Caves can attract us with an air of mystery. We aren’t sure what’s inside and the adventure of the unknown makes some of us want to forge into the darkness and find out exactly where it leads. Caves are home to countless different animals as well as lost artifacts from eras long gone. They can be a fun place to explore to find something interesting. Sometimes though, they lead us to an even darker discovery.

After the roughly 30 second intro of each episode, there’s generally a short pause, the intro music plays, and then the story starts at the beginning. Every time I get to the pause, I say in my head “This… is Monsters” and then I realize that it’s NOT Monsters! …And then I think about how awesome our man, Jiles, is to us, giving us TWO channels of content with regular uploads! Loving the new channel, my man, it’s a brilliant idea to create a show about sinister places, such a unique approach! I’m curious to see, after a year or two, which show will be more popular!?!
BRO RIGHT!!!! Tbh I think I might even like somewhere sinister more!!!! I’m binge watching and he’s simply amazing!!! Same energy like how does he do it!!! Usually one channel is stronger but not for Jiles 😏
I agree. Monsters is my favorite. Not taking anything from this channel because he is just that good. But it's something about Monsters I love. Opinion may change as he continues to grow sinister. Love him...😘😘
I stumbled across a small tunnel on a walk recently. Only went in about 20 feet, cuz that's how horror movies start. 😱💀
Wow, Loveless was a piece of work. Those eyes are terrifying. His family was probably relieved he didn't turn up again. Probably a case of vigilante justice.
Great job on this as usual!
Well, of *course* Joseph Henry Loveless could escape jails easily! Did you see his *eyes???* He was obviously from another planet!
How amazing that they were able to give him back his name, and work out at least some of what happened to him between when he escaped last, and he was eventually found.
They should list all his aliases, too ;}

I caught myself saying, ‘This is monsters’ after the quick caves intro…
Yes, every episode on this channel 😂
Ditto, then thought he needs another saying like "We're going Somewhere Sinister"
I do the same after every one
This comment will sound snobby but I'm not consciously being snobby! Often in videos, I listen along and silently correct the narrator's grammar, syntax and incorrect usage of words. So many people use big words and they don't know what they mean so it's jarring to hear lol. I never ever do that on your channels and I appreciate so much that I don't come out of my enjoyment bubble thinking "I do not think it means what you think it means" like im in The Princess Bride 😂
Thanks guys for providing a smooth and enjoyable listening experience!
You'd think by the 3rd escape they would catch on and take his saw blade before locking him up.
You would think...
😂😂😂 Right?!
Spoiler alert 🚨
@@SomewhereSinister I enjoy both of your channels your a great researcher and the stories are perfectly narrated. If you haven't already planned to add some stories about the history of NYC i would really enjoy some on Roosevelt island, central park aka Seneca village and the slave burial grounds throughout wall street and chamber street it's historical events that's being wiped out and swept under the rug. Thanks you and keep up the great work 👍.
Can i just say the intro song is epic
Say it some more please, 🔥🔥
The music and video intro is awesome...just sucks you right in!
Fascinated by the picture where the light from the cave opening forms a silhouette of a man's head. I'd love to have a copy.
The opening of this Channel & Monsters are everything! Your uploads are so good, never a boring episode! I’m a huge fan🙌🏽 Keep it up!👏🏽
I am loving this new channel. I always feel like I've learned something new.
I grew up visiting Idaho caves as a fun thing to do for us kids. Happy to announce my trips were normal and I would find arrowheads rather than hands. ✨
So many times when you do the intro I'm just expecting you to end by saying "this is monsters" 😂🙈
He should say, "Thisss. Is SINISTER." 😁😁😁😁😁
Same
@@retard_activated that’s a great idea 💡 😊
Yeah, doesn't sound like a very good human, in my opinion. Excellent video!
I'm glad that he was identified. That group is amazing!
Jiles. I adore you. Thank you for your content. You know me! I’ve been following you from the onset of all! ✌🏽💥🤘🏽 gingers unite my friend. So proud of you
Who else keeps his ears open to hear "this is monsters " after the intro speech?
Love your new channel so much!
And the opening music 🎶 is so perfect for something being Sinister 😉
The opening to the cave in the shape of a cowboys head. 🤠 so cool, wish I could do stuff like that.
I absolutely love the pausing in your stories and the way you end some of your sentences ...stop the train and escaaaappeee.....very unique!! love it ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for another excellent upload! It has it all... compelling content, great intro and of course your smooth as velvet voice. Your 2 channels ROCK!!! I get uploads on the regular. Good stuff dude. Just stellar that's all...
love the morning uploads more keep it up
Agreed, these stories keep me working!
