    Thank you this was very helpful. I got a multiple entry shengen visa from the greece embassy. Was planning to go to Greece,Croatia and few other countries for a short holiday. Due to the heat wave in Greece we thought of avoiding going to Greece.So was bit concerned whether we had to visit greece sometime during our stay and you clarified those doubts.It was purely due to weather situation we had to cancel our trip to greece

    Solution to this problem right here- I have a similar case. I am applying through Norway but i booked my flight to Sweden as first point of entry into the schengen area by mistake, so to really clear this up I emailed the Norwegian embassy in London and they confirmed that I can still apply for a Norwegian visa whilst having sweden as first point of entry. All one needs to prove is the correct itinerary.

      @@Introvertliving so your flight ticket can be to any country, but you have to apply for a visa from the country where you plan to stay the longest. In case you plan to stay equal number of day at more than 1 destinations, then I believe your visa has to be from the country which is your first point of entry. You can always email the respective embassies and get clearance for your queries. Hope this helps.

    Hey Oto does this also apply to residence permits. Let's say I have a resident permit from Germany and traveled back to Kenya can I fly directly to Spain with my residence permit without going through Germany?

      You are required to disclose the refusal and the reason why you were rejected. If avoiding this is the reason you want to apply to a different country, then the answer is no.

    One of the issue in the Uk at the moment is lack of appointments for Schengen visa, that is why we are applying for random EU country that have the earliest appointment even though we are not planning to travel there.

      @@eainthmuekyaw5949 my first entry was the country which gave me the visa, I stayed there for couple of days, then I travelled to a different country for a week, I had no issue when I travelled to other country. I will advice you to enter the country that offered the visa at least for couple of days. Just to be safe

      Hey Ada Sala! Thanks for sharing this information. But isn’t one of their conditions about the number of days you spend in both countries? Like you said the embassy you got your visa from was a couple of days visit and the subsequent country was a lengthier trip, so wasn’t that a problem?

    thats not what i was told by the greek embeassy. I was told i have to have all flights and accomodation booked and i cannot wing it when im there...for example...i decide on the day i want to check out italy...its not on my itinary when i applied the visa so i am not allowed to go italy....is this not the truth? whats the deal?

      No. There are no restrictions within the Schengen area.

      Once you are in the Schengen area, it doesn’t matter where you visit. Don’t overthink it.

      @@thewakaholic Hello Miss, my gf (she is from Vietnam) wants to do the same thing, she will be in Norway soon but i'm italian and she wants to come here (In Italy) as fast as possible. If she stays in Norway less than in Italy (even if she got the Visa from Norway), do you think she will have any troubles? Secondly, did you move by flying? Beacuse maybe at the airport they check those things more "deeply",than leaving, for example, by train.

    Also which travel insurance can I use?

      I am not aware that TLS or VFS processes visa applications for Poland. Last I checked, you should submit your application to the Embassy in Abuja.
      For travel insurance, you can approach any reputable insurance company to purchase one. I use Axa Mansard.

      Most countries that allow you use a substituted visa usually have a requirement stating that you must have used the substituted visa atleast once to travel to the country that issued it.

      Yes. It is single entry into the Schengen area. Once you exit to the UK, you cannot use it again.

      Proof of accommodation. If you have visited France, then you already know what to expect.

      You don’t need your bank statement. Have cash plus valid debit/credit cards.

      You just can carry a photo copy of hotel booking which is fully refundable..their are high chances the immigration will not ask you any questions as you already have a valid visa

    Hi Oto, Thank you for posting this very informative video. I had applied for a short stay visa through the Portugal embassy and got a multi entry Schengen visa. Due to massive delays by VFS, I have to change my itinerary now. From your video, I understand that my first port of entry could be any other Schengen state but it would be ideal to touch base at Portugal at least once. I was wondering if I need to spend more days in Portugal than the other countries because visa was issued by Portuguese embassy.

