    I saw him a few days later in Toledo Ohio Mark Boals missed his flight and quit the band so it was Yngwie handling all the vocals after the show I took His setlist from the stage and asked him to sign he went phhttt raised his hand and brushed me away and walked onto the bus . Wally Voss the bass player saw this and said give me that ill get his ass to sign it! I hear them screaming back and forth at each other he comes out hands me the setlist autographed and says here you go man .

    This is the pinnacle of Malmsteen in my opinion. By 1986, his songs were much better than the early albums, and his playing here is just insane. INSANE. Such a shame we have no quality soundboard mix of this. I think people forget just how good Malmsteen was before his car accident in '87.

      +Sam S He was still great after his accident. His playing on albums like Seventh Sign, Magnum Opus, the Concerto, Attack etc... is still top notch. He still plays and composes at a high level.

      +epic103 I bump into you staunchly defending Yngwie on a lot of videos, my friend. There is no way you can claim Yngwie performs with this level of dignity and quality during his live shows these days, or for the past decade, even. From all I've seen and heard, his (stage) prime was '84 - '86. I admire his playing from that time above any other guitarist. He continued to play masterfully for years afterwards, just not necessarily any more.

      I disagree... I've seen Yngwie live in concert about 9 times over the last 20 years and as recently as 15 months ago, and I can tell you he still plays at an extremely high level. He's still an amazing player.
      As I stated before albums like Seventh Sign, Attack, Unleash the Fury, War to End All Wars, the Concerto etc... are proof that Yngwie plays great after his early albums.
      Of course his early albums are brilliant but he's still put out a lot of great music over the last 15 to 20 years.
      He's in his 50's now and he still rocks pretty hard. In my opinion he is a game changer like EVH and Hendrix before him, he deserves all our respect. He's an incredible talent.

    Mark Boals is absolutely amazing. Yngwie also plays with so much passion.
    It is a shame that there are only few live recordings (bootlegs) of this period with Boals.
    Although the sound quality of the recording is not good ( after all it is a bootleg), you can feel the energy of the performers.
    It is a legendary live. Legend by name, legend in nature.

  • @YM-se2fl
    @YM-se2fl Před 7 lety +39

    Yngwie is truly a stand alone musician that cannot be duplicated or outdone by any guitarist ever to touch a guitar. Let's face it he is taking what the masters of old such as Bach Paganini and Mozart. He's taken what those masters did on piano and violin and modernized it for our enjoyment on electric guitar and a massive stack of Marshall amps. I am a drummer and would give anything just to jam with him one time. He is passionate about his craft and it shows onstage. Yes he is accused of being arrogant and full of himself. And I do respect musicians and people in general that have some humility. But Yngwie has the right to be as haughty and arrogant as he chooses. But with him he can back up that arrogance simply through his mastery of the instrument. I actually enjoy watching his haughtiness onstage and off cuz noone can touch his skills. He is the guitar god in my opinion. He is a badass on guitar and playing with his teeth and flipping the guitar around his neck and kicking picks into the audience is all about showmanship. He gives 100℅ onstage and gives the audience a real show. I've seen him once on the Odyssey tour and it was an honor to see him pull it off live. Fucking brilliant he was and still is. I love Yngwie cuz he is a one of a kind that deserves all the accolades and money he has earned. Long Live the guitar god Yngwie J. Malmsteen!

      @wattage2007 Před rokem +4

      I agree 100% brother. I worked for a PA company in the 90s who did the Music Live event in Birmingham Uk every year. Yngwie was booked for the Marshall stage so I begged my boss to please be allowed to work at it. Instead, I had to look after the mundane local hires while the crew with attitude who liked 'edgy' shit metal got to go and did a thoroughly mediocre job, with Yngwie complaining to that disinterested bunch of clowns that the monitors sounded "like dogshit" during his performance. I was furious and sickened since if I'd been there, I would've absolutely gone out of my way to give the Maestro the absolute top quality service he deserved with total reverence. It's always annoyed hell out of me how people write Yngwie off as arrogant and have the nerve to criticise his personality without appreciating they're talking about someone who is to guitar what Einstein was to physics.

I was 19 years old and I played guitar in a band called Severe Warning at that time. I went with my friend who was our band manager, who drove us down to Legend Valley from the Cleveland area. Those we're definitely so much better times with such great shows everywhere! A list of Epic concerts and bands of that era we would go to see is an almost endless who's who of the icons.

    I just saw yngwie a few hours ago in memphis. His playing is still great and let me tell you, this guy performs his ass off! Much more of a rock concert than Vai, Satch, et al (no shade on them).

    I never got to see Yngwie in his prime during this period as I was pretty young and didn’t start playing until 1989. His tone and finesse during 83-86 was unmatched. After the 87 accident, it was never the same. Still great but not at the same level. He’s among my biggest influences of any musician but I tend to not listen to anything after Odyssey. Marching Out & Trilogy are my favorite albums. It would be nice for him to get away from this set up of these band members jammed into the corner and him taking up the whole stage. I don’t know where this mentality came to a head...I guess even as a headliner in the mid to late 80’s, he was never playing anything more than small theaters and mainly clubs. I’d love to see him work with Soto or Boals.....but that clearly isn’t happening. It’d be great to see an original rising force reunion but Marcel Jacob is dead, so is Wally Voss......even Mats Oluasson from his early 90’s period is gone. At least we have the bootlegs

    I remember playing "Fire" in the truck for a Yngwie hater , he just couldn't believe any one took the "Randy Rhoads idea" this far .Trilogy was as good as anything out there that was commercial ,with more of an edge .Way better than Ritchie Sam Bore Me

    • @shredsixsixsix9218
      @shredsixsixsix9218 Před 9 lety

      "The Randy Rhoads Idea" Means how the Ozzy Osbourne band with Bob Daisley and Don Airey ,worte songs that had a middle section,that took a life of it's own . A very memorable Bridge section,then a riff under the solo,which made and epic show case ,guitar solo,part of the song .

    • @centaurus5676
      @centaurus5676 Před 3 lety +2

      Yngwie was doing this before Randy Rhoads and Randy was never a shredder! People are saying Randy invented Neo Classical style playing, it's bullshit and even Akira Takasaki was doing it in 78 way before the first Ozzy album. Sambora shouldn't be even mentioned in the comment section, nothing memorable with his playing. Also Randy took [stole] most of his licks from Schenker.

      ***** I didn't care much for most of the songs on the steeler album. Didn't care much for keel. But I did like "no way out" and of course hot on your heels. Which I think yngwie should have seperated the intro solo from the song. Make the solo spot it's own song. He probably would have gotten even bigger if he'd done that. Look at EVH'S eruption how it's it's own track.