Love this show Giles!!
Really enjoyed your video,I have subscribed.
Like they say in German, "Nie im Leben!"
BURTON Cave in Kentucky cured me of any desires to ever want to enter a cave.
I had no idea of its history when I went inside. I only looked it up later because my reaction was way too intense to be whatever a coincidence is in that situation. At first, I agreed with my dad and thought I was uncomfortable being enclosed in a small space, but not after that reaction. I've never felt anything so terrible before or since then and I'll never go into another cave.
Damn, that guy really had a face only a mother could love.
Dude I just wanna say that I've been watching your videos from day one here, and nowadays I watch you more regularly than Netflix etc. I could live without Spotify and Netflix, but I'd be lost without this channel. Keep it up, we appreciate you
All that fuss for the remains of a common criminal? Wow, now that’s a contribution to science and general knowledge!
I love the silhouette on the cave opening😊
The Doe project is just wonderful!
Anytime I hear “latter day saints” I know it’ll be one of the most d umb and gru esome thing I ever heard in my life
I just LOVE your stories (and "Monsters"). You have such a soothing voice, which adds the perfect counterpoint to your subject matter. Also, your use of the occasional "F-bomb" is pure artistry!!! 🥰
...didnt like an honests' day pay....Jiles has a melodic way with words. Love these channels. Endless knowledge
I live in N. Idaho....it's fun to hear stories about my area.
Speaking of cave stories, the story of John Jones and Nutty Putty Cave would be a really good one to do. It’s a sad story, especially considering how hard people tried to save him, only to have to walk away. I feel as bad for the workers as I do for John and his family. It must have been heartbreaking for everyone involved. It’s a good story to tell though and highlights the dangers of exploration, even for those who know what they are doing.
No shit you might be amazing what you’ll find inside a cave!!!!! Taking a RV with friends from Texas to Virginia we stopped in Kentucky at an RV park & decided to go cave exploring. Me and my best friend at the time went so far back you had a belly crawl and when it opened up to a bigger opening we sat back and shown our flashlights around and found old-school shackles secured into the wall!! Needless to say we hurried up and got out of that creepy shit!!
The intro music always reminds of a TV show Grimm that's filmed in Portland.
I came here from 'this is MONSTERS' and I'm not disappointed. Thanks!
Imagine your ancestors being the Loveless-Savages
Hold my beer Mr Houdini.
I'm from Salt Lake City, Utah and I LOVE BOTH of your channels This is Monster's and now a whole other channel with your style of content and story telling.....I just can't thank you enough for your sharing your talent with us!!!!
Your show is amazing 🤓love it
That picture of Joseph Henry Loveless is creepy as all hell!👀👀👀
Gday from Australia 🙂 great stories there beaut” keep up the great work people
Love your content! Greetings from Portugal!
I just recently moved to Idaho Falls. So I'm enjoying your stories that seem to be associated with this part of the world.
Our first season if focused on the northwest. It is crazy what can happen in the dark corners of the world.
I find Idaho deceptively sinister.
Short..... yet, still awesome. Thanks broski. Keep em coming my friend 😎✌🔥🔥🔥
Nice video, this guy sounded like a piece of work. When you said someone found a torso and it belonged to a man called Loveless, did anyone else think of Kenneth Branagh's character in Wild Wild West, who was nothing but a torso? Just me? 😂
Thanks for teaching everyone about DNA Doe, what a fascinating project! Again I love how you support and give voices to the missing, unknown, and lost. Excellent content as always.
6:00 love how that cave entrance is a profile of a man in a hat
Damn... What a gruesome episode. 👍👍👍
Visually adventurous and evocative …
Nice work 👏 love your channels.
I doubt a bounty hunter or posse killed him. My guess is either someone he crossed in his criminal life or perhaps a law man. Either way I'm thinking when he was chopped up and wrapped up the person who did it said..
"Let's see you escape this!"
Sensationally Sinister!
If I’m in a cave and there’s a spot you have to get down and squeeze through…Nope, nope, nope! I have mild claustrophobia that is triggered by low ceilings. Doesn’t matter how much space is around me. Low ceiling? Bye, see you later, outside! 😳
"Thisss. Is SINISTER." 😁😁😁😁😁
I like that I am starting at the beginning of this channel with you. I found Monsters a few months back and not sure how many more videos before I am totally caught up. It is kind of though. Have all that content to discover. I watch a few other channels kind of like this. You have the best voice, your timing on suspenseful things is spot on and at some point you always make me laugh. Great job. Thank you
Wow! I 💕 this new series. What a great way to start my weekend.
