Review Hario Skerton Plus manual burr grinder vs Handground Precision Burr Grinder

- Disclosure: Free sample received for review. A decent manual burr grinder that suffers burr wobble like most other manual burr grinders do that lack a lower bushing. Otherwise pretty decent for the price of around $39 USD.

Thx so much! Picked this one up at a thrift store for $1.99. Thought it was wore out when all I got was "rock". But thanks to you I made the adjustment and wow! What a deal!
I like your video that showed the PROS and CONS and I know whether I should buy it or not for my application. Thanks!
I’m new to the coffee scene and recently purchased this grinder. Thank you for this detail review! Looking forward to more coffee related reviews!
Thanks for watching. Never fear, I love reviewing coffee making equipment and just reviewed an electric conical burr grinder. Check it out. I'll also be reviewing a Nespresso new machine soon.
Thank you for the video. Very informative and detailed.
All best!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for your comment.
Thanks for this detailed review, very helpful. Will either of these be able to do a superfine grind for Turkish coffee?
WhatNext? You can get a very very fine grind with both of these. However it takes a really long time. You might be grinding for at least five minutes or more. Just to get 20 g
Thank you for the detailed objective review of both this and the javapresse. May I ask which grinder you prefer between the Javapresse and the Hario Skerton+, and is the Hario's performance/durability worth the extra cost? (It's costs about double the Javapresse where I live). Thanks.
7 Elemon What grind will you be doing most often? A very fine grind or more of a medium to coarse grind?
@@michaelerbreviews I'd say more on the medium to medium fine side for Aeropress/Pour over, as well as coarser French press - these cheaper grinders all have some wobble so I wonder which is more consistent throughout their grind range.
7 Elemon Although I have not seen it, apparently there is a newer version of the Hario Skerton which has improved performance. I would probably suggest going that route.
@@michaelerbreviews Ok, thanks for the suggestion. Will have a look.
@7 Elemon it’s the Skerton Pro. amzn.to/2G4R8b1
There is a newer version that has been altered to reduce the wobble, though I have the old version, so can’t say if it is better.
I'd love to see the new version and compare it.
@@michaelerbreviews If I'm not mistaken, you already have it? The Skerton Plus that has a "burr stabilizer plate" according to the manual. Part number MSCS-2DTB. The previous model was the Skerton and it's part number was MSCS-2TB.
Lagittaja the other response suggested that there was an improved version beyond what I reviewed. If that’s not true then I stand by my review and its conclusion.
@@michaelerbreviews There is indeed a newer version called the skerton pro that should have better consistency than the skerton plus reviewed here.
@@GamblerBE Good to know.
