Does anyone else remember being here about 39-40 and seeing those level ?? Gurubashi Trolls outside Zul'gurub and being like 'Holy fuck, I wonder what's up there'
You can say a lot about this game, but you can't say its original creators didn't know how to make media that would immerse you in its world in an instant.
As I', sitting here listening to this piece of music, my head begins to swirl... and suddenly I’m back in 2006. It’s late, I have school in the morning, but I don’t care. My parents don’t know I’m playing, but they are fast asleep anyway. I’m doing the Hermet Nessingwary quests on my level 39 priest, as well as trying to find those damned pages of Stranglethorn. Lots of things going on in trade, people looking for page 16, someone is attacking Grom’Gol village, and people are telling Chuck Norris jokes in local defense. I’m just half a level away from finally reaching 40, gaining a ton of new abilities as well as my mount, though I lack 30 gold for it, but I’ll get it somehow. Gonna take at least 1+ hour of grinding to get there though, if not more, leveling takes time... Two of my friends are online, kids from my school, leveling their characters as well. All of my friends are playing WoW, and the friends of their friends too. I chat casually with one of them as I’m killing raptors. Everything is so simple, and I’m enjoying the hell out of this game. Who could have thought killing mobs and grinding could be so rewarding? I’m absolutely in love with this game, I adore it. Then I’m back in 2014, 8 years later, and still listening to this piece of music as I think back to the old days, where everything was so simple and beautiful, and a tear rolls down my cheek...
I started playing WoW in 2008, I made an human warrior. my first WoW friend was a fastfood restaurant holder in Cyprus, I met him in goldshire, a special place I will never forget, I still remember how we went into duskwood togheter, totally unaware that we we're 7 levels too low, and how he explained to me that there was an underground train that goes to a cold place where a lot of dwarves live, oh I was so amazed, and was never so far away from the southern part of the eastern kingdoms, it felt so big, but now it seems so small..
Dude the chuck Norris bit hit me the hardest, I Loved the game the community everything. Why hasn't any other game had this effect. This game was my life for 4 solid years.
I remember during vanilla, when lvl 60 players actually didnt kill you in one shot, eventhough you were 20-30 levels lower. I had a lvl 60 rogue after me, when I played on my hunter. I knew he was after me so I marked him before he got into stealth at the nesingwary camp. I slowed him with concussion shot, took aspect of cheetah on and started to run. He mounted up on his 100% mount and ran after me.. I put down an icetrap and he did´nt resist it.. I literaly kited him from the northern STV to booty bay using concussive shot and icetraps. My adrenaline was super high until I finally ran to the inn and flew away!
Wouldn't the guards have killed you for entering pvp combat? At least that's how it is on vanilla P servers. If you pvp within a certain range of BB the guards will try to engage when you get there.
I miss being a complete noob at this game... WoW was so much more fun when you didn't know shit about the game and you was exploring the game for the first time. :') Miss 2005!
I miss it all. :( We all have a special place in our hearts for these WoW memories. Those who didn't play back then, really missed out on something special. I always loved the music here in STV
Anyone else remember the name of a specific person that ganked them? 8 years ago a player named 'Cornflakes' relentlessly ganked me in the Barrens. I still remember it to this day.
+537OH55V I remember a certain nemesis I had while I leveled my first character to 60. We kept running into each other several times at complete diffrent areas. Banan was his name, a troll shaman. When I hit lvl 60 I did not see him for like a year or so. Until I bumped into him in stranglethorn vale. I outgeared him like crazy and whopped his ass. Our battles used to be really even, now he had lost all his glory.
i still remember the very first time i was ever confronted with pvp in like 2006/7. happened in stranglethorn at nesingwary's when a horde guy came up to me and oh my god. got the sweats,my heart was racing. it was pure adrenaline
I remember back in Vanilla, when I was incredibly noob, that i enter to the Gurubashi arena with my main, a dwarf warrior only being 34, just to see that marvelous place, when suddently I get instakilled by a filthy undead rogue. Those were the good old times :')
The part around 2:55 reminds me so much of the old Jurrasic Park 2 video game, the Dark Jungle OST song reminds me of this, or rather visa versa considering the age.
i met my wife on sv in 2008, its crazy but its true. We started ganking ally, then started doing battlegrounds together, joined common guild, became friends, and it tourned out she lived 90 km from me, we began to meet, than i movedto her city, became couple, finally married
I never got to level cap in Vanilla. Soon as I got here on my rogue, it was all about the world pvp. My only regret is that this zone is a shadow of its former self. RIP Stranglethorn Vale, you were a swashbuckler's dream come true.
The zone where you got ganked so much your first time around, you became bitter and returned here long after to gank people yourself. An endless cycle was created.
So many people describing having lots of feels for this zone... it's really interesting being outside that bubble - I started playing in WOTLK and didn't really enjoy the game for the exploration (I'm very goal-oriented :P) THAT much. Almost makes me wish I had started playing earlier, enjoy the community you describe and all that. :P I know how it feels to get all tingly... played some games with amazing story (visual novels), and listening to the soundtracks in those games makes your legs weak.
2:52 - 3:32 gorgeous, a game this good with such good music and lore aswell. makes it even worse that its dead right now. the only way to revive a fraction of its glory is by legacy servers. but hey , you think you want it, but you dont.
Next Human character I make and hit 25.... Im going to Arathi. Im leveling up a paladin and Ive been in stuck in stranglethorn for over a week....never realized that it took FOREVER to do all the quests in stranglethorn..
PvP at its best. The most natural place for pvp games is old STV ( Vanilla and TBC ). DoTA, other tourney games are nothing if compared with the original of pvp in STV.
4:25 is so beautiful, until 5:25 comes with its desert/arab vibes. Like really, it's a crime for ruining such a beautiful theme and mood. I'm really sad that the piece from 4:25 doesn't continue.

