  • Yet another incredible porcini find! This has been an amazing season. The two huge porcinis we found in this video were quite impressive, but they didn't come close to beating our previous record of 2.3kg.
We also found some other edible mushrooms including the honey fungus and birch bolete.

Thank you for your positive feedback. We usually dehydrate the big old ones or spread the spores in hope more porcini will grow.

Thank you so much for watching 😊. We are glad that you enjoyed the video. I think generally in asia there are mushrooms in the bolete family which are similar to the porcini.

Great finds, what kind of weather patterns do you follow to find porcini during this time of winter? I'm struggling to find any in my country, I'm wondering if you've got a species adapted to colder weather.

Thanks for watching our videos. Generally the porcini ends when the temperature gets really cold in South Australia, for example under 10 degrees celcius. Ample rain is also important combined with warmer winter temperatures.

@@FruitsOfLife001 Does this mean below 10 at night or does it reach that cold during the day in South Australia? We're sitting with highs of 18 during the day right now and lows of 8 at night.. we're having a warm week after lots of rain, I'm thinking tomorrow might be a good day to go out and check before new rainfall over the weekend

@stephanjacobs7371 to be honest. I'm not an expert haha. At the moment the temperature is around 10 degrees at night. If you're having warm days with plenty of rain, it might be the perfect condition for porcini. Good luck. Let me know how you go.
