??
Would be great to just have a normal style of presentation without the four octave affected voice.
Who was first? Raymond Damadian? or Peter Mansfield?
@jeep23862 If you first came up with a great idea and someone stole all the credit you would be crying about it too. Don't act like you wouldn't.
Raymond was first but his machine was flawed and slow, all of the MRI machines in the world are based on Peter's design, with the first being built in Aberdeen, Scotland.
Thanks white man!!!
Raymond Damadian invented it. This show is trash.
Why is no one using Raymond's machine then? Why does the entire world use Peter's scanner instead of Raymonds?
I don't know if what you said is true or not. @@krashd
Fake news. Raymond Damadian developed the world's first MRI machine in 1971.He also proposed its use to detect canerous tissue in a human body. Later, the MRI machine was perfected by Paul Luterber who developed a machine to be used on human beings. Then Peter Mansfiled built a prototype and used it on himself, a 50 minute procedure, and produced the world's first living human MRI scan.. They both shared the Nobel Prize. Somehow in this video you refused to mention the two american scientists who were behind this invention. Typical BBC.
