- Not that long ago, putting an optic on a pistol meant a Rube Goldberg of a mount and a huge honkin' sight that made the gun awkwardly top heavy. Not anymore! Brownells Gun Tech™ Caleb Savant shows us the Steiner MPS "Micro Pistol Sight," a robust, versatile red dot sight with a pleasantly wide field of view. You can mount the MPS to almost any pistol, including a Brownells BRN-180S®, as Caleb has done here. It fits the ACRO mount footprint, and plenty of adapters are available to fit other red dot sight cuts. The MPS has a 3.3 MOA dot that is windage and elevation adjustable in 1 MOA clicks up to 90 MOA. Hit one of the +/- brightness control buttons on the right-hand side to turn on the dot and segue into choosing one of the 6 daytime and 2 night vision brightness settings.
Steiner put the battery compartment on the top of the MPS, so you can swap the CR-1632 power cell without having to dismount the sight from the gun. Good news: the battery will typically last for 13,000 hours and the reticle automatically shuts off after 13 hours, so you shouldn't have to change the battery very often. "Great," you say, "But does it hold up?" Caleb gives us his assessment of the Steiner MPS red dot sight's build quality. - Sport

Arm or leg
They're a retailer. As much as I enjoy their videos of learning a nugget or two of tips or something new, I'm not surprised they use this as a means to promote their products they sell or withhold price so they can afford themselves some leniency to price accordingly to the market demands
@@alliwantisfinancialstabili7414 Yeah, they're the most expensive retailer, as far as I know.
I own three. They are mounted on FN 510, Shadow System XR920, and Springfield Echelon. Phenomenal sight. The SS XR920 is my daily carry. With a street price of 450-500. Great sight at a reasonable price considering you are getting a tank of a sight.
I like your demo gun. Just got my BRN 180S finished. Very nice.
Always a Fan of Steiner.
Hop over on TFBTV has a love/hate relationship with Steiner optics. Would be cool to have him on an episode sometime.
How else could brownells hopelessly shill for the product if Hop obviously points out this is underwhelming?
Hop a second rate James reeves 😂
Steiner is like 3 years behind the curve and has had QC and CS issues.
Yeah and at their prices you'd expect combat ready!
How can they be 3 years behind the curve when only Aimpoint and Holosun got something similar, and major players like Trijicon or Leupold don't?
@@ichderjogi Because Holosun and Sig have had these features for over 3 years. They are way, way behind the times. And so are Aimpoint and Holosun.
@@Valorius the only feature this optic doesn’t have that other manufacturers do is shake awake. Not sure what else is “behind the curve” on this but holosun for example has a pretty storied history of their 509 breaking or being considerably less durable than the Acro, which really leaves this and the Acro as the only two real enclosed emitter options for a micro dot and the Acro had a lot of issues before the Acro P2 which was a recent addition. Like Sage Dynamics said, you don’t have to be the first to release a product, you just have to release the best product.
@@TheHashtagSquad2K15 the acro is pure garbage I don't know what you are talking about. In addition to not having Shake awake this also lacks a circle dot reticle. It is years behind the curve. And overpriced junk.
I’m more interested in the BR 18!
Same...
A really small optic for a rifle, looks like it's out of place, and I don't think that it wouldn't hold up with anything I have, an it's probably a little bit pricey for it's a Steiner product, thanks
What 1913 Pick rail adapters is that for the Steiner?
When showcasing optics, how about a few seconds of camera footage looking through it? Thanks and keep the videos coming.
good video
im going to go on a limb and say this one aint taking off.
Closed emitters are amazing.... I feel left behind with my regular open emitter... 😢 , Makes me wish y'all did giveaways 😂
Brownells 1939-2024 RIP...We will miss you !!! Corn by one's onw bushel.
I've been seeing a lot of optics I'd like but then I see the reticle and end up preferring Holosun because they have a better reticle
THANKS
Just ordered with a fcd m17 Acro plate!
I'd like if these videos included even a very rough msrp value for the items
I just got one mounted on a Wilson Combat SFX9. So far I really like it, but I’m having a hard time, pressing and holding both buttons for 10 seconds to disable the 13 hour off feature. I wish you’d make a tool that would let me press and hold both buttons at the same time. I find it very awkward and impossible.
