I'm definitely not colourblind but the one at 2:12 was really difficult to see! I think I can see a 1 but I wanted to know if anyone else that isn't colourblind still had some trouble with it
yeah! it's a one but difficult. there was another bright one I couldn't see but adam guesses immediately, whizzed right past it.
That and the 5 one, I can't see either. I think it's because colorblind people and us see things differently.
there's nothing there, a top of a seven or two but not the bottom, I think that's their trick question. I took a good long look at that one too and I can clearly see the curved part of the top of a seven or two and I can totally see why he would choose the seven. If you read my comment you'll understand why I said this.
i had trouble that one to and the one at 3:13 he said he saw a 5 but i didn't see anything. i'm not colorblind either

Yeah, they are around $300. Each viewer only has to give around 0.50 minimum and I'm sure you'll get $300 fast. Giving like $1 or something is not that much just for the chance of an amazing possible video and experience. Do think about it :)

I think it would be fun if Adam drew something from a default color palette that Steph chose.
For example: if we see yellow, we would think of drawing a banana.
So maybe he would get a pink, so he would see gray and then draw like an elephant -> so we would see a pink elephant

There was a girl in my primary school who was colourblind but it was extremely rare type of colourblindness called achromatopsia ( I think ) she sees the world in black and white.
She has never seen colour.

It's quite unusual for women to be colorblind so that's interesting. I had a film studies teacher who had the same thing. He would always point out patterns and lines in how something was filmed (like how objects brought perspective to a scene) because as he said "I am not distracted by the color". He also wore really thick glasses that made his eyes seem tiny. He was a great teacher.

No I'm pretty sure there was a 1 in that one, it's kinda hard to see but you just need to look closely (I'm not colorblind)
Also that number 5 one, there definitely is a 5 there, I can see it pretty clearly (it's lighter than the surrounding color)
If/when you get the glasses, don't be discouraged if they don't work at first. For some people, it takes a few weeks for their eyes to get adjusted, so you may have to wear them for a while till it works.
So you are skeptical of those spectacles?

That's a good question! he seems so used to it, having faint clues in the shades of grey. he didn't seem to have a whole lot of trouble at times with brightee colors

For the Q&A:
In the other video Adam said that the leaf's of the sunflower are a pretty nice yellow but he actually picked a strong neon green.. in reverse it would mean that Adam sees Steph's hair as green? 🤔

Bloody Crowley・King Of Hell ~Kiriko~ it's probably more like he sees both of them as the same kind of middling gray-green-yellow, not that he flips either one! bright yellow and bright green just likely look like two subtle shades of one color.
He sees green as yellow so he sees the hair as yellow but he sees other things like grass as yellow as well.
If Adam likes numbers (even if he doesn't, it's pretty intuitive), teach him hexadecimal colours (which helps understand intervals of how we divide colours linguistically). It's based on pixel/light based RGB colour theory. To understand, hexadecimal (16) is a number system that counts 123456789ABCDEF in increasing order. Hexadecimal colour uses these values in a 6 digit code RrGgBb - where the capital is like the "coarse" amount of that base colour in the selected colour, and the lowercase is the "fine" amount of that base. For example, a full Red would be FF0000, a full Green would be 00FF00, and a full Blue is 0000FF. You can search up an RGB light venn diagram to figure out where the other colours fit in relation to RGB base colours. One last tip is to look up HSL (Hue, saturation, and lightness) and how it relates to hexadecimal (ie if two base colours are similar in number, it appears desaturated because there is no dominant colour). Hopefully this helps when picking colours, if you just memorize the intervals or how it appears on the spectrum that might help! Sorry for the length, hopefully this helps ❤

Do you ever think that some characters in tv shows look especially dull compared to all the other ones. If they are like these desaturated pastel colores but you see them in all grey? It is really hard to imagen, I think it is great that you guys are doing these kind of educational videos about this topic
Wow, I had no idea that being colorblind was so different from my own vision. I feel sad for colorblind people that they don't get to experience the beauty that is taken for granted by most of us. Very informative video. Thank you.

I literally lived 13years of my life without realizing I'm colorblind I just took an online test and I'm a mild pro tan who mixes up greens grays blues and sometimes unsaturated reds..........this explains a lot
You guys should let Adam make a colorblind OC, or a character that's colored by Adam and is colorblind as well. idk it'd be cool if you get what I'm saying.
so like daredevil who can see but can't tell which color is which? (altho some version of daredevil has his senses so high he can tell which color it is by analyzing the vibration length of light)

The fact that Adam is colour blind is really interesting and I love watching him try to pick colors. I wish he will get glasses or something not to use forever but just to see what we see every day
We watch doodle date as a family and it was really interesting to see how Adam sees the colours. We were just wondering how Adam chooses his clothes cause they co ordinate.
I really loved that picture of the mermaid. I love your art style so much Adam! And I have to say wow... At the end when she ran it through the app, I was looking at it like... Wow, these are all the same colour! That's almost a cruel test! I really like the colours together though, Steph was right. ^.^