      I understand , I can spend more time in other countries than the country issued my visa. I am in a similar situation now. Can you clarify please. I got visa from French embassy but I could not make it as my visa was delayed. Now I am planning to enter Switzerland and spend more time in here. But I will be able to make another trip to France just for a few days before my visa expires which will be less than the time spent in Switzerland.       Don’t try it with Germany, maybe some other countries. Get to Germany first… take a bus back to Paris. Except you have evidence of Hotel bookings and all that. If not you may not be getting your next Schengen visa…

    VERY INTERESTING VIDEO ..... I had suspected this was true but the applied to country wants you to think you will spend all your time there, but NO, you can go on to other countries.....
    I am assuming your TIME required IN YOUR APPLIED country DOES NOT HAVE TO BE done there but in ANY SCHENGEN member country ??
    SO, if I apply to Portugal D7 visa and get it, they require you stay in Portugal 6 months per year but IN FACT you can spend your time IN ANY SCHENGEN country and it should count. CORRECT !

      That is completely different from what is discussed in the video. If your visa requires strict adherence to the rules of issue, then you must comply.

    I got my Schengen visa for Spain and I visited Spain as well. Then after the expiration, I again took schengen visa from Spain embassy. Now as it is my second time getting this visa, is it required for me to travel to Spain atleast once before it gets expired?

      If you got a visa from Spain, then it is because you convinced the embassy that you were going to Spain. You know the right thing to do - do it.

      I do not understand what you mean by ‘German information’. If Belgium is your primary destination, then that is where you should apply to, and include the information regarding your stay.

      Hey I also have a Slovakia visa but only because I couldn’t get any other country. I watched the video and she said for good relation try to but it’s not necessary. And truthfully they won’t be able to track if you enter via another country anyway, because you can still claim to have entered it or say that your plans changed.

    Hi oto please my question is…I got a single entry Schengen visa from Greece embassy I traveled to Greece but I want to go to France now but I have a return ticket from Greece back to Nigeria. So after visiting France can I still come back to Greece to travel back to Nigeria
    But I have a single entry visa

      Yes. It’s single entry to the Schengen area, therefore it’s valid till you exit the area. France is in the Schengen area.

      Madam i have type C single entry visa. I already booked a ticket. From dubai to zurich and return ticket is from milan going back to dubai. Would the immigration aiport will question why i will exit to milan.? Since my visa granted by switzerland embasy? Please answer my question. Thank you

    I granted a schengen visa from Canada to Norway (Canadian travel decument). I appleied for only 21 days, but since my visa is valid for 180 days i want to add some days (35 days totall) I asked to thos who approved the visa if it is okay to add some days and they said it is possible as soon as the visa is valid, but i get a bit warrid since the decuments that i have to take with me showed that i applied for 21 days. So does it will be problem if they realized that the date of exit on the documents (Sponsor form, invitation letter etc) and the flight ticket? Pls any advice Thanks in advance

    Hello..we have a trip planned for iceland and faroe islands..
    But most of the stay is in iceland (9days)..and 6 days in faroe island and Denmark together...the problem is we are not able to get a appointment at visa application center for iceland...can we apply for denmark and enter iceland??...will their be a problem at reykjavik passport control...pls give your views on this

    We got our Schengen visa from Germany but wanted to go to Greece. They told us WE HAVE TO GO to Germany. The Germsn embassy forced us to change our flights from Athens to Frankfurt. Nothing is guaranteed these days.

      It’s just common sense, you can’t bring the a sole itinerary of another country to another embassy and expect to get the visa. Even if you never intended to visit Germany , your itinerary shouldn’t have stated that. Besides, all these visas have quotas. So let those who want to visit Germany get it.

      Did you watch the video? I mentioned that there are no border restrictions within the Schengen area. You can travel freely within the member states with a visa from any of the Schengen countries.

      I cannot confirm that you can. The seafarer visa is basically a transit visa, therefore, using it as a visitor's visa may not be possible.

      If I were applying to France, I would extend my itinerary in France and still include Italy.
