    Love the thinking of going vertical and creating a scape that is interesting with color and variety year long!

      I really want to see something outside my windows when it is bitter cold outside so it should help!! 🌲😁

    a breeze is good for blowing away a sneeze, a wind just makes plants bend

    Hi, I admire you for braving the cold and wind. I like how you used the rocks to edge your bed. It looks nice and provides distinction. My Black Lace Elderberry is 10 feet across and at least 15 feet tall. I know you can prune to keep them smaller but I have the space so I’ve not pruned mine. I’m in the PNW so our weather is a bit different too. Questions, did you put the bark directly on the grass? How do you maintain the edge between the lawn and the rocks? I struggle with that. Also, how do you like your dumping cart? Brand?

      Thanks, Betsy! I do plan to keep my elderberry trimmed down and will prune after it flowers each year! I did just put the mulch directly over the grass because if I do it 6 inches thick most grass cannot grow through. If it does, I will pull it. Once a year at the beginning of the year I do use a spray between the rocks to ensure the grass does not creep in, but otherwise I dont have a problem with it as my husband uses the string trimmer to trim the grass to bare ground a few inches away from it. I will try to do a video that shows what I mean in the future!! 🌻🌿

      And as for the cart, it is a gorilla brand cart my hubby got at home depot to help move the rocks around the yard. I like the du.ping features and the turn radius is good. The wheel base is a little wider than I like and I wishit was lighter because I am small, it is heavy duty and should last long! 🙂🌻

      @@Suburbanoasis Thanks for responding. I’m wondering about the cart cause it looked heavy when you were dumping it. I broke my back last year and I’m healing but I have to be very careful. It looks easier than a 3 wheel wheelbarrow.

      Ow! I hope it is getting better. They had some assembled at home depot so maybe you could try before you buy!🙃

    Did you put down cardboard

    • @Suburbanoasis
      @Suburbanoasis  Před 2 lety

      I didn't. I had my husband cut the grass low as possible and then weed whipped it even lower and because i used about 6 inches of mulch just before the winter it smothered the grass really well. 😃🪴🌾🍁