Adam said he colored the pig a hot pink, but when I see the way colorblind people would see it, it looks gray.
Whenever I come back to watch this video, I am always blown away by the last screen recording when we see how Adam sees his own drawing. It's honestly so impressive that he manages to even tell the pinks from the rest of the swatches so easily! I feel really grateful to have the whole spectrum in my color vision, I would not have the patience or the mental strength to be an artist with colorblindness. To everyone struggling with it, all the power to you guys! I am in absolute awe at your determination!
It must be so frustrating for Adam hearing the results! I would personally love to see more colourblind videos (especially the comparison between steph and adam's colouring!) it's so difficult to wrap your head around what the colour spectrum looks like to Adam so I would love to see more!
I actually did this test just out of curiosity and learned I'm triomaly color blind. I can't see blue or yellows. The irony was that my old schools colors were blue and yellow.
When did you first tell Steph that you were colorblind?
I just find this so interesting!!! Embrace your color blindness!!! It’s amazing and quite inspiring for any artists out there who has color blindness! It makes me wish i could see through your eyes and experience your color blindness and see how you see the world.
I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but I think Steph did an amazing job at creating this color test. It's crazy that we ended up getting to see almost *exactly* what Adam sees. Very clever!
If you see colors so differently than someone who isn't colorblind, how did you learn colors properly? Like how do you know that when Steph says pick a green its actually green to you? The question is a bit confusing, but I hope you get what I mean!
Kristin Brancheau steph has mentioned that she normally labels the colours he uses when he needs help.
Kristin Brancheau Coming from someone who isn't colorblind, but has a friend who is I think a lot of it is getting used to certain colors looking certain ways.
For example, when I looked at the almost grayscale image that is similar to what Adam sees, I saw that the pinks were slightly more brown toned compared to the greens which looked more gray. I think colorblind people get used to certain Colors having a certain tint, however sometimes when two colors are too similar they can mix them up, like the pinks and the grays for Adam.
I don't know if that made any sense. I hope Adam sees and answers your question firsthand
Oh No I heard that mentioned as well. I meant more along the lines of how did he learn colors. Because he sees then different he must've learned them different. If someone were to hold up a pink card to him with the word pink written on it, but he sees it as grey does he think grey is pink? Like i said its a bit confusing trying to get my question across.
Kristin Brancheau I get what you mean! As a colorblind person myself I wonder this myself. How do we know that when someone says *Red* people with "normal" vision all see the same thing. If we have no way to explain that Red is simply *Red* , someone could see *Red* as the color of the sky but still know that that shade is *Red* .
So do you think that (for example) he would like see our yellow and call it yellow, but if we were to see what he was seeing, it would look green to us? (Sorry if that didn't make sense)

this is so encouraging as a person who was recently diagnosed with colour blindness who loved to draw but haven't been confident enough to draw for a while. i have watched and followed you for so long and my vision has been geting gradually worse and i stopped to draw but these two videos have helped me so much and i really want to start to draw again now. thank you for helping me wanting to get back to art.
About the glasses: Here in Germany you can order them and try on, if the glasses do not work you can retun them and get all of the money back :) so maybe you should come visit us here and just try ;)

I have so much respect for you to be able to colour things as well as you do! I'm only slightly colour blind (red/green, basically) and it's so cool to me that you keep making art and pushing through this thing that could easily be a reason to totally give up colouring.

I took the test and it said I was a mild protan. Not sure how bad that's supposed to be but I'm a female and I've never heard of my dad being colorblind. I have bad eyes in general though so.

same I think it's because of weak eyes (saw your classes on the profile picture) because I got -4 on both eyes and I don't see a difference either so may our eyes are just to weak to see that small of a difference

I'm curious, what color does Steph's hair look like?
My best guess is it looks the same for Adam - yellows and light beige colours are not usually changed, it just might look ashier than it does to a normal person.

I have previous experience with colorblind men, an old boyfriend and my grandfather. My ex-boyfriend had a complete Red-Green blindness which took away purple leaving it blue. My grandfather only saw grey and brown, nothing else. I love Adam dearly so it was sad to see that in his world he was seeing so much yellow tones and blue. Yet, on one of the test slides I couldn’t see any number at all. I do love color. I love watercolor and handblown glass because it’s such an intense way to see pure jewel toned color. I love purple and violet and periwinkle and can’t imagine a world without those beautiful colors. Thank you both for helping us.
I don't want it to sound like i pity Adam but seeing a little bit like he sees, brings me so much joy that he still makes such amazing art. Despite not seeing all the colors or fix matched colors.

The end of this one is so cool where you've used the app to show us what Adam sees (or close to what he sees, at least).
I watched this ages ago and rewatching it now after seeing the enchroma glasses one. I'm so happy for him that the glasses worked
this has helped me understand how Adam sees a lot! Perhaps in the future you both can color in drawings with the same color swatch palette and compare how you see the them