I absolutely love your voice!! It's so creepy; it gives me chills!
Love the intro! These shorter cases are nice too 👍
1:20 - that's the beginning to keep me interested - stating that human torso was wearing dark pants - it's instantly hillarious enough
Love your new channel!
Great sinister story!
Been a fan for awhile now, just subbed tonight. I don't always watch signed in, but I will always watch. (cue creepy piano theme).
❤️💕💕 another great story
He looks like Freddie Kruger 😳😳
Loving this channel. 💞🤟
Great research, and story telling
This series is great. Like really great. I binged it all today... my only complaint is that I'm out of episodes to watch!
Good story!
Very good story.
First time watching this channel and was waiting for " This Is Monsters" 😉
Was no one searching this man's attire when they brought him to jail? Like, he shouldn't be able to have a trusty saw!
i love the long form, don’t get me wrong, but i love a good short video, too!
Crap!!! I just binge watched all of these and now I have to wait for new ones!!!!
Cool. To the bat cave. I just got out of a cave and started to dig a hole instead... down in a hole.
Ok I’m sure I’m not the only one who patiently awaits “This..Is Monsters “
After he speaks In the interlude 😁
I bet the family was shocked
Kind of interested in how such a lowlife gets a cenotaph! Usually those are either for a number of people-like war monuments or for upstanding pillars of the community; Joseph was far from either of those!
keep up these high quality videos and your views and subscribers will increase
I loved it. It'd be cool if you guys did one on my 3rd cousin Blackie Audett. He was in Alcatraz for a time for robbery. One time he supposedly robbed a bank over night by loony tunesing the window with a painting to prevent himself from being seen by cops on the street.... It's a cute bunch of stories but he was known for being a bit a-hem hyperbolic... Still it'd be tits to hear it on here and I could be all, "I know this story!!"
3 places MrBallen taught me not to go :
1. Underground
2. Underwater
3. Out of the US
Thanks
So glad your voice is calming... cause your intro music and scene gets me nervous.🙋
I like how the picture of the entrance to the cave is Hat Man shaped...
Nice channel. Every time I listen to one of your videos, your voice reminds me of one from another channel - one about Top Places (to live, retire, etc).
You could always move to somewhere sinister.
@@SomewhereSinister Good one!
As soon as you said the word "caves," I backed out. Sorry, but I'll have to phobiate. Love your stuff. Bye, now.
Aye! No rambling on this one 🤟 great vid 👌
Man, those were the days. When all it took to thwart the criminal justice system was a saw blade in your boot. I wish I had a time machine!
no caves for me!!1 EVER!!!!
Too short!!!!!!
Even in da afterlife joseph remain loveless
HNNG yess
Eh 54k subscribers….. it was 53 just a few mins ago 🎉🎉🎉🎉
You should do one about the old hospital in eureka springs Arkansas now known as depressant hotel
💜💜
Saint Anthony Idaho is the place of nightmares. It’s where the bad kids are told they will be shipped to and spend the rest of their life in Idaho. Idaho has probably the most corrupt police department in America. It is very small town mentality and since they are the biggest power, there’s nobody to complain to. I know people in Idaho when I was a teenager a friend of mine was locked up and held for 90 days strapped to a bed. He was arrested by the police department and taken to a place called Intermountain Hospital, where his doctor was Zane Nelson. They simply wanted him to accept the Mormon church and they held him for 90 days and made him listen to Mormon teachings and told him they would ship him to Saint Anthony’s or Blackfoot Idaho insane asylums. If he did not agree to conform to the church is standards. That was in 1989 in that hospital still is operating today nobody in the nation has ever addressed the corruption in the Idaho political and judicial system. It is the dark cranny in your house or the black widow lives that you never look. That is what Idaho is.
But if you are feeling sinister
Go off and see a minister
The chances are
You'll probably feel better
If you stayed and played
With yourself
- Belle & Sebastian
One of the best albums ever. Great ref!
@@SomewhereSinister It really is, and I'm so thrilled you know it! XOXO
Once at a live show I saw B&S do "Time of the Season" by the Zombies, it was incredible
The intro music is dope and could be sampled in to a crazy beat. Add a bass line and I guarantee you’d have artists reaching out to lay verses down or buy it outright lol . Salute to you
Hey Monsters/SS could you do one on Elephant Butte NM?
If it wasn't a law officer it should have been.