+Patrick Owers
Was too busy getting ganked by Alliance.
Me too. Using vanish saved my ass several times😂
+Dan Slash So we did a good job :D
Ganked by alliance? Man, I was ganked by Horde.
Kenshinigami
I think that might be the reason I switched sides. For the Alliance!
Sooo much blood was spilled at the Nessingwary Camp :D
+RickTheRedBrick RiP Nostalrius. :(
+Devin Dyer Never forget, dude... Never forget...

2:53 I wish i could relive the first time i entered this zone
I miss it all. :( We all have a special place in our hearts for these WoW memories.
Those who didn't play back then, really missed out on something special.
I always loved the music here in STV
Cet endroit est mon préféré, j'y ai passé plus de temps que dans n'importe quel autre :)
That feeling when you hit level 29 and your on a PVP server.
or any level
After incessant noises for no fault of yours, creep!
Anyone else remember the name of a specific person that ganked them? 8 years ago a player named 'Cornflakes' relentlessly ganked me in the Barrens. I still remember it to this day.

537OH55V Yea well, i killed a feral druid in this area with my lock once xD And lots of rogues. So much ganking in this area.
Scariest place to come across other than Duskwood as a noob walking everywhere without leveling and dying.
Gankers anthem.
i still remember the very first time i was ever confronted with pvp in like 2006/7. happened in stranglethorn at nesingwary's when a horde guy came up to me and oh my god. got the sweats,my heart was racing. it was pure adrenaline
Some of my fondest wow memories were played to this tune right here.
:( dem feels. dem memories. It was such an amazing time of my life!
This zone was quite relaxing on PvE servers. Totally different experience.
+Koro this was my personal griefing grounds.. Many a noob and their main alt was slain.. Also STV event every 3 hours
RIP Nostalrius
Was in Stranglethorn when the server shut down
nostalrius will be back soon
I sold my account for $390 a few months before shut down because I had intel it was going to be closed. ^_^
Business my friend, business.
oh wait you said "months". Nevermind then. I read that as "days" for some reason. Sorry
It's back now and out of Blizzards reach because the server runners aren't in the U.S
I remember back in Vanilla, when I was incredibly noob, that i enter to the Gurubashi arena with my main, a dwarf warrior only being 34, just to see that marvelous place, when suddently I get instakilled by a filthy undead rogue. Those were the good old times :')
That's odd I remember hearing fortunate son playing endlessly...
Went here every time as soon as I could. Didn't dungeon because this zone was too good to miss. The pvp was always great. Back in the days..
The memories
Why do I keep coming here, I just wanna go back. :’(
RAWRAWRAW *troll dying*
Rogues clearly do seem to.
That magestic percussions! Never forget this music
Your head will be blown up too by the noises :))))
One of the best OST in WoW. 😢😭
This music gives me life! Ahhh the memories of ZG, Booty Bay and Zanzil =)

I still remember the exact place where i dinged lvl 40 on mu night elf warrior.
2:52 - 3:32 gorgeous, a game this good with such good music and lore aswell. makes it even worse that its dead right now. the only way to revive a fraction of its glory is by legacy servers. but hey , you think you want it, but you dont.

i was probably bitter about all the ganking i received, stv and hillsbrad got smashed as soon i hit the 50s
It was great once you had a max level character and could get revenge when someone ganked your alt here.

Highrate levelling? What kind of bullshit is that
Add in dung morough
This is what Stranglethorn REALLY sounds like czcams.com/video/qHTtkPLcgRA/video.html
This game sucks.
Something bad happened to gaming newer games just don't feel the same and I am not talking only about wow.
