I know this video is old but I am so proud of myself. I just started crocheting in December, so about 5 months ago. I started with scrunchies, then moved to granny squares and blankets…..stuff that required flat basic stitches basically haha. Amigurumi intimidated the heck out of me. I really want to make my son and nephew Naruto amigurumi figures but I know I’m just not at that level yet and keep putting it off. But tonight I saw this and fell in love. It’s super cute, I happened to have the exact same yarn so I got to work. I couldn’t stop once I started. I even have the safety eyes bc I want to learn so I finally used a pair! I am so proud of how my little friend turned out snd it was all bc of you! Thank you so much for going step by step, real time, just crocheting together not like other tutorials. I know I’m a tight crocheter so my tail got small quick haha to the point I had to switch to a smaller hook bc I just couldn’t even get it half as long as it should’ve been with the other hook. But I think he came out decent. I also didn’t have pipe cleaners but I had just gotten a package today with the little twisty ties like on bread packages. So I took 2 of those and they worked great! Not as strong as pipe cleaners I’m sure but worked in a pinch at 3 am when I’m doing it haha. You have given me the motivation to try more patterns and hopefully get the skills I need to make my son and nephew their presents for Christmas maybe lol thanks so much!

Ong! How? I've never followed such a complicated tutorial. I find his videos very difficult to follow and I've made a sweater, 2 summer tops, a few blankets, a scarf, and a few of these animals, so I understand the pattern but I can't see his work to see if I'm on track. Not being able to see the nose until it was completed and then I had to take it apart and start again. I still don't know where I messed up and I know I made my own design for most of the body. The heads are pretty much the same for all of them.

Something I had to share....the first one of these I made, I accidentally dropped a stitch while decreasing the the tail at the beginning from 5 to 4 stitches. It actually turned out pretty cool because it looks like the actual "skeletal" look tail on a real seahorse. I would definitely post a pic if possible🙂