Would that fit on a P365XL?
What doctor cut Picatinny rail mount did you use?
Hmmm with that amount of lens flare better not use this thing for stealth OPS. Or is there like a killflash available for this thing?
Very cyberpunk
how about a link , to your website, to this product?
How about seeing the red dot guys
Are risers available?
This isn't really my thing but it is Brownell's part number: 100-049-104WB $499.99 on 4/28/2022
Would appreciate it if you guys would fix the Brownell's website so I don't get two FULL SCREEN pop ups I have to exit out of before I can access the rest of your website. I already have issues with Brownell's website formatting.
$500? Steiner needs to figure out it takes more than a German name to be worth that
Ahhh,,,another mini tube tv
Yes,but how much $ ?
Hey Steiner, welcome to 2010!
the first enclosed pistol red dot was the Aimpoint Acro in 2018/19. Even that only really became usable with the second variant last year (battery life)? Ill agree the Holosun 509t got a lot of features, but Its from 2020 as well.
Direct product links are always helpful - especially the rail mount I can't seem to locate...
LOL, being a Steiner I'm guessing this far from cheap - and no motion activated on/off funtion? How many people actually break sights these days? This might make sense for large scale operations but even then you have to turn your optic on with a button...
Why would you ever want your optic to not be on? Shake awake is technology is just one more thing to malfunction
motion activation (Motac) technically is on and looking for any movement. Personally I have it on all my optics except a Delta Point Pro. No failures. Have never heard of a Motac failure. You're more likely to get a dead battery failure before a Motac failure.
Just when I thought I had it figured out here he goes calling Burris, Bureaus. Idk anymore 👽
Chunky boi
MSRP...???. Probably more than most people can afford, give its a Steiner, but curious non the less.
499 lol. Your choice between this or an eotech
TV ON YOUR GUN HOLE
Msrp is around 575 bucks or so I think
Wish these were $100-200
Can auto off be disabled? Who the hell wants their rds turned off in the event of a situation
Way too much $ for a RED DOT
M-mein Caleb, S-Steiner…
Be better with a 2.0 red dot. Aim small Hit small 😉
Is this a prism or holographic? If its just a std red dot it's HUGE for size.
👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸☕️☕️💯
It looks cool but, if your not making "Shake Awake " and "50K" battery life- you are going backwards. I'll stick with my Holosun or Sig Sauer micro dots. Technology is supposed to move forward not, backwards. STEINER are you listening? I doubt it.
Imagine developing a pistol red dot in 2022 and NOT having shake awake. What a waste lmao
Is it made in China?
Germany lol
@@nicehandsfeet11 Thank you! 🙏
Any Idea A TO WHAT DISTANCE OUT IT'S GOOD FOR ?
It's a red dot lol
This is a bigger dot than most dots so maybe under 100 yards?
It's a place to poop in the woods.
I really hope this trend of "Macro TV's" passing as optics quickly subsides.
Yes, I understand the relevance but the overall size and footprint of these enclosed optics leaves _a lot_ to be desired. Not to mention that they are aesthetically displeasing.
The ACRO, MPS, HE509, AEMS, ROMEO8, UH-1, etc. All of these optics share a common attribute. They all look like a ridiculous mailbox attached to your platform.
This just begs the question: What do you [the viewer] think will be the next big thing in optics?
Stay classy my friends.
you think the same about eotechs, which are much larger and heavier and just as boxy?
I like me a good old fashioned Mail box
@@chad9166 EOTechs are obsolescent. And yes, hopelessly ugly.
No circle dot. Try harder. I call optics of this category PRDS (Pistol Red Dot Sight). No shake awake. Overly long shut off time. Totally blown away by 2 year old offerings from Holosun.
Hard pass.
Should have put it on a pistol too - fail on this video
3.3 MOA dot on an optic that is too big for a handgun anyway.
No.
Holosun, Sig Optics already have this thing beat.
So, you can tell it is durable by looking at it. What an incredibly stupid statement.
Who makes the adapter, and where can I get one??
