  • Hey guys, Hope you're all doing well!
    This is the part 1 of identifying and fixing vacuum leaks in my bike and this should be helpful for you as well, if you are facing the same trouble as me.
    Here, we check the powerbox and pipe and replace the pipe.
    I hope you can notice the improvement in audio quality as many had suggested in the previous videos.

    @Bratty Biker, the suction noise described while idling . . Was it happening when you are twisting the throttle a few points from zero ? And disappears on giving subsequent throttle?
    Was it causing sort of metal screeching sound when bike is moving and throttle open more than half, Evidently at higher rpm?

    • @BrattyBiker
      @BrattyBiker  Před 3 lety

      This suction noise is evident when giving throttle from idle to raise the engine RPM. It is not heard that easily when the engine is revving higher.

    • @BrattyBiker
      @BrattyBiker  Před 4 lety +2

      The symptom is what you can hear in the first clip before the intro of this video. An Air suction sound when you open the throttle of an idling engine. This sound resembles when you don’t have an air filter at all.
      If you are able to hear this, then it is possible that there are vacuum leaks.
      Where is this leak exactly ? Stay tuned, more videos coming on this topic since this is a series of me fixing this issue :)

    • @BrattyBiker
      @BrattyBiker  Před 3 lety

      The powerbox was provided from the company to improve lowend torque (Pickup/Acceleration) of the bike when you give sudden throttle.
      No damage in removing that, but I’d just keep it.
      If you are removing that, make sure you change the manifold to that of RX100 (along with reed valve gasket).

    • @BrattyBiker
      @BrattyBiker  Před 3 lety +1

      The powerbox was designed and provided by Yamaha to improve low-end performance. When you suddenly open up the throttle to overtake, it takes time for the engine to pull in the air, carb to atomise and push out the fuel to the venturi and get mixed with the incoming air. The powerbox, works in a way that in every microsecond when the reed valve closes, some of the ready air fuel mixture thats at the intake manifold goes and gets stored in the powerbox. So when you blip open the throttle with the engine at low RPM, it can easily take the already prepared AFO mixture which is sitting in the boost bottle, instead of relying on the carb. But this happens in a ridiculously short amount of time as the boost bottle would get over and the carb would take over the job.

    Another cause of unstable rpm is carburator over flow check float seat and float neddel for an old bike like rx float seat would have worn out most probably if seat is not avilable you can try to repair (with your own risk) keep the float pin in float seat and tap very lightly because it is brass careful don’t damage float pin and you can test by filling a bucket full of water and blowing air in fuel inlet and holding float pin pressed against seat dont apply too much pressure and see if you can see any bubbles if not good you are done this problem gave my so much trouble thats why i am sharing 😊

      When airbox is leaking, it allows more air to enter through either the cracks in the box, hence it makes the mixture leaner.

      Every one is a lerner sir.my doubt continues....then uni/K&N filers do the same or not.
      They enhance the air flow(amount of air) like a leak in the air box is it like that???

    • @BrattyBiker
      @BrattyBiker  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, people install such filters so that the engine can recieve more air than what the stock air filter setup can.
      Filters like UNI,K&N allows for more air intake (less filteration too).With them installed, you have more air, you have to upjet the carburettor (use bigger jets) so that the engine doesn’t run too lean & destroy itself.
      Generally, the UNI filters you get here in India, are fakes & they don’t perform like the originals you get it in USA. So I’d suggest people to avoid it.

    • @BrattyBiker

      No, the fibre reeds are made for high performance bikes like the Shogun/Shaolin and RX135. Max 100/Samurai, even if you find one that fits, there is no performance difference. Keep the engine stock and it will be great. It is not really suited for performance modification like fibre reeds or porting.etc

      @@kaushikkalita7310 Amazing work! Did you work something about cooling ? TVS engineers made the fins larger on the Shogun and Shaolin for this issue as it was hard to keep them running cool.
      For the reed, It's possible to mod the cage to install Shogun reed valve. The Max came with a 2 petal reed, so you'll need to enlargen the reed cage and the Shogun's fiber reed should sit. Better yet, try finding Boyesen reed valves,

    • @BrattyBiker
      @BrattyBiker  Před 3 lety +1

      Could be. You can try installing the powerbox setup (135’s intake manifold,pipe and boost bottle). The RXG is actually a very quick bike, which had good lowend punch.
      Check your carburettor’s tuning.
      Check if your clutch is slipping.
      Check if your chain & sprockets are good and the chain is adjusted and lubed properly.
      Re-calibrate the oil pump or if you are running premixed, premix abour 25-35ml of oil for every 1 litre of fuel. Too much oil can cause leaner mixture = weaker combustion = weaker performance and especially lowend pull.

There might be a lot of carbon deposits in them which makes the flow very restrictive. Cleaning them out ensures that the port and exhaust is free and doesn't have restrictions to the flow of gasses which can improve performance and efficiency
